My LG monitor's front panel lights have gone out. What can be done?

The small lights on the front of my LG backlight LED monitor's front panel seem to have gone out. The frame is dark, almost black, so they're supposed to indicate where the power and menu buttons are. Now, one will flicker when I turn the monitor on or off, but otherwise they're all gone.

Answer
There is an old axiom that people get the government they deserve. However, the good people of Wisconsing never reckoned on the their new governor's radical assault on the institution of collective bargaining. After creating a financial crisis with his business tax cuts, the governor turned to state employees to make up the difference, which they have agreed to do.

Will the rabid right ever run out of sacred cows to gore? Or, for that matter, progressive Gores to cow? What's next for rightwing cheap shots, having last week's bushwhacked Michelle Obama's radical support for motherhood, breast-feeding, infant nutrition, and against childhood obesity? Talk about an immoral minority that needs to suckle the milk of human kindness.

Castigating programs to educate new, needy mothers about the immense virtues of breast milk only reinforces my growing fear there is no pale beyond which extremists may go so repulsive their base turns away in horror. The Tea Party House coalition takes no prisoners, meaning no sacred cows or safe infants or government by and for the people. Charity for all? Gone, forgotten, kaput.

Yet monumental contradictions persist, like tectonic cracks. All fetuses (who survive conception) must be born, the Biblical right demands, but that doesn't mean public support for the health or prosperity, even life of preterms and newborns. Let them eat cake if babies can't get mother's milk. Getting born is what God dictates, with notably empty mandates for what happens later. Nice.

Strange how anti-abortionists worship any stranger's unborn fetus (the virulent approving murder of abortion doctors), but accept no social or political obligation to nurture even the neediest youngsters actually born. Life is apparently only holy until you actually start breathing, then it gets hard. What about widespread hunger already afflicting older children, as millions in our country go to bed unfed, a situation that will worsen as government aid evaporates. But for the hard-hearted, life is a condition, a vale of tears, not an entitlement.

And yet, pro-lifers who reject government intervention for newborns want laws banning abortion, thus awarding the same suspect, formerly hated government crushing power to thwart historic parental rights. Government overreach ain't bad when serving your ideology. Further, the same "pregnancy mandates birth" crowd unabashedly supports the conscious killing of adult prisoners -- capital punishment. Nor, considering the chatter about fetal life, do rightwingers hesitate to own guns, not only for killing unarmed animals but facilitating gun accidents by their own unmonitored children.

Nor does this rabid right even question when our leaders concoct unwarranted wars against a variety of evil-doers, real or perceived. Where was the pro-life outrage when nine innocent Afghan children were mistakenly killed a week ago by American drones fighting an endless, unwinnable war? What about accused adulterers stoned to death in countries flush with our own military?

When ideologues abandon even pretend solutions to anything real (where're the jobs, Speaker Boehner?), the fallback entails belligerent provocation, exaggerated contempt, indirection, and buffoonery. And so we come to rightwing attacks on the First Lady's modest proposals to advance breast-feeding, granting babies immunity against childhood infections (now producing 900 avoidable infant deaths a year) plus reducing later issues with obesity, diabetes, and food addictions.

So much for my withered fantasy that some conceivable line of political no return exists -- limits beyond which the unhinged cannot go without sharp penalty. The last two years have killed a river of audacious administration hopes, so I accept this current, literal dis-illusion-ment -- releasing this illusion. If the right escapes censure for impugning life-supporting breastfeeding, especially for poor and minority single mothers, what isn't vulnerable to sneering assault? Not only was Ms. Obama attacked for "hectoring," but criticized for pushing the new "nanny state" -- as if infant health and safety programs are just more "government takeovers."

Saul by Rosemary Kay
imaginative first-person memoir of a premature baby's experiences in the neonatal intensive care unit of an English hospital. Saul, the author's son, was born after only 23 weeks' gestation, weighing just one pound, four ounces. Instead of being bundled into his loving mother's arms after delivery, he was consigned to a plastic incubator, with a ventilation tube running down his throat, heart monitors taped to his chest, and liquid nourishment dripping through an umbilical line.

