What all do you need for a baby...Please answer?

Q. I am only 2 months but what all do you need I know the basics like bottles, clothes, ect. and how much stuff should I have of each thing please help!

well, u can go to babies r us website and they have a list for ppl who are going to register..of course it has a lot of things on there that you don't need, but if you weed through you can get what you need out of it...the things i liked;found most useful, etc......

.i would def recommend:
a diaper genie 2; idk why ppl don't like them, there is NO smell in my dd 's room
changing table..will save your back, good for diap changes, clothes changes, sponge baths, etc and you have shelves to store your new baby must haves....i have canvas bins on the shelves to store things that are good to have in reach or easily available...
monitor--i like the graco imonitor, recently bought a second one for another room in the house bc i liked the other one so much, it has been working well for over 8 mos now, and it has good range, battery life, and i can hear EVERYTHING; never any interference....it works great..
boppy pillow with cotton covers, soft ones don't fit as well for some reason
lots of baby hangers, and baby hangers with clips to keep outfits together
primo euro bathtub
prince lionheart diaper depot and wipewarmer; ours works well and the wipes are still very warm when we get them to out dd's bottom; and she doesn't freak out when we are out and they aren't warmed, but seems to appreciate it when they are..
health kit: brush, comb, thermometer (not an ear one, not as accurate), nail clippers, etc.
baby meds, generic is just as good and a lot cheaper...desitin(or plain zinc oxide if you can find it)..not creamy, has less zinc ox in it....infant mylicon and tylenol
lots of diapers , make sure wherever you buy them will let you exchange them for a diff size if you need to even after the return period...brus let me do that, and buy a small pack of a couple brands to see which you prefer before you open the big boxes...wipes, lots of them, without alcohol or fragrance! we use swaddlers diapers and pampers sensitive wipes; no rashes, no reactions to their ingredients, diapers hold a lot when they have too and the netting tends to keep the wet off her bottom...
lots of baby washclothes, you may have to use them on baby's bum if it is really sensitive and gets a rash....and baby towels, but you could use your reg towels if money is an issue

swing, pref swings two ways and plugs in instead of batteries

infant travel system! easy, easy, easy--we got the graco tour deluxe; it is great, folds with one hand, several seating positions, lays flat for sleep; has a big basket underneath and cup holders for mom and dad, one for baby , place for snacks for baby, and a 'pocket' up top for keys, cell phone, whatever you wanna put there...
play yard, get one with bassinet feature if you want to, easier to keep baby in your room for a while before putting them in crib in their room=we have chicco discovery and it is awesome, has more padding than most, easy to wash..machine wash, most are wipe down...very sturdy, has nightlight, vibration, etc and a flip up change table, has wooden slats that slide in under mattress for support...not that much more exp than the others and much better in my opinion

avent formula dispenser; has better review than the ones made by sassy, and convert to a snack cup later...i loved it so much i bought a second one!
bottles--really liked playtex ventaire advanced when she was young, more pieces but it's easy to get them clean when the top and bottom comes off...and they vent through the bottom instead of the nip so no bubbles or foam going back up into baby's milk; they will leak if you don't put them together correctly, but we have had no probs with them and have never had to replace any parts on them..if u decide on them and have leaks, email me and i will explain how to keep them from leaking...:O)
bottle and nip brushes--i really like the ones by munchking that don't have a sponge on the end of the brush, they come in diff colors mixed with white and have a great nip brush in the handles....
drying racks--again, i really like munchkins...
formula mixer: i like dr brown's formula pitcher bc you don't shake it it is only abo

Suggestions on good baby monitors?

I have a set of Fisher Price Sounds n Lights baby monitors, and their ability to pick up the tiniest sounds is great, but at random times they will just squeal extremely loud in a high pitched noise. It will even wake up my 5 week old daughter. She is a preemie, and she's only at 37 weeks now - so she's having stomach problems that hurt her, so the sleep she can get is precious for her.

Does anyone have any really good experience with a certain monitor? This is my first baby and I'm getting used to waking up to her cries - so I'd like the sensitivity of the monitors to be the same as these, I want to hear her LOUD and clear on the monitor. And the high pitches isn't due to other electronics, I just have an electronic clock in her room. Sometimes if you get close with a cell phone it'll do it - but 90% of the time it just does it randomly and loud loud loud!

Any mothers with advice, I'd appreciate it :)

I'm going to recommend the Sony Baby Call Monitor. We purchased it because it was the only one on the market that would not affect the cell phone usage in the house (and we figured they were all pretty much the same otherwise). It also comes in a set with two receivers.

