How do i find the instructions on how to operate the samsung wireless color camera model SEB-101 6RW?

vicky

It's a beby monitor by samsung and I need the instruction booklet on how to oparate it

Answer
Trying to find that camera model number is near to impossible on Samsung's website or even the internet in general. What I did find out though is that the model number you mentioned seems to be an an accessory camera to a baby monitoring system. So, you need to find the model number of the main system.

Here is a list of all Baby Monitoring models...

User Manuals for all models...

How do I use an old router as a wireless adapter?

Nathan

We recently moved, and our desktop PC is in a room that doesn't have any access for the internet, and the closest connections we have are on the other sides of the house. Is there a way i can use an old router as an adapter of sorts on my desktop so i dont have to run a LAN connection all the way across the house or pay for an adapter?

Answer
Depending on the router model, you might be able to configure it as a wireless bridge, http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57529336-285/reuse-an-old-router-to-bridge-devices-to-your-wireless-network/ but for the bother, power consumption, performance, etc. You would be better served with an inexpensive USB WiFi adapter.

It is easy to add WiFi to a desktop. You can get a wireless adapter for your desktop PC, they are very inexpensive. Many are under 10 bucks. http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&tag=excharge-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957&field-keywords=wireless%20adapter%20for%20desktop&url=search-alias%3Daps&sprefix=wireless%20a%2Caps%2C377 There are two types, the easiest is a USB that just plugs in, the other is a card that involves opening the PC and installing in a card slot.

Unless you specifically need a wireless connection, I would not recommend it especially for a fixed device such as a desktop PC.

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including distance, wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc.

Wireless connection quality also varies and there is overhead involved in the transfer such as the encryption and decryption of the data used for wireless security.

You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

For serious gaming or video streaming your best bet is a direct Ethernet connection. Ethernet is unaffected by wireless interference and will give you a rock solid, stable network connection.

If it is not feasible to run Ethernet cable your next best option is to use powerline network adapters. I wrote a review here: http://isp1.us/reviews/netgear-xavb2101-powerline-adapter/

why is my computer hitting 98 C ?

Jim Bob Jo

my processor is an i5 2500k lga1155 and it keep sayin on core temp that when i do games
like minecraft of combat arms or left 4 dead i hit 98 degrees celsius which is ridiculously hot...
doesnt heat up when i play youtube vids or anything
its about 40-45 when im not playing games
im not sure if my processor is broken or what
i just made this computer 1 week ago and its been doin this ever since...
i have 3 other fans that cool the case down but they dont seem to be helping...
theres also a mini fan on my graphics card and a fan on my psu so i dunno why its like this
another note is that i accidently touched the bottom of the processor while trying to fit it in
but then like half a minute later its like DO NOT TOUCH PROCESSOR UNIT THINGS UNDER BELLEH!!!!-
and i was like ._.
so please someone help meh D:

Answer
You have one of the best and most cutting edge processors on the market. Your Austin Powers brand I52500K is designed to run cooler but work harder. How the heck it does that is well beyond my comprehension but I LIKE it. Your CPU chastising you the way it did for touching its' bellah is indicative of the Austin Powers brand and will also attempt to eat anything that comes walking by.When this CPU is properly installed it of course needs to be flush in its' cradle. Are you 100% positive that the processor is all the way in and the lever is all the way down? If it is then you are dealing with the stock cooler and you are dealing with those less than mediocre strips of thermal paste that intel applied. I installed it just to see what would happen. With temps up around 55c+ I immediately installed the Cooler I bought for this baby.It now runs 38-40 in BIOS. ALl the temperature monitors return 23 on some cores and as high as 33 on others during regular surfing. It gets up to about 41c when i game. If you did not fully seat the intel cooler and those little black pins on the inside of the white cips did not fully engage then there will not be full contact between your heatsink base and the curface of your CPU so the transfer of heat will not happen the way it should. A 50c increase during gaming is ridiculous. Have you used more than one temp monitor? http://download.cnet.com/HWMonitor/3000-2094_4-10793486.html & http://download.cnet.com/Speccy/3000-2094_4-75181811.html are a couple more. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh LOL. I know what you're talking about. Core temp suggests 98c as the tjmax er hottest temp before the computer shuts down. Actually the Tcase for it is 72.6 c aso the internal MIGHT be able to reach 98c but your would never even want to get CLOSE to 98c. Your temps are normal for a 2500K on stock. If I am mistaken and you are not confusing that Tjmax as an actual temperature then you need to reinstall that CPU or buy a real cooler like a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103055 OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018&Tpk=NOPCTUA%20D14 OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106178 . When you download speccy and see the summary your can click on CPU on the left and scroll down to your cores. Click the little drop-down arrows next to the cores to see the individual temps. These need to stay well below the 72.6c .