Well like during March, my mother was going to have a child but in the end it was self aborted. Then blood started to come out, and she couldnt keep her pee in. So the doctor was some crazy bitch excuse my language, and while cleaning her up she didnt let her pee. She told my mom oh i know you can keep it in, and if you dont keep it in im going to leave and do my next emergency. I was like mom cmon she doesnt care, can you hold it in please? The stupid doctor said haha ha i do care, ( LIKE THE EVIL DEVIL SHE WAS). The my moms likes she cant hold it, she cant hold it. It was like my mom was acting like a baby, and plus my mother didnt know english. Next that stupid woman saw in the monitor that her pee level was high and needed to pee. Then after so long she let her pee because the monitor said she had too. Like seriously lady? My mothers bleeding in that area and she needed to pee. Its august now, and this incident happened in March. Was this right for the doctor to do? If it wasnt cant I still sue her!
Im going to be 17 in september, i dont think im old enough to sue right?

Answer
Wow, that sounds terrible!

Well. Anyone can sue anyone, but whether you have a case or not depends on a lot more than what you posted here. Your mom would be the only one that can credibly sue in this case-- your case would get thrown out as soon as the judge finds out that you are not entitled to bring suit, unlkess your mom suddenly became your legal ward.

Well, you might have a case for emotional trauma, and can sue of you are an adult, but any award would be low as the doctor's attorneys will just show that it didn't affect you in any crippling way.

Also, without a likely "winning outcome" -- with a cash award, no attorney will help you unless you want to shell out big bucks in advance.

A better route is to complain to the medical board and the hospital board where this doctor practices. And go on facebook and any review sites and review the doctor.

You must be very careful to be clear and factual, when you state what happened. You do not want to get in trouble for slander or liebl (spoken or written defamation of a person). You can also give your opinion about things such as whether you would ever recommend the doctor to anyone.

My mind is so clouded that I can not think straight. Can you give me a clearer picture?

My husband is abusive. He is verbally, emotionally, & at times physically abusive. He was abusive while I was pregnant with both of our children. He was abusive after they were born. He would say things like:
you can't do sh** right
your a sick bi*** (had/have postpartum depression)
etc. etc. etc.
He is a very self-centered man. Everything is about him & he always has some sort of issue to attend to. We even had to focus on him while I was in labor. He was angry about something...
He makes it known that I am his problem. I am the reason that he is abusive. I make him this way. If he was with someone else they would appreciate him more. (We live in a big house. I work as a elementary teacher part time to keep the kids out of daycare.) He thinks that I should be more appreciative because he is one black man that hasn't left his family. But to tell you the truth, this is worst than him just leaving me. He is here but he resents being here. You know that "work" of raising children. But he wants to award of being here for his kids, but on the side he is taking out his resentment on me. Always talks about how much work he does with the kids, i.e. helping with bath, diapers, monitoring, etc. He enjoys nothing with them it seems.

It is so hard to appreciate him because he is so abusive. I can not see past the abusive things that he saids and does. That is why I am leaving. My children who are in the infant & toddler phase do not deserve to grow up in such a dysfunctional environment. I am a excellent mother. My 2 year old already knows her ABC, counting to 10, etc. etc.
Can I be causing him to be abusive? Or is he using the fact that I am weak with postpartum depression to make me feel helpless & guilty enough to stay?

Answer
Sweetheart...there is no way on earth that it is your fault that he is abusive. That is a choice he makes, every time he does it. He can stop, if he so chose.

He is using your weakness to control you and cover his own problems. You can never do anything that is deserving of any type of abuse.

You are doing the right thing by leaving. It will be very hard, no doubt. You're heart might hurt, you may think you did the wrong thing, you may feel bad because you "hurt" him. Let me tell you, you are doing the right thing, the pain will pass, and as far as hurting him...he should have thought about the pain he'd feel while he was inflicting your pain.

You are right that the kids don't deserve to grow up in such an environment. They will lead much healtheir, more productive lives if they are not afraid. Also, they will learn respect and how to treat others properly if they are not hearing and seeing daddy be mean and uugly to mama.

You can do this....your babies deserve it! And as far as being weak....you have 2 children, work, and put up with an abusive husband! I don't see any weakness there! You are strong enough to see what he does is wrong, that your kids deserve better, and you are leaving. That takes strength. Now, you will have to put "strong" into overdrive to make it after you leave him....even if just for a little while.

God bless you, I'll be praying for you and your babies! You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! (Philippians 4:13)!