We liked it because you can adjust the sensitivity. There's a wheel on the side to adjust the volume of your baby's cry. This way, you can get used to her waking you up without being shocked out of your own sleep. Plus, our daughter made lots of noises in her sleep that kept us awake. We were able to set the volume so we didn't hear those noises, but did hear her crying.

The only experience they have with squealing, is if you unplug the baby's monitor from the wall. It's more of an alert system, so you hear the squeal on your end when someone's messing with the other monitor.

Also, the receiver gets real staticky when the microwave is on.

Angelcare Movement Baby Monitor?

I'm looking at baby monitors and have some questions about the Angelcare Movement Monitor...so if you have it I would really appreciate some answers! It says that the monitor can detect when your baby stops moving, but wouldn't it be going off all the time when the baby is sleeping? Or is it so sensitive that it detects breathing? And how is the picture quality/night vision picture quality? And is the zoom feature good or does it just make the picture more grainy? Do you recommend this monitor? THANKS!

I have the angel care monitor without the camera, the way it works is that it has a pad that needs to be put under the mattress, it cant be used under memory foam mattresses it has a sensitivity dial to work under diff mattress types and to detect tiny babies as well. it basically picks up babys breathing and if they have an irregular breath it alarms at 15 sec to warm you with a beep, then if the baby doesnt move again in 5 more seconds it alarms loud to wake the parent and the baby.

Mine worked a dream i followed the instructions carefully and it was brilliant as it also monitored the babys room temp and warned me if it got too hot or cold. the sound was great. we had 2 false alarms because my baby was 6lb and moved to edge of cot where monitor didnt pick up her delicate movements but at least i knew it worked.

i wouldnt have been able to sleep without it to be honest i give it 5 stars, the monitor version came out this year and has been awarded best buy so im guessing its good as well.i would highly recommend it.

With both my kids I got the Fisher Price Lights and Sounds monitor. I wanted to have 2 in case I needed them both. They have worked just fine for a few years and have never given us trouble. I tried a more expensive one once that had an intercom button and it interferred with the house alarm and stopped working. Returned it for the FP one which is not that expensive.

baby monitors that block out small sound?

i'm such a light sleeper i wake up with EVERY grunt and coo my baby makes in her sleep, are there any monitors with such good quality you can turn the sound up or down so you can ONLY hear when the baby is crying and awake, monitors i've tried wake me up every few minutes because i hear when she makes small sounds in her sleep

The cheapest way to do a video 'baby monitor'?

We are getting ready to move into a new home. The attic is going to be the children's playroom. I am looking for the cheapest way to put up a video feed from up there to the 1st floor. I just want to have a computer monitor or tv set up in the living room to keep an eye on them when I'm on the 1st floor. Thank you!

baby monitor -- ideally one with two portable receivers, so you can keep one in your bedroom and one somewhere else in the house (and so you can carry the second one around with you depending on your needs)

diapers/wipes -- don't stock up on too many diapers in the newborn size as most babies outgrow those extremely quickly; have some on hand, and some in the next size (size 1). Even so I wouldn't stock up on too many, you may find that one brand fits your baby better depending on how she's/he's built.

baby carrier -- like the baby bjorn. This can be much more pleasant and convenient than a stroller, good for bonding, and can also be helpful at home if you want to carry your baby a lot at home, either due to parenting philosophy, colic, or whatever. (You can get a front carrier, a hip sling, etc.)

you didn't mention clothing -- onesies, socks, and *hats* -- most body heat is lost from the head...even for those of us who have hair!

bottles/formula -- many moms will disagree with me, but I'm a firm believer in having one bottle and one small can of formula on hand even if you're positive you're going to be breastfeeding. I've known just enough moms who had completely unanticipated problems to believe it's worth a few bucks to buy those items if it can even possibly prevent a new parent from freaking out because the baby is starving and won't latch and there's a freak storm preventing you from getting to the store at 4 am.... But that's me.

Swaddler or Sleep Sack -- you don't want to use blankets with little babies for safety reasons, and swaddling is shown to help with sleeping, fussiness, etc. (The best by far, I've found, is the "Miracle Blanket.")

"medical stuff" -- bulb syringe, thermometer, baby nose drops, gas drops, infant tylenol drops (you never want to give it to your newborn without your doctor telling you to, but you want to have it on hand should you need it), baby nail clipper and baby nail files, gentle baby wash for baths, vaseline (if you have a rectal thermometer, and/or to care for a circumcision site if applicable)

washcloths/towels (the hooded ones are great for babies)

gauze and alcohol, or alcohol swabs -- for the umbilical cord stump (your doctor may recommend you let it dry naturally though, so check)

diaper cream of some sort

pacifiers -- the hospital will probably give you some of the "Soothie" variety, which a lot of parents recommend anyway (and they're one piece so nothing can break off and become a choking hazard)

you listed the crib, so I'm assuming that means you also have crib mattress, mattress protector, and sheets.

not necessary immediately, but I really recommend a boppy pillow -- some women like using it to nurse, but more than that it can be a tremendous help with getting an infant to deal with tummy time!