Are plain, old baby monitors adequate?

Mariposa

I'm being a bit proactive and have decided to educate myself on all these baby gadgets. I had a pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage, so even though I was only pregnant a short time, I remember how stressed I was trying to figure out all of this stuff.
So my question is... I thought baby monitors were a dime a dozen. Never knew there were motion sensors, 49 mhz and 900 mhz, video, laptop viewable, etc etc etc. The reviews saying how some mother's felt their babies lives were saved by the motion sensors got me into "paranoid-mommy-to-be" mode. When I was little, everyone had those Graco, lights when the baby makes noise versions. Does anyone find that these are perfectly adequate for their babies, or are the motion sensors/video models really a better choice? Keeping in mind that I'm trying to restrain myself from one day spending thousands of dollars on things a baby will use for a year. :)

Thank you!

Answer
I didn't use one - we live in an apartment, were never going to be that far from the baby, I'm skeptical about gagetry, and I had a sixth sense that alerted me whenever my little one had a hiccup in the next room.

If I'd had a big house I might have gotten a simple monitor, but I think a lot of these things are designed to separate you from your wallet ...and will surely rob you of more sleep than you can afford in general.

Just my $.02 - and I know how it feels to be prenatally paranoid. I'm sure I had plenty of my own issues although this wasn't one of mine. :)

I'm not sure which baby monitor to get? First time mum and I worry a lot, please help!?

dizzi

I'm due in October and am just looking for a baby monitor. I have read that the Tommee Tippee and Angelcare (not sure which models) both with sensor pads, and the BT 150 are good. I'm not sure about the sensor pads, I have heard they give a lot of false alarms, plus I don't want to be too paranoid. I know they can be useful for premature babies or those with health conditions, but what about full term healthy babies, is there any need?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
If you are already a worrier the more things your monitor "checks", the more things you're going to worry about. When the breathing monitor isn't going off you'll wonder if it's really working, with video you'll spend your day watching the monitor.

I would suggest a good quality audio monitor with 2 receivers. What will work best for you depends on where you live, in an apartment complex, a house, near an airport...etc.

If you don't have to worry about interference then a model like the Fisher Price "Lights and Sounds" is a great choice. Always rated highly and about $40. It's the model I've used for over 3 years with no problems. If intereference could be a problem, skip the 900 MHz models and go with one in the 2.45 a 2.54 GHz range. The prices are almost the same, and with the 2.xx GHz models you're pretty much guaranteed no interference.

A couple of good choices in that range are the First Years "True Choice digital monitor" ($80), and the Graco "I-vibe" ($90). Both have 2 receivers so you can leave one in your bedroom, and have one to carry around.

Hope this helps,

Alan

Has anyone used a video baby monitor?

Pregnant w

How do they work?
What are the pros and cons?
I am thinking about buying one that you can have two monitors and see two rooms at once and was wondering how many people prefer it.

Answer
Congrats on baby #2!

I couldn't live with out my video monitor!! I have the Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor. The picture is so clear both at night and during the day. I love being able to check on my baby with out waking her. I don't even have to get out of bed unless she really needs me! I think if I only had the audio, I would have been getting up a lot more often to investigate every sound, especially during the first few months. The handheld part has a button on top so you can turn off the video screen if the light bothers you at night. Then if you hear something you feel you need to check on, simply click the button and the video comes back on. I read the reviews for this product. Many people say they could not get a signal. I never had a problem. I also read that they can interfere with wi-fi. My husband is a web developer... he never would have allowed wi-fi interference!

I highly recommend this monitor to all my friends. The only con I can think of is that I have had to change the channel due to static. Seriously, it's a flick of a button and I've had to do it maybe 3 times in 7 months. No biggie! I know you can get an extra camera for this monitor, but I don't need one yet. Here is what one person commented: "We bought a second camera to go with the monitor we already had. I love being able to switch back and forth between my two kids' rooms. Only issue is if the monitor is too close to one camera, you can have interference when trying to check on the other one."