Ex and I fighting over our preemie son?

best baby monitor mother and baby awards

best baby monitor mother and baby awards image

Princess A

We have a four-week-old son who was eight weeks premature. He came home on Monday with a heart monitor and I have to really watch him because he did have episodes of apnea while he was in the NICU. His father and I are no longer together and he has since gotten engaged to another woman. They've been together for five months. He did not come home from school (2 hours away) the day the baby came home from the hospital and I'm really upset about it. His fiancee wants him to bring our son to their place 2 hours away and I am against it, especially because our baby is just under 5 lbs. His father comes home every other weekend, but has yet to come and see the baby other than twice since he's been born. I am extremely upset. Do I have the right to tell my child's father's fiancee to butt out of our business and try to work things out with my ex? I am still deeply in love with him, but I don't know what to do. I feel like I owe it to my son to keep fighting for our family... but right now, I'm just lost. Is it a lost cause? Or should I just move on? I'm so confused. What rights does my ex have?
Actually, I do know his fiancee fairly well. There are a lot of personal reasons why we broke up, mostly because of school and things but I never expected him to go get engaged to someone else. I just figured we would work things out for our kid. I'm still in love with him and this just... hurts.

Answer
Being the mother of a 9 week old preemie son myself (and in a "relationship" similar to yours at the time), allow me to give some advice from my standpoint.
First off, while at the hospital you should have had special training on how to take care of your son and his special needs (the hospital I was at it was mandatory that you were able to "pass" all aspects before baby was allowed to go home with you). Since your son's father appears to be so uninvolved with his life at all - I am assuming he did not join in on any of this training. With your son still being on his leads this is doubly important...and with you having JUST brought him home, even more so. As such you have a perfectly legitimate reason for NOT allowing your son to travel that far with him. Not only for your sons health, but for his safety as well.
Next, if he is already engaged to this other woman (and after such a short amount of time) I am going to assume that he may have been "seeing" her BEFORE they got together. My son's father did something very similar. My advice on this, just leave well enough alone. I realise you still love him (I was dealing with the same emotions with my ex), and it is going to hurt for some time, but he has already moved on with his life....and you have a little man in your life now who will love you unconditionally. I would forget about trying to patch things up with your ex, and focus all of your energy on your new little bundle of joy who is at home with you now (and they do take a lot). Leave the offer on the table for the father to be a part of his son's life if he truly wishes it, but DON'T try to force it on him either - it most likely will have repercussions you won't like later. And who knows what the future may hold for the 3 of you...but also don't try to force something that may have been never meant to be. Trying to keep a relationship going just for the kids 9 times out of 10 is one of the worst things you can do (been there as well).
As for the ex, the "nice" way to tell her to butt out (especially since you know her) would be to tell her that you can appreciate that she is trying to be involved in your son's life as a result of being with his father, but you would appreciate it if she did not try to force her presence. You could also let her know that until your son is older and halthier you would feel more comfortable with visits being at your house, and possibly with just the father at first (unless you think you can get along with her well enough to allow her to be there as well).
Finally, as far as rights go, unless the 2 of you were married, or Child Protective Services is involved stating you are an unfit mother, the father usually has very limited rights (again this depends on what state you are in). You do have the right to file for child support (which I may add I would suggest doing, he helped bring your son into this world...he should also help support him), and just because the father pays child support does NOT mean the father has the right to see the child (they actually state that). If you have any concerns over visitations, etc. what I would suggest is filing a parenting plan with the courts (an attorney can help you with the process, and sometimes for free [pro-bono]). Then the 2 of you (not the fiancee) can iron out details on how the 2 of you as seperate households will raise your child and keep the other parent involved (visitations, etc.). If he chooses not to be involved in the process, then the courts will award you what ever you put in the plan, and then he must abide by it. You do have the right to change the parenting plan in the future if you so desire.
If you have any other questions, or just need someone to talk to (especially since I have been there a few times), feel free to email or messenger me. Good luck, and congrats on the baby!

Do i have a law Suite on the circuit court of macomb county michigan?