I agree that you'll probably want a swing or bouncy seat, but you don't need it immediately. If you're registering that's a good type of item to register for. (If you buy your own: get a bouncy seat that vibrates if you get a bouncy; if you get a swing get one that can easily be changed from side/side (cradle) swinging to front/back swinging, and preferably with music options and gizmos to look at.)

Q. I'm at the point in my pregnancy, were its now time for me to do some baby shopping! I'm so excited, but before I start spending the cash, I wanted to get everyone's input on what they would and wouldn't recommend buying. There are so many things out there, that it can get a little over whelming on what is worth the money, and what's not.
What would you recommend buying?

I wouldn't recommend a baby monitor, we had the sound and motion sensor, well the motion sensor would go off randomly and the sound sensor would always catch neighbors.
Here is a list of things that we have used and use: (p.s. we didn't buy formula because I was sure I was going to get the whole breastfeeding thing right away, but when we were struggling with it for days, we still had to go out and buy it, so I recommend you invest in one can)

Car seat and stroller
Diapers (we use Pampers Baby Dry and they work very good, no leakage) 1 box Newborn size, 2 boxes size 1, two boxes size 2, and 3 boxes size 3 (you donât want to overstock on diapers, because you never know how big the baby will be and how fast it will grow. Donât open boxes that you are not using, in case the baby grows out of a size, you can exchange unopened box for different size or brand , Walmart will let you do that for sure)
Wipes- I like the store brand ones like Babies R Us, Target, or Walmart
Onsies (otherwise known as bodysuits)- Newborn size pack of about 6 (for newborn I would recommend buying onsies long sleeved that cover the hands, so the baby doesnât scratch itself.)
Size 0-3 months about 6 onsies
Size 3-6 about 6-9 onsies
Pants (Walmart sells great pants, I think Gerber, that are cotton and skinny at the bottom, which is great, especially for a newborn baby, you can put socks over pants and layer with another set of clothes on top if it is cold, or for summer nights, these pants donât expose babyâs legs as much as regular pants do, which you donât want when it is cold)
Sweaters (couple heavier ones and couple light ones, preferable without a hood, hoods just donât seem comfortable for baby to lay on)
Pack of socks
Pack of hats
Couple going out outfits, but donât buy anything less than 0-3 months (Babies really do grow fast)
Receiving Blankets (get as much as you can) I use them as towels after giving baby a bath, swaddling, diaper changing cover, etc.

Using video monitors for baby's room?

What are the pros and cons of having a video monitor for your baby's room, in your opinion? We have a small, single story house, with our baby's room just seconds away from any point in the house. Would you recommend it or stick to a normal sound monitor? Thanks :)

Worth it's weight in gold. When you hear a sound, instead of battling with the thought of checking on the baby and maybe waking a sleeping child, you can peak in with the video monitor. LOVED mine. I don't know if this is the exact one I had, since I bought mine when they first came out. Mine lasted for 3 years of constant use. I love the portability of it, and you can even hook it to the tv for an even bigger picture. I always kept a tiny lamp on, and never had a problem seeing the baby with extremely low light.

Wish I had bought it for my other children. I could use it outside too, so my older children could swim in the pool or ride bikes and I could check on the baby without moving from my chair or going inside.

Why is my baby monitor thumping?

I have a perfect picture on my video monitor but I keep hearing a thumping noise. I've changed the channel on the monitor and adjusted the antenna but nothing is working. When I go into the baby's room it's quiet! WTH is going on and how can I fix it?

Any suggestions for a decent one for under 100? The reviews I've read in the $50 range haven't been great but any suggestions would be helpful.
I was looking at just a traditional monitor. I would like to spend under $50. Its hard to go by alot of reviews online because most people live in subdivisions with alot of activity.. I dont. I live in the boonies hah.. so maybe interference wouldnt be as bad..

I have the Graco Ultra Clear II Monitor with Nightlight. It was about $29 and I've been using it for 10 months with minimal problems. It gets really good reviews considering it's priced so low. Once or twice I have gotten a little static sound from it but it went away quickly and only came from the part I keep downstairs (basically the part that is upstairs with the sleeping baby has never had that problem). I do a lot of product research before I buy and it seems when it comes to non-video monitors even the pricey ones have problems.