Recommendations for a baby monitor?

toma

I am looking to add a baby monitor on my registry and want to know which one you might recommend? I live in a 1350 sq ft apartment, the baby's room and my room are on opposite ends. Also I am on the first floor and have laundry right below me so I would like to be able to bring it with me, I am not sure about the distance, but it is relatively close and the baby's room is directly above the washer and dryer.
Thanks in advance!

Answer
you should not get a baby moniter you should just stay with the baby because you never know if the baby could get hurt you should just do the laundry when somone can come to your house and watch the baby while you are gone

Whats a good baby monitor for a 2 story house?

I am about to have my first baby and i would like to buy a baby monitor. Has anyone got any tips, should i go digital or is there really no need. Please help.

Answer
I have BT monitors which i have found brilliant!!

The main handset is in my childs room, on my hand set i can play a number of different lullabys, it tell me the room temp, it beeps to tell me if the room is to hot or cold. The sensitivity is excellent and can be set at different levels, you can hear your baby breathing at high sensitivity. It also has an intercom where i can speak to my baby when i press a botton. It also has a night light that i can turn on and off from your monitor. it also reaches up to 300 metres.

Sorry to go on abit but i would recommend these to anyone. I got my on Ebay for £32! I think at the time they were 70-80 in the shops.

Here is a link if u want to have a look at them

Baby Doppler's.... to monitor fetal heartbeat. Any suggestions?

momie_2bee

I am 13 weeks pregnant and want to reant a baby doppler to monitor the babys heartbeat. I have lost several babies and didn't know until i went in with no heartbeat. My last baby at 20 weeks due to umbilical cord accident. To ease the worry of not having a heartbeat between doc visits he suggested a baby doppler, has anyone reanted on from the net before? What is the best one to use and did you have success with it. Thanks

Answer
Doppler uses ultrasound, and overexposure to ultrasound has certain risks.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=8105165
http://www.aims.org.uk/Journal/Vol17No1/ultrasound.htm
http://www.aims.org.uk/Journal/Vol16No4/ultrasound.htm
http://www.birthlove.com/free/ultrasound.html

Doppler is a constant stream of ultrasund, while imaging ultrasound uses pulses. One minute of doppler exposure equals anywhere from 20-35 minutes of imaging ultrasound.
http://www.mothering.com/articles/pregnancy_birth/birth_preparation/ultrasound-definition.html

When the doppler is close to the baby's head, it can be perceived by the baby, and makes a sound similar to the highest note on a piano, but at the volume of a passing train locomotive.
http://www.acoustics.org/press/142nd/press_release.html#t16
http://www.acfnewsource.org/cgi-bin/printer.cgi?465

While I understand the fears and worries of pregnancy after a loss (one of my babies died at birth, and my next pregnancy after his death was VERY stressful), there are risks you should weigh against the benefits for renting a doppler, I just want you to be aware so you can make an informed choice.

Since you lost your baby due to umbilical cord accident, maybe you could benefit from a consultation with Dr. Collins? He is one of the most widely recognized experts on umbilical cord compression in the US. Not much study has been done of this topic, but he is working to change that.
Here is his website, please take a look!

Baby Savannah Monitor Lizard?

Q. Ive had my baby Savannah Monitor Lizard for about a month now, & ive made sure to hold him 10-30 minutes each and every day because i heard if you don't handle him frequently he'll become aggressive. But the thing is, he is so shy and scared of me.. Im very gently with him & he will sleep next to me and cuddle sometimes but if hes out in the open or my hands aren't cuffed while holding him he'll quickly jump and run away.. i sometimes walk by his cage when He's in there and il spot him on top of his little cave basking but the second i walk in the room he'll run and hide... im hoping he wont always be this distant but he might just still be getting used to me. Does anyone know any ways i could build trust with him at this age? he wont let me hand feed him or anything quite yet either, he wont even eat if im in the room, but the second i leave and come back all of his food in his bowl is gone, hes not agressive whatsoever, just shy.

Answer
Mine was like that when i first got him. I just moved slowly around him and pet him for a bit before picking him up. All baby lizards are a bit flighty and will choose to run away when given the chance. This will go away as he grows and becomes more confident. Right now, he sees you as a predator because you are so much larger than him. But, as he gets larger, his natural fear of predators will go away. Mine is puppy dog tame now and hes 3 years old.

Is this an okay "baby budget" for first time teen parents?