When i was 12 my parents were separated in a messy divorce. My mother gave up custody of me and my 9 year old brother to my father.I had two other sisters and a baby brother that my mother got custody over.Around 6 months later we moved out of state to california. My father fell into a very good job but soon after he started seeing all of his pay garnished for child support and i mean all. This went on for many years threw different jobs he had.His tax credits for having me and my brother were also taken and are still to this day.Because of this me and my brother were forced to live in Extreme poverty and basically on the Street from a very young age.The court made sure my other siblings were taken care of but we were just left out. This life style had a very bad psychological effect was very damaging to me and my brother. Its now ben twenty years later and i just feel that we were wronged.I just feel the courts should of seen and monitored this for us.My mother never paid child support an i have not seen her for twenty yeas.I just think the curt should have ben held somewhat responsible for leaving us out in the cold like this and should have better watched over us like they did for my other sisters and brother.I know if they did my life would have been more positive when i was younger.

Answer
Way too late even if you could pull a case together. You can't sue the court and you can't sue support enforcement for enforcing court orders.

Additionally, the highest garnishment rate permitted in the US for child support is 50% of pay, not all of it as you claim.

Perhaps 20 years ago your father should have appealed the child support award. Now is way too late.

question. I have a four month old daughter, whoes father has been anything but active in her life. We are currently in the process of establishing child support, but i have some very serious concerns regarding visitation rights because of the threat his mother poses to the childs emotional well being. she is very controlling of him, admitted to being bipolar, has allowed domsetic viloence to happen in her home and is incapable of making sound decisions. She insists on calling me to arrange visitations with the baby, when I have requested numerous times that her son only contact me. She believes she is entitled to certain rights to the baby because she is the grandmother! Are there any laws giving grandparents rights to a child they have never had possession of? I have encouraged my daughters father to participate in her life, especially since she has a serious heart condition, however he refuses to do so unless his mother can be involved. His mother expressed to me yesterday that the only reason she wants to be around during visits is to ensure I don't do anything to harm her son; monitor me. Which I never have! If she can't she said she will tell her son not to be involved in the babies life at all. After hearing this I spoke with my daughters father and he agreed, that if he could not have his mother around the baby then he will wash his hands of the whole situation. His reasoning being, he has known his mother longer than his daughter and she always comes first. I don't think this kind of attitude demonstrates good judgement! Niether of them can possibly care for the babies well being if they want to omit themselves from her life completely over something so silly! Please, can anyone give me some suggestions on what to do? Would this be enough grounds to request certain restrictions be placed on his visitations? or even request sole gaurdianship of her?

Answer
You would have to check with the laws of the state you reside in as to grandparents rights to visitation. Some states do have laws such as Florida. As for the rest. You are right to be concerned about your daughters welfare based on what you said.

Your husband is an idiot by the way. The logic that his mother is a priority over his own daughter because he's known her longer is simply idiotic!

I think that if you can prove to a judge that your mother in law has mental problems, etc. you may well be awarded supervised visitation only. In such a case, anyone who comes in contact with your daughter would be closely monitored to avoid anything from happening to her.

By the way, ignore the first answer. I think either your husband or his mother wrote it!

you can't do sh** right
your a sick bi*** (had/have postpartum depression)
etc. etc.

(Philippians 4:13)!

why do young girls get pregnant as fast as they change clothes and then make a big deal about child support!?

Alex

its like any girl 18 or older has a kid, is not with the kids father, has had many many sexual partners, and then always bitches they dont get child support or dont get enough (even if he pays what hes required to) its just never enough. its always "im gonna raise this baby" attitude and constant change in boyfriends, which of course leads to police visits when she wants him out over nothing, then restraining orders over BS and court. why are girls so slutty. they cant keep it in their pants either.

Answer
It's not any, it's just that 20% of sexually active females, over the age of 12, as actively trying to get pregnant. Tyra Banks featured the study on her TV show. It has nothing to do with child support, it has to do with having something they can own and have 100% control of. It's the idea that they can, so why not just do it. And, they do not have to have sex with the father of the child.

With the growth of the Self Insemination Kit industry, they can obtain kits, online, with full instructions on how to use semen after oral sex, or from a used condom, to attempt pregnancy. Spermicide in condoms have a very short shelf life, and those imported are not closely monitored by our government to determine even if it is spermicide being put in them. The industry has resisted government oversight. This means the boy can have sex with one girl, oral or with a condom, and she can than help a female friend get pregnant with it. An Illinois Doctor was ordered to pay child support the a woman who did this after oral sex, though he has been allowed to sue for for damages.

