Q. I check out some the best baby monitors recommended by consumer report, but most of them are a little expensive then I expected. Well, I'm hoping for something that is affordable and has crystal clear sound. Any idea?

At first, I was thinking to get a Phlips DESC baby monitor for my wife, but it's too pricey for me at that time. Anyway, after much research, I don't think you can find any better deal then this Safety First High Def Digital baby monitor for paying less then $80.

It is even better then my previous Graco iMonitor baby monitor(pretty good and cheap too). There are no static sound and the channel is pretty clear even though I have cordless phone and wireless network at home. Hope this help:)

A. Well, you have a few options--
The best (my opinion and that of consumer reports) is the Clearblue line of tests. Their regular ovulation test kit, you get 7 tests for a little under $20. 1 kit usually does you for 1 cycle. They have digitals that cost about $30 for 7 tests but they are much easier to read. Clearblue also has a fertility monitor--about $150, worth it if you think it will take you a while to get pg, but you also still have to buy sticks for it-$45 for 30 sticks.
Check out ebay for some really good deals on ovulation tests. The cheapie ones may work well for you, so you may want to buy a few and try them out.
Also, I've used the anser brand--$11 for 7 tests and they work pretty good too.
The third thing, and I'm sorry if this isn't exactly what you are looking for, get a thermometer and chart your basal body temps (www.fertilityfriend.com)--a thermometer costs about $7 so very cheap!

A. I've looked into this study and, statistically speaking, it is a textbook case of a Type I error. In science, we call this type of error a 'false positive'. When we plant RoundUp ready crops, then we can use RoundUp exclusively. I've studied herbicides extensively in college. Some of them are horrible chemicals, staying in the soil for years. Some of them will burn human skin if they touch it, basically popping our cells like balloons. Others, mostly auxin-based herbicides, can be carried on the wind for miles, burning the new growth of entire forests. Glyphosate (RoundUp) is a very safe herbicide. It isn't dangerous unless you drink large amounts of it (which would be incredibly stupid), breaks down in the soil after about three days, and doesn't leech nearly as easily as many other, more dangerous herbicides. It's only harmful to the environment if it gets into wetlands, where it can injure amphibians. But that can be avoided by using best management practices.

Some GMOs are dangerous. Many are actually helpful: they reduce the use of more dangerous herbicides and pesticides. Please don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.

A. Well, you have a few options--
The best (my opinion and that of consumer reports) is the Clearblue line of tests. Their regular ovulation test kit, you get 7 tests for a little under $20. 1 kit usually does you for 1 cycle. They have digitals that cost about $30 for 7 tests but they are much easier to read. Clearblue also has a fertility monitor--about $150, worth it if you think it will take you a while to get pg, but you also still have to buy sticks for it-$45 for 30 sticks.
Check out ebay for some really good deals on ovulation tests. The cheapie ones may work well for you, so you may want to buy a few and try them out.
Also, I've used the anser brand--$11 for 7 tests and they work pretty good too.
The third thing, and I'm sorry if this isn't exactly what you are looking for, get a thermometer and chart your basal body temps (www.fertilityfriend.com)--a thermometer costs about $7 so very cheap!

What is the best baby monitor and car seat for newborn?

The ones I would recomend are Britax Companion, Graco Snugride, and Graco Safeseat.

The Britax Companion is Rated #1 on Consumer reports. It is made in London and thus adhears to European standerds (they're a little bit higher then American standerds). The Car Seat can hold a child up to 22lbs or 30 inches long (whichever comes 1st). The actual carrier itself weighs about 10 lbs. The car seat has a rebound bar on it to avoid the cacooning of the child in a car accident.

The Graco Snugride is a very basic design. The carrier weighs 8 lbs and can hold a child up to 22 lbs or 29 inches long.

The Graco Safeseat just came out this year. It weighs 10 lbs but it can hold a child up to 30 lbs or 32 inches long which should get you at least through the first year (the other two will on average get you to about 9 months).

Some people like Evenflo infant car seats but I don't because I feel like the erganomic handle makes it harder to carry as the child get's heavier.


Monitor:

Avoid Fisher Price. They break a lot. I would say the Sony 900mhz 27 channel monitor. You will avoid a lot of interfearance.

Instead of trying to treat the symptoms like doctors typically do, why not get rid of the acne by getting to the root cause of it. Mixing antibiotics with any drug is NOT advised. Antibiotics are a big contributor to creating conditions that cause acne. On one hand the antibiotics kill bad bacteria on the skin, but also destroy 3/4 of your immune system in the process by killing the good bacteria in your gut that helps fight acne. This generally makes you dependent on antibiotics.

A. I've looked into this study and, statistically speaking, it is a textbook case of a Type I error. In science, we call this type of error a 'false positive'. In other words, there was a weak correlation between the liver damage and the consumption of Bt toxins that could have just as easily been attributed to chance. Therefore, it is illogical to jump to conclusions and declare that a causal relationship exists.

There are many, many other tests, on the other hand, that indicate that the toxin is perfectly harmless. Think about this for a second. The Bt toxin is naturally produced by Bacillus thurengiensis. This is a very common bacteria; it is found in most soils and on many plant surfaces. We have been eating this bacteria, along with the Bt toxin that it produces, for thousands of years. Bt corn has had the gene that codes for Bt proteins spliced into it. When these normally harmless proteins are exposed to alkaline conditions they change conformation and latch onto the walls of the intestinal tract, causing cells to lyse and eventually killing the animal. Many herbivorous insects have very alkaline intestinal tracts. Humans and other mammals, on the other hand, have acid to neutral intestinal tracts. In our GI tract, the protein remains in its harmless natural conformation.

I agree that GMO's need to be more heavily monitored, especially the ones that are modified to produce pharmaceuticals. IMO, they should only be grown in isolated hothouses so they cannot cross-pollinate with our field crops. But Bt crops and RoundUp ready crops are both harmless. When we grow Bt crops we don't have to use pesticides, which can be very damaging to the surrounding ecosystem and to the consumer.

When we plant RoundUp ready crops, then we can use RoundUp exclusively. I've studied herbicides extensively in college. Some of them are horrible chemicals, staying in the soil for years. Some of them will burn human skin if they touch it, basically popping our cells like balloons. Others, mostly auxin-based herbicides, can be carried on the wind for miles, burning the new growth of entire forests. Glyphosate (RoundUp) is a very safe herbicide. It isn't dangerous unless you drink large amounts of it (which would be incredibly stupid), breaks down in the soil after about three days, and doesn't leech nearly as easily as many other, more dangerous herbicides. It's only harmful to the environment if it gets into wetlands, where it can injure amphibians. But that can be avoided by using best management practices.

Some GMOs are dangerous. Many are actually helpful: they reduce the use of more dangerous herbicides and pesticides. Please don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.