Idk if that helps with anything tho haha :o
Not funny... _
I'm only spending $10,000 tops D:
Well I'm turning 18 this June and that's when I get like some of my trust fund money so only a couple million out of the $39M. Idk I'm confused ughhh :((
I got the prices from some dudes and we only want one child soo yeah and we do love our baby so money is not a problem at all:)
I live in Maryland if that helps
Lady I'm not a little boy I'm 17 I don't really care much for your opinion on teen parents. And judging by your name you're probably a drunk and a failure at being a mother.
Why so much hate Mark? Can't we all just get along here it's a simple question please don't turn this into an argument. Gay people can in fact have babies not themselves but there's methods. You should look into researching it. Have a nice dayyy:)

Answer
Goodness gracious that's a lot of money. Let me guess grand parents paying for this? Because if you plan on having a baby shower and have lots of rich friends you aren't going to be getting a lot of those things. Also I know when I was 16-18 I didn't make a lot of money working.

Babyâs Room

Crib $200
Crib mattress $100
Crib sheets 4 of them $20 a sheet, so $80
Bassinet: $100 or get a pack'n'play for about $150 and use it for after baby is no longer sleeping in it.
Mobile: should come in the bed set you're buying for the crib
Rocking chair $300, you can get a very nice glider with foot stool for this price
Diaper changing table $300, I see these as a waste too, but you can get a nice one for about $150
Diaper pail- total waste of money
Baby books: $100 how many books are you buying?
Baby monitor: $350?! Why do you need to spend that much on a baby monitor, you can get a very nice Graco one for about $60

Baby Clothing

Pajamas, 5 pairs: You can get a 3 pack of Gerber for $14.99, so for $200 you could get 13 packages which is 39 PJ's
Onesies, 5 to 10: You can buy onesies in groups of 5 and only pay $9.99-$19.99
Play outfits, 5: What do you think the PJ's are for? You buy outfits second hand or on clearance, go to Wal-mart even
Sleep sack, 2: $80, Gerber sleep sacks, 2 pack $9.99
Bibs, 5: 5 pack of bibs for $19.99
Blankets, 4: 5 pack of Gerber $19.99 and the more plush blankets are right around $15 each

Other Baby Equipment

Infant car seat and base: $150 tops and that is for Graco
Convertible car seat: $500, you don't need this until they are 1+years old and that is insane, I got a certified one for $50
Stroller: $800, LOL $100-$200, you usually can buy the matching stroller and carseat together
Play mat: $100, seriously? $50
Swing: $250, I got a plug in one, which are hard to find for $200, most are about $150
Bouncer: $175, at the most $100
Soft or musical toys: $100, how many toys are you buying a baby that can't even lift it's own head yet? A few at $5/toy is plenty
Sling or other baby carrier: $150, you can get a Snugli for $20

Baby Care and Feeding

Bathtub: $60, does it wash the baby for you? $20
Baby shampoo and lotion: $50? What kind of shampoo and lotion are you buying? $20 tops
Bath towels and washrags: $60
Humidifier: $100, unless needed this is a useless item also
Pacifiers, 4: $30, these only cost about $5/pacifier
Bottles, set of 6: $60, $10/bottle, are you crazy? You can buy them by the pack for about that
Bottle brush: $25, I have one and it only cost me $4.99
Baby spoons and bowls: $50, don't need until they are at least 6 months old
Safety gates: $275, the basic wooden gates do the job just fine and I only paid $15 for mine

Total: $6,835, estimated total when you don't have endless amounts of money $2095.

You really need to get with reality and realize that spending that kind of money, unless it is yours is ridiculous. You also forgot formula, diapers, wipes, hats, burp rags, breastpump if nursing. Dresser to put those $200 pjs in. A jumper, exersaucer and the list continues to grow the bigger they get. Stop looking at high end top dollar and get a realistic idea of what you can actually afford. Good luck because I think you're going to need it.

baby monitoring during labour....electrodes?

saz

my twins are almost ready to be born and my doc says that during the labour they will attach a clip to babies heads to monitor their vitals. has anyone else had this, was it uncomfortable, unsuccessful, mark babys head? how does it work exactly?

Answer
Little bit of an overview of 'Internal Fetal Monitoring'
If you want more information, maybe in more detail, google
'Internal Fetal Monitoring'

Internal fetal monitoring is used for high risk births or during a normal birth where the birth team is having trouble keeping the baby on the monitor or the baby's reaction doesn't look great on the less accurate form of external fetal monitoring (EFM).
With internal fetal monitoring the mother's bag of waters must be broken. If it has not broken on it's own then an amniotomy will be performed to break the water. A fetal scalp electrode is placed by screwing a tiny sire into the top layers of the baby's scalp, then relaying the baby's heart rate to the fetal monitor. This is more accurate because it does not use ultrasound.