Baby monitors
Baby monitors are an extra set of ears--and, in some cases, eyes--that allow you to keep tabs on your sleeping baby. There are two basic types: audio and video/audio. Both operate within a selected radio frequency band to send sound from the babyâs room to a receiver. Each monitor consists of a transmitter (child unit) and one or more receivers (parent units). Video/audio monitors have a small wall-mounted or tabletop camera to transmit images to a video monitor.

A baby monitorâs challenge is to transmit recognizable sound (and/or images) over a distance with minimal interference--static, buzzing, or irritating noise--from other electronic products and transmitters, including cordless phones that share the same frequency bands, cellular phones, appliances, and even fluorescent lights. Interference can also be hearing someone elseâs conversation, which makes it difficult, if not impossible, to decipher the sounds coming from your monitor. Interference can also mean fuzzy reception in video monitors. Overall, interference is probably the biggest complaint parents have about baby monitors.

SHOPPING SECRETS

Feel free to skip this purchase. Some parents are reassured by the constant surveillance of a babyâs every whimper and movement. Others find it nerve-racking and feel like they have to be hypervigilant. Decide which category youâre in before you go shopping. A monitor isnât a must-have. If you live in a small house or apartment or want a break when your baby is sleeping--which is legitimate--itâs OK not to have one.

Consider your home and lifestyle. You may appreciate a monitor with both sound and lights, so you can âseeâ your babyâs cries. The louder he cries, the more lights light up. If youâll be taking business calls during naptime, for example, it can be helpful to turn the sound down low and rely on the lights. A video monitor can serve the same purpose, though we believe an audio monitor with lights can suffice. Similarly, if you live in a large house, you may want a monitor with two receivers rather than just one. In general, look for monitors with features that make it easy to move about, such as a compact parent unit that clips onto your belt. Try it on before buying, if possible; antennas have been known to poke the wearer.

Factor in your phone. To minimize the possibility of interference, choose a baby monitor that operates on a different frequency band from other wireless products in your home. A 2.4GHz cordless phone and a 2.4GHz monitor can interfere with each other. The 2.4GHz frequency band is widely used for cordless phones.

Consider digital if you have nearby neighbors with babies. If you want to be sure the sounds transmitted by your monitor are heard only by you and not by neighbors who might have a similar model (or a cordless phone using the same frequency band), go with a digital monitor, not an analog one. This will also ensure that the sounds you hear are coming from your baby and not the neighborâs. Analog monitors operate on a particular frequency band, much like a radio, sending signals from monitor to receiver in a straight shot. Digital monitors, on the other hand, encode the signal as it travels between the monitor and the receiver, making it nearly impossible for the sounds to be heard by others, and reduces the possibility of running into interference from other electronic devices. RECOMMENDATIONS

Among the models we tested, the digital baby monitors are top-rated. Short of DECT technology, thereâs no guarantee against interference with either digital or analog monitors, although digital monitors are less susceptible and more private. One digital model in particular, the Philips SCD 589, is loaded with features, and since it operates in the fairly lightly used, for now, 1.9GHZ frequency band, itâs unlikely to pick up interference. If you anticipate interference and want to spend less than $200, buy a less-pricey digital model thatâs not in the same frequency band as other wireless products in your home, and consider models with more than two channels. We suggest avoiding the Evenflo WhisperConnect Sensa ($50). It has a Pet Sensor, which is designed to alert you to any unusual movement around your babyâs crib--a cat or other pet climbed in, say. That feature worked well, but you can easily keep pets away from the crib by closing the door to your babyâs room. In addition, we found that one of the three samples we tested had an annoying problem: The âout of rangeâ alarm would go off at random. This happened over and over again with that particular sample, and once or twice with one of the other two samples we tested.

The audio/video monitors we tested have small color screens, and unlike earlier models, reasonably good pictures. However, we found them to be susceptible to interference, particularly from microwave ovens in use. Some models, such as the MobiCam ($190), let you tape to a VCR or watch your monitor on the television set. But overall, we donât see much need for a video baby monitor.

Highest rated one was the Philips Digital SCD 589 for 200$, the next one right after that was the The First Years Digital for 50$.

When will tmobile come out with the iPhone?

I have seen articles and reports that T-Mobile will carry apple products in the new year (2013). When can I expect to see the iphone 5 on T-Mobiles network?

I let my friend (coworker) who owns an iPhone 5 use my Note 2 just to compare, and showed him how to use it.

I then asked him why people prefer iPhone 5 over the customization that Android gives. He had no answer to that (he did attempt to say that the iPhone was simpler to use, and I described that the it was true that even babies could use the iPhone, but the Android only takes a day to customize to ones wants and needs), just that he never knew Android had gotten so good. He then offered to trade me his iPhone 5 and a gaming screen he had previously used for his triple monitor setup. I stoutly declined.

