crib movement sensors?

YoungSpark

i've been lookin into those little sensors that is placed under the crib and goes off when the baby doesnt move for about 20 seconds, what i dont understand is, if the baby is sleeping hes not going to move so is it going to be going off all the time when he is sleeping?

Answer
We have the angelcare system and it gives us peace of mind that is for sure! We have had a few false alarms with the system either from my son moving into the top or bottom corner or his crib or his new habit of sleeping sitting up with his face in his lap! lol I guess it doesn't monitor his breathing through his butt surprise surprise! Even with a few false alarms it was the best investment I ever got! I would rather a false alarm where I check on him then the alternative of him not breathing! I would highly suggest getting one especially if you have high anxiety about SIDS! My son is almost 10 months and I still rely on it!

will baby-movement-monitors prevent cot death?

Answer
There are no guarantees . . . but every little bit of extra protection helps and is worth it - especially if you sleep just a little bit better in those early months.

We got the BebeSounds Monitor with the movement sensor pad for our twins - there was one false alarm - but otherwise it has been great.

Best wishes!

Angel Care Baby Movement Monitor?

DJ Alex

Does anyone have one? Does it help you sleep better at night? Have you had any problems with it? I just won one of Ebay for 41 dollars including shipping. My son is a stomach sleeper and I constantly worry about him at night, so we bought one. I have to say so far I love it. I gave it a test and it works great. It went off like it said 20 seconds after I moved my son off the sensor.

Answer
I have it and I love it. I'll never use another monitor. It went off once a few months ago, I ran to my daughter's room and I swear she felt lifeless. I started freaking out and trying to wake her up, and I heard her take a big, deep breath. I don't know if it was a false alarm, or if it really did help...but I'm thankful I had it and I'll use it for my next child.

Oh, and yes it does help me sleep better.

I want to buy the baby monitor with the sensor pad that goes off if it does not detect movement or breathing for 20 seconds.. My boyfriend thinks this is extreme and over the top. Does anyone currently use one and if so, how do you like it?

Answer
Not worth it. I had a friend who bought something like this & it often went off just because the lack of movement. Babies often don't move while asleep.

Can you recommend a good baby movement sensor?

sunflower1

Answer
I have the one by angelcare with two receivers. I've used it since my baby was born. A lot of people report static and false alarms with this monitor, which I've had with it, but she's 8 months old now and I still use it every night. I have very little problem with static and I only have a problem with false alarms if I forget to turn the sensitivity up or if I take her out of the crib in the morning and forget to turn it off (which tells me that the sensor is working!)

Infant Movement Sensors?

**Serenity

I need parent's reviews who have tried one of the movement sensors in the crib...The write up is good but it says an alarm sounds if baby is still for 20 seconds, but how can it tell if the baby is in a nice, deep sleep not in danger? How many false alarms did you get using one?

Answer
It monitors the slightest movements... breathing.. even in a deep sleep you still have the movement of your chest rising.

100 false alarms won't bug you in the slightest if the monitor gives you peace of mind. You can't put a price on knowing your baby is okay.

What is the best baby monitor?

m1h2n3

I currently have the handheld summer infant monitor. My baby's room is on the other side of the house and if I just walked out of her room it says no signal . What is the best baby monitor or video monitor ? Thanks!

Answer
1)Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor
2)Angel care Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor
3)Sony BabyCall Nursery Monitor NTM-910YLW
these are 3 of the best on the market Right now

Did/do you use a movement sensor/monitor with your baby?

jen

I know they don't claim to prevent SIDS, but just to make sure baby's breathing, etc...
tw9165, That's the one I bought!

Answer
I use that angelcare monitor too with the pad that goes under the mattress. My main reason for getting one was a little girl I looked after died when she was nearly 2 in her cot from SUDS (sudden unexplained death syndrome). It shook me up pretty bad and I agree with the person who wrote that its a comfort to wake in the night and see the little light flashing - saves me from turning the light on and disturbing my son, just to check on him. I too have forgotten to turn it off when I feed him and it lets out an almighty noise! That just proves to me that it works.

Chuck W

I've noticed that recently, tons of traffic cameras have been installed on Highway 95 in Florida where I live. There are so many, practically every section of road will be within reach of the cams. But I also noticed that there is some sort of flat panel transducer that is pointed roughly at the road on each camera pole. What would those things be for? They remind me of the transducers used in E-Pass lanes. Could they be used to monitor our movements?

Answer
It's Big Brother, baby. Welcome to 1984, and slow down.