At the same time an intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) can also be placed inside the uterus. It goes between the uterine wall and the baby. This also allows the midwife or doctor to know the exact force from the contractions, rather than a simple graphical representation given by external monitoring. This is very useful in the case of induction.

Internal monitoring can also prevent an unnecessary cesarean for fetal distress if it shows the baby is healthy, compared to the less accurate external monitoring. Though there are risks associated with the internal monitor:

Risk of infection for mom and baby
Restricts movement of the mother
Reduction in movement can cause more pain

buying a baby monitor?

Peqo

hi we are having twins soon and are thinking of buying this monitor:
http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Handheld-Monitor-Screen/dp/B001NAATW0/ref=br_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3TTMBRDDATJ1H&colid=3VLFRXN5N0TET

we want to buy 2 so that we can see each baby individually on two separate monitors --- the babies will be in the same room. do you think having two baby monitors in a room will cause an interference in the image or will one affect the functioning of the other?

thanks
on amazon it seems to be cheaper to just buy two of this rather than buy one and an extra monitor. for the reason the extra monitor is really expensive (much more than the base and monitor)

Answer
I wouldn't think they would cause interference with each other, it runs on a digital signal, not analog. So you should be fine with getting two. That monitor is excellent. I bought the same one for my son. He's 2 weeks old now and i don't have to worry about how he is sleeping or disturbing him if he is, the monitor has a great image and good sound quality.

Which baby video monitor do I buy?

Brianna

My husband and I have definately settled on buying a video monitor rather than an audio monitor. So, as far as video monitors, which ones are recommended. Or also if you tried a specific one, please tell me if you had problems with it. I have been looking at the Summer Day&Night Handheld and the Summer Infant Slim and Secure handheld (more expensive). Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
I have the Summer Day & Night Handheld. The color is not very good and it makes some static sounds, but the picture is so clear that I can see my baby's arm (she's a side sleeper) rise and fall with her breathing. I like how easy it is to clip on or stand up, and it's easy to tell when the battery is getting low. I kind of wanted the Slim & Secure, but it was so expensive. I'm not sure if it would have been better, or if other monitors are better, because this is the only video monitor I've had. But I can tell you that even though I bought mine used, I haven't had any issues with it yet. I hope this helps at least a little bit!

What Is a good Baby Monitor?

Pam

I've been looking on amazon for a baby monitor but it seems like all the reviews i read contradict each other. i was hoping someone could compare the experiences they had with baby monitors and talk about which brands they loved or hated

Answer
Hi Pam,

It depends on your budget and what you want from a baby monitor. Basically there are three ways of monitoring; audio, video, or movement sensing. Generally the cheaper baby monitors are just audio ones, and the more expensive options use video. For under $100, I can recommend the Angelcare Baby Movement and Sound Monitor or for a video monitor, the Levana Jena. For higher end baby monitors, the Samsung SEW-3037W and the Levana Astra are both good choices.

Baby Monitors?

Dreamt_Ill

Any suggestions on Baby Monitors? Which one do you love/hate? Which interfere with wireless internet? Thx!

Answer
We have the Fisher Price Lights and Sounds. It was okay if we used batteries with the receiver but if you plugged it in you got a radio station. The baby slept in our room for a couple months and then went to his own room with the monitor. After a couple of months I realized that every little sound the baby made was waking us up so we would check on him and wake him up. Once we got rid of it he had to be awake enough for us to hear him. Keep in mind his room was next to ours so we definitely hear him when he really needs us and is not just making noise.

Baby monitor question?

Carrie

Would you rather have a video monitor or a sound-only monitor? I have a video monitor and I love it!

Answer
I have the angel care sound and movement monitor and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am not sure if you can see a baby breathing on the video monitor but with the sound and movement monitor if my baby would stop breathing it would alarm and let me know. Thank God that has never happened but it gives me a peace of mind knowing that if it did I would wake up with in 20 sec. later. Granted a video monitor would really give me an in site on what my children are doing in their room when they are suppose to be going to sleep but other then that I prefer my angel care monitor.