As for child support, this is petty issue to raise. There are by far worse ones.

Consider that a Michigan 12 year old boy has sex with the woman who takes care of him when his parents want to go to dinner or a movie. The woman gets pregnant, but she is married, so her husband thinks the child is his. The boy doesn't report the sex as boys are often taught that if they get "lucky" with an older woman, that is suppose to be great.

Now, 14 years later the woman is in the middle of a divorce with her husband, and he files for custody. She counters that he is not the father, so he can't get custody. However, she cannot now collect child support from him, so she files and is awarded a 14 year retroactive order on the "bio" dad. She couldn't be charged as the statute of limitations has run out which was the law for the time the act was committed, and old cases could not be grandfathered in under the new law.

A case in the news just recently involving a 13 year old Ohio boy, and a 19 year old girl, Jane C. Crane. He gets her pregnant and is ordered to pay $50 a month in child support, to be paid by his parents. The girl went to jail, however the child is now in the care of her mother. The boy cannot file for custody due to his age, and his parents do not have standing int he court.

In all states, underage males, who have sex with an adult, can be required to pay child support.

Child tells neighbor how mother, grandmother and 'daddy' died
September 27, 2011|By Linda Trischitta and Rafael A. Olmeda, Sun Sentinel

SUNRISE — The voice of a terrified 5-year-old girl, who had just seen her mother and grandmother shot to death by the man she called daddy, was captured on the recording of a 911 call released by Sunrise police on Tuesday.

The girl was the only witness to Sunday's murder-suicide at the Del Rio Village townhouses. Immediately after the shootings, the girl ran to a neighbor's house and pleaded for help. The neighbor called 911, but the girl's heartbreaking voice is clearly heard on the recording made of the call.

"She's dead," the girl said of her mother, Danielle M. Lorenzo, 30. "My grandma's dead and my daddy's dead."

"How do you know this?" the neighbor asked.

"Because," the girl answered, "I saw them."

Police confirmed on Tuesday that the weapon, a Walther PPK handgun, was fired by Marcus Nathaniel Trotman, 26, who fatally shot Lorenzo and her mother, Linda Scudera, 56, before turning the gun on himself Sunday evening.

Trotman and Lorenzo had been married for 18 months.

"Can I, can I live here?" the girl asked her neighbor as police were dispatched to the home on the 4000 block of Del Rio Way. "My daddy, my mommy and my grandma are dead and I need somewhere to live."

On Tuesday afternoon, Broward Family Court Judge Susan Greenhawt held a custody hearing for the girl and an older brother, whose whereabouts were not discussed. The girl has been staying with a baby sitter, with the Department of Children & Families monitoring as custody issues are resolved. A man claiming to be the girl's biological father was in court Tuesday and agreed to a DNA test to verify paternity.

If he's determined to be the girl's father, he would be awarded custody pending a review of his family's home by state officials.

Media reports have linked the recovered handgun to a local radio host, DJ Laz.

"Apparently he was friends with Marcus, but it has not been confirmed it was DJ's gun," said Sunrise Police Sgt. Rodney Hailey. "He's missing one with the same make and model, but serial numbers have not been matched yet."

Trotman held a security guard license but did not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, Sunrise police said.

According to Broward County court records, Trotman was arrested Aug. 21 by Sunrise police and charged with battery.

On Sept. 16, Trotman was arraigned on two counts of misdemeanor battery/domestic violence against Scudera and Lorenzo, said Ron Ishoy, spokesman for the State Attorney's Office.

Trotman pleaded no contest and was put on probation after Scudera filed a waiver of prosecution, Ishoy said.

As a condition of his probation, Trotman was not to have contact with his wife or mother-in-law, and was required to participate in a batterers' intervention program, as well as Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and anger management classes, Ishoy said.

@Dani: I won't even say anything about that. There's nothing I can say. :(

Answer
Yes, it does... and I hate bring race into this or to race bait, but things like this are why I wouldn't tolerate any of my sisters being with black men. As sad as this is, it isn't uncommon to hear about it. Just like it isn't uncommon for them (not to generalize) to rape and smile or laugh when on trial, or to kill someone because they didn't have enough money. Now a little girl is alone without her mother because that animal took her away.

Do i have a law Suite on the circuit court of macomb county michigan?

Can I sue a doctor that didn't do what my mom wanted at first?
