how many weeks were you when you heard your babies heartbeat at home on the bebe monitor?

tsurthang

Im looking for some earlier listeners if possible?
Also when could your dr hear it?

Answer
A doctor uses a doppler, they can usually pick the heart beat up around 10 weeks.

The bebe monitor (the cheap $20 one) usually takes a lot longer to pick up the heart beat, like at least 20 weeks and sometimes you can never pick up the heart beat using it. It is not a doppler, but almost like a microphone device.

Also, if you are overweight you may not hear a heart beat with the cheap bebe monitor. I am 17 weeks and still can't hear anything and I am thin.

I bought the hi bebe doppler monitor instead, it's like what doctors use and you can hear the heart beat around 10 weeks. If you use it your entire pregnancy, or for two pregnancies, then it is cheaper to buy it then to rent it.

The cheapest I found it was online here, it was cheaper than ebay: http://www.ababyoutlets.com/hi_bebe_fetal_doppler_bt200.htm

Good luck!

babys heartbeat...??

Q. do you have to go to the docters to hear your babys heartbeat??
or no..

Answer
Depends on how far along you are. According to a number of medical websites, the back of a stethoscope will pick up the baby's heartbeat after you hit about 20 weeks.

However, you should be at the doctor's office once a month if you're pregnant. There are a number of other things that they have to check, like the amniotic fluid levels and your RH factor and later on, the baby's position. They have to screen you for gestational diabetes, and make sure you don't have any infections. They have to monitor your blood pressure. They have to check to make sure the placenta is where it should be and healthy. They have to check the umbilical cord. They have to check your blood to see if you're at high risk for Down's Syndrome and a number of other birth defects. They have to look at the baby's spinal column for spinal bifida and a number of other defects. You can not do all of the things that need done in order to make sure your baby is healthy! There is literally no way for you to take care of yourself the way that you need to without a doctor's help.

That said, there is a website (they want you to have a doctor's signed permission), where you can rent a fetal doppler. My husband and I rent one for $25/mo. It's called storkradio.com and IF you're doing all of the things you need to be, it can be very reassuring if you aren't sure how the baby's doing.

baby belly monitor?

blondie

hello i went to bury (my town)before and wanted ot buy one of them things you put on your belly to hear the baby inside and mothercare have to order them only the big mothercare words have them does any1 know what others stores actually sell them??? xx

Answer
Honestly, I wouldn't buy one of those.

I have heard many women complain because they can't hear the heartbeat even after 24 weeks. It just makes you worry more about the baby when you don't hear a heartbeat. You might never be able to hear one. You really have to know what you are doing with those things - where they need to be placed on the belly. If it's not in the exact place, it won't work.

why couldnt the heart monitor detect my babys heartbeat ...?

Summer

im 32 weeks just came back from gp visit the monitor detected it but we couldnt hear it?!?! we saw her kicking all the way through. She wants me to come back tommorow has this happened to anyone else? im so scared and worried
Thankyou ladies im a little calmer now, had a cup of tea baby is still moving :) little bugga!

Answer
Sounds like faulty equipment. Maybe the speakers weren't turned on? Sounds silly, but it happens!

If the monitor detected it, its there. And, baby was moving - obviously that would not happen if the heart had stopped beating.

I'm sure everything is fine and pp's are right about the doctor not sending you home if there was an ounce of concern with the heartbeat.

I have a heartbeat monitor but before using it wanted to know at how many weeks can you hear a babies heartbeat? Can u before the 12 week scan?

Answer
Generally 12-13 weeks is the earliest you will hear the hear beat without an actual scan being done. You can hear it in the doctor's office if they use a doppler monitor only after 12-13 weeks because up until that point the baby is still tucked down in your pelvis. Its only after, when your uterus peeps out over the pelvic bones that it is likely you will hear it.

Does a babies heartbeat vary during pregnancy?

Q. My babies heartbeat on Friday was 151. I went back to the obgyn today and it was 141. Is this anything to worry about? One was through a sonogram the 151 and the one today was through a monitor. I am 13w and 1day.

Answer
Yes, they can vary a lot due to baby's activity level. Heartbeats are generally slower when baby is resting or sleeping and faster when he/she is active. That amount of variance is nothing to worry about. If you'd seen 151 one day and 90 another, I would be concerned, but a change of 10BPM is totally normal.

Best of luck!

Is it safe to use fetal heartbeat monitors?

Macy J

I bought a graco heartbeat monitor and it actually works pretty good considering that I only paid $19.99 for it. I googled if it was safe to use and I didn't see any studies or suggestions on it. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Answer
yes they are safe to use, the only problem with them is it will make you panic if you dont hear the heartbeat one day lol. which just probably means baby moved to a different spot :)
