Q. Does anyone know how to extend the range of a video baby monitor? Our monitor is 900mhz. We live in an old building full of steel and concrete so the signal doesn't go well between rooms and is lost entirely between the baby room and the master bedroom. There are boosters for wifi networks so I would assume there is some technology or the same one that would work for baby monitors.
A. Take a power booster and uplink the connection to the communication antenna but dont forget to bypass the firewall and that should work.

A. This was a catch 22 for me. Obviously to see my baby, and check they are OK was a good one. But I decided wireless technology is still in its infant days. Who knows in the future, whether exposing a baby to radiation is good for them. That's why I went with a wired monitor. So any wired monitor is the one I would choose, but that's the problem, most are wireless. Babies are especially vulnerable because their bodies and nervous systems are still developing and because they will have more time to accumulate exposure to the radiation and for any delayed effects to develop. The jury is out, but I don't personally want to be a guineepig.

But in the end went with just a simple wired sound monitor. You can put them closer, due to a much smaller magnetic field and hear the baby breathing . It maybe that magnetic fields dont harm the baby, but there have been some concerns in some of the trustworthy papers here in UK such as the independant.

A. I think you are a bit in the future. Internet connections have to come from somewhere. Do you know how expensive a camera with its own internet connection would be? My home comcast goes down. My cell phone's 3G goes down. Even if you get a dedicated T1 line to your house it can and will still have down time.
Usually holes in the internet services are less then a minute long. While I realize a lot can happen in 1 minute, I doubt your nanny will be wonderful the whole day then magically know the net is down and start beating your kid.