This sounds like I'm just trying to spite you because even if the events that I have just tried to describe are false (and they are not), they are impolite.

So I won't educate you on the benefits of the Note 2, and Android as an OS, and why I'm not here to start a war, but merely to inform you that iPhone is definitely starting to fall off as a feature full phone every generation. Every generation, the iPhone is declining. I won't speak of it anymore, and just try answering your question without killing myself over how much a tech geek like me needs to tell you how much better Android is. All you have to do is research and use google anyway if you wanted to know, right?

So about iPhone on T-mobile. You probably won't be seeing the iPhone 5 likely appear in next month. But don't buy a phone on a contract. You will end up paying more. Do you wonder why contracts lock you in and lower the price on phones? It's not really because they want you to stay (well yes they do), but that they gain a better profit anyway. They lock you into a plan that is very bad compared to prepaid plans so every month you will be shelling out tons more money for tons less service. Let's say you pay $90 every month for the same service you get at $49... There you go. 2 year contract = 12+12 = 24 x 40 = 960. You will be shelling out an extra $960 along with the small fee you payed with the phone when you signed your contract ($200 maybe?).

See, I'm just trying to educate you on what choice you should take: prepaid.

Prepaid? Look at Straight Talk, Solavei, T-mobile Prepaid (hidden because they like you using contracts), there are many great options. Check them out.

Turtle Beach Tango Issue with bluetooth?

sooo, early this year i bought the Tangos because my old headset was destroyed by my own stupidity.... anyway, now whenever I try to talk in them it you can barely understand me because it comes out in a static sort of sound. The Tangos are new (as i bought them, so 3-5 months old), they've always have worked before today, I have tried "turning it on and off again", I looked at the TB website but their were no listings for this problem, the audio for games and such works fine, I can hear people, I tried to get dust out of the detachable mic part, I think somethings broken but I don't know what part specifically to replace. I figure/hope that the local community here that has a turtle beach or something knows. no other problems, just static when ever my bluetooth is on for it. NOTE: it might have something to due with internet connection as that seems to be going weird lately, due to too many devices on the internet at one time.

Same here; got tired of the blue masking tape holding my DPX-21's together. The EFT's are a major league upgrade and world of difference.

First, don't discount the obvious; make sure your Chat button settings are on Chat 1 or Chat Main (left earpiece). If that's good, then try flashing the firmware with the latest version (even if you're using the current one). If you've never updated, now's the time.

Make sure the cables on the transmitter are secured properly also.

The mikes on the EFT's are pretty hard to screw up, so I'd be looking at a firmware, software, or setting fix. If you haven't yet downloaded the firmware update, here's what you need to do:

1. Create a TB Community account:

2. Download and install the Tango Advanced Sound Editor and User Guide:

3. Once installed, connect your EFT headset using the USB data cable (NOT the long power cable; they're marked), then start up the ASE program.

4. Click the âCheck for Firmware Updatesâ button and let it do its thing. The procedure is on page 6 of the ASE user guide.

Lastly, you can't rule out RF interference either. Make sure you haven't added any new electronics near the transmitter unit that can cause RFI; new cordless phone base, microwave (if you're a hardcore gamer), baby monitor, etc. Even a new Router; if you've installed a new Router or bridge, you may need to adjust the Channel frequency band to a higher offset frequency above 2.4ghz, which is what the BT frequency is. Remember, anything that can generate RFI will interfere with a BT transmission.

Worst case, call TB support - they're pretty good about taking care of customers who buy their high-end units. Did you get the freebie TB earbuds a couple of months ago as a bonus?

Has anyone ever used a baby breathing monitor?

Are they accurate? I also worry ALOT about SIDS. My baby girl slept for the first time in her crib last night. She is 5 months. I put her to sleep on her back but she always ends up on her belly. I worry SO much. I already have a sound monitor but that isn't enough for me. I saw the link someone posted where it took you to a baby breathing monitor but the price on that one seemed very high. Are all of them that pricey? I would like to hear your opinions on the breathing monitor please. thanx in advance

I bought the AngelCare Monitor as well. I know you're not supposed to put babies on their tummies but that is the ONLY way my son will sleep. He also has bad acid reflux so this helps. The alarm will go off (loudly) if your baby stops breathing/moving. I've tested it and as soon as he's taken out of the crib while the monitor is on, it will sound the alarm. I highly recommend it. I promise you'll be sleeping so well after you buy it because you won't have anything to worry about.