Can the baby monitors prevent SIDS(sudden infant death syndrome)?

chiromichi

I have learned that most mothers in U.S. use baby monitors so that they can let their baby sleep alone in their own room from one day after they were born. I am Japanese and I never hear about baby monitors in Japan because Japanese mothers do not let them sleep alone until 4 or five because of their limited rooms. Japanese houses are so small because this country is small...
Even though parents sleep in the same room with their baby, SIDS still happens as they can't watch him for twenty four hours, of course. But still, here people have small houses and traditionally, they sleep with their baby so I wondered how American parents felt like letting their baby sleep in another room with monitors. To me, it sounds like so "independent" and "dry" relationship with the baby. Japanese parents and child have more "dependent" relationship because of the housing issue and old thinking of how childcare should be like. I just wanted to know how parents avoid SIDS with just a piece of device! Any answers welcome.
Japanese way of thinking, I feel safer to put the baby right next to me. I went to Canada and there, the kids in my host family were so independent-minded so I think sleeping alone is a great way as it is the general way of childrearing in western world. I had slept in my parents room until I was 14, and it was "real" hard to sleep alone^^; so I feel sleeping alone at their first day is like how very young! I agree with the idea though because every kid wants to see their parents loving each other without their interference. I interfered their relationship a bit as I kept thinking "dad is mine and not mom's" all the time in my childhood. My mother must have felt lonely. I was definitely daddy's girl but it wasn't good for me as I was an only child and became selfish and thought my mom like a servent at times. She in fact, was like an older sister, servent, and a mother in my mind but anyway this kind of child is none in Japan though.
I was a rare child thinking like this in Japan but as many things always follow the American ways, this won't do, because Japan can't be any larger than now(^^). But independent-mind is good especially when they grow up.

Answer
No, they just allow you to hear when the baby is screaming and needs to be fed. Also, a video baby monitor may be useful in making sure the baby is sleeping in the right position to prevent SIDS (on the back.)

What is proven to help prevent SIDS:
1. a "sleep sack", or wearable blanket that will not suffocate child
2. no pillow or anything else in crib
3. a fan in the room, circulating air
4. non smoking house
5. cooler rather than warmer temperature in baby's room
6. baby placed directly next to parents' bed in its own "co-sleeper" bed
7. sleeping on the back in a "sleep positioner" until 6 months
(premature babies are also at risk for SIDS)

SIDS is definitely a concern, but so is feeding. If the house is very small, you will hear the baby and will not need a baby monitor.

Monitors and SIDS?

I have the bebesounds angel care monitor which sets off a beep if the baby hasn't moved for 10 seconds, and an alarm at 20. The 10 second beep has gone off twice since my baby has been home (she's 2 weeks old tomorrow), but when I went to her bassinet, she was fine. I'm wondering if this is a problem or if they're just false alarms? I'm also wondering, if the baby does stop moving for 20 seconds, are they able to be helped through rescue breathing and/or CPR? I'm imagining there has to be something that can be done or the alarms wouldn't exist. Thanks for your advice!

Answer
I am a nurse at a childrens hospital. i have heard alot of people say that this bebesounds monitor is crap and can go off falsely..I would not worry. while your newborn was in the nursery at the hospital they are monitored for any signs of apnea or breathing problems..and if this is suspected you are usually sent home with a hospital grade monitor. if your baby was not less than 36 weeks gestation and seems to be healthy, her risk of sids or apnea is low. while there is no explanation or cause for sids yet, there are new tests out saying sids is a malformation in the brainstem that can be detected. As for that 10 second beep going off...babies less than 3 mos old often get comfortable and are not moving or have very slight pauses in their breathing..all their systems are immature. it is nothing to worry about. Also...as far as the 20 second alarm..While it is ALWAYS an emergency if a baby truly stops breathing..many premature babies "forget to breathe" often...especially when they are eating..and just some gentle stimulation..tapping their feet or picking them up or rubbing their backs starts the breathing reflex back up. remember that..and if that doesent work..do rescue breathing and call 9-1-1..babies are much stronger than we think and can usually come through a respiratory crisis quite quickly!! hang in there..You're a great mom! and always put the baby on her back to sleep no matter what!

Baby monitor for Middle East?

rooney

I live in the US and I want to buy a video monitor for family in Iran but I know the electricity is different. Can I still purchase it for them and purchase some apparatus that would convert the electricity?

Answer
after your purchase the monitor, see what the watts are so you make sure you buy a converter That is big enough for the usage the monitor requires, (you will need to get 2 converters as there are 2 parts to the monitor system)then look for the converter...you may also try to buy a monitor from amazon.com.uk they would have 220v appliances and no converter would be needed. or look at other European websites for monitors. Good luck with this
