Picking up other signals through a baby monitor?

Hank

How far of a signal do baby monitors generally have? We just turned off the main end of the baby monitor, and we forgot to turn off the receiving end (the listening end) and we started picking up a signal of a family having a conversation. I didn't think the monitors had that great of a signal? And even so, what is the likelihood of it picking up a signal from something else? (Some other electronic device)

Answer
Typically, a baby monitor can transmit about 100 feet or so, depending upon height, terrain, building's construction material etc.

And yes, the receiver's 'front end' can be overloaded by a transmitter's signal if it is close enough and/or strong enough, and you would hear that transmitter's modulation (the sound).

Can a baby monitor be used to listen in on a conversation?

Vicky

I wanna use a baby monitor so I can be a witness to a "special" conversation. Will the monitor be detectable/make noises?
Can I get an intelligent answer please?!
Instead of someone who's trying to be a smart aleck but just sounds like a retard that didnt read the complete question!
James you are a dumb fuck!!!!!! I was asking if the monitor would make noises and you totally just made up something to be a smart ass dumb shit!

Answer
No, baby monitors will only pick up noises that babies make. it has space age computer components inside that block out the voices of anyone over the age of 2.

Went to my OBs office for my appointment. I'm at 27 weeks and the midwife was using the external monitor to listen to the baby's heartbeat and she was having a hard time finding a spot that was steady because the baby was moving like crazy. She said she kept getting an echo. I go in for my ultrasound tomorrow and because of having to reschedule a few times this will be my first one. I'm just wondering if it's possible that I'm carrying twins and that the echo she was hearing was a second heartbeat. I have felt a lot of movement with this pregnancy, more so than with my entire pregnancy with my first child.

Answer
Your midwife should have detected 2 seperate heartbeats if you were carrying twins. Some fetuses are just alot more active than others. My son was active so much I thought I was carrying twins as well, but it's normal. The echo is a sound in the uterus (hard to tell what sound exactly it was), perfectly normal. See what the ultrasound technician tells you and go from there. Good luck.

Ever get creepy interference on your baby monitor?

C

Parents, have you ever picked up creepy or odd interference on your baby monitor? I live in a very populated area and I have picked up odd interference a few times.

Answer
oh yes! A number of times.

But the weirdest one was when my oldest was young.

My husband & I were getting ready for bed one night & I turned on the monitor. He was brushing his teeth & the second I turned it on I heard a man talking. It was so clear too. He was talking to a woman. We could hear both sides of the conversation. My husband thinks it them talking on a phone, not in the same house. So he thinks we picked up their cordless phone. This in 1997 or so.

I called my husband & he came in. The couple was talking about going somewhere & a hotel. I then recognized the voice. It was one of our neighbors! But he wasn't talking to his wife!!! He actually said the womans name a few times. Plus I knew my neighbors wives voice.

We actually listened for awhile. lol I know it was wrong but it was clear he was flirting with her & you bet she was flirting back. They talked about a buisness trip and meeting up at a hotel. No clear sayings of cheating but for sure flirting. He'd tell her what to wear and mentioned perfume. My husband & I then turned it off.

I could never look at him the same after that. My husband & I never said anything to the wife either. We were not 100% sure. But a month or so later they divorced & sold their home. We actually told our other neighbors then what we had heard. They had seen signs of cheating too.

What creeped me out was . . . could they have ever heard us? Plus for just that second hearing a mans voice coming from what I thought was my daughters room really scared me.

We have some cordless head phones. They at least 8-10yrs old. But we often pick up CBs from what seems like Truckers on near by highways.

Sounds cruel, I know, but it's not what you think. See, my grandmother is really fucking nosey and has a baby monitor hidden somewhere in our living room so that she can listen to the family talk while she is "sleeping". Personally, I can't stand it when people can't keep their nose out of my business and would like to put an end to this. Is there anything I can do or maybe something I could buy to block the signal? Help, please?

Answer
If it's a baby monitor, it can't be that small. Do a thorough search and find it. Then open it up, pry several components off the board and put it back. Or if you know where she keeps the receiver wait until she's away, open it and pry a few components off the board. Or tape the transmitter to a waste pipe so she hears every time a toilet flushes.

Who is going to take care of Sarah Palin's baby while she fulfills her vice president or presidential duties?

I am not trying to sound like a bigot here. But at least Hillary didn't have any small children trying to run for president.

Is it a conflict of interest to have a woman running who has a baby?

IF we are attacked again, do I have to worry our vice-president is going to be listening to a baby monitor instead of our national security advisors?

It's management that is doing the listening.
