Baby monitor for ipad?

N

I am looking for a baby monitor camera to use on my ipad. The one I have now uses a monitor screen but my house is too big and it is now out of range. I want a monitor to use with wifi so I can see my baby on my ipad. I would like one with the same features as my current one. One that pans, and I can talk back to the baby when shes crying. I've found one so far, (Motorola Blink1 Wi-Fi Video Camera for Remote Viewing with iPhone and Android Smartphones and Tablets ) but looking for other options and personal feedback. Thanks!

Answer
I have Foscam ip camera at home and still using it after a year. Initial setup wasn't easy, but when you're done with setup it works properly. Here you can find more info on baby monitors / cameras : http://babyneedslist.com/health-and-safety-products-baby-monitors/

Poll: Do you think that two-month-olds should have iPhones?

Q. Or would it be better for them to have an Android?

Answer
I say a baby monitor will be much better

How can I answer my sons questions from the internet about the bible?

Moving For

Please no athiest nonbeliever and troll comments. Show some respect.

Forgive me for sounding disgruntled. This question is for fellow Christians only. I am one of the many who will attest to the internet being an unholy influence on our children. Unless you can be there to monitor everything that is being said and done there is no way you can control what another person says to your baby over the internet. I know that during my days of ignorance as to how much damage the internet can do to a child my boy has picked up ideas and influences from TOTAL STRANGERS! reading the questions here have confirmed my fears. The athiest have overrun this place and many other places making it an unsafe environment for our children.
My boy has asked things like why did GOD "sacrifice himself to himself"- Having asked him where he gets all these doubts it has been confirmed to me that these are ideas that have been learned on the internet.
Is it ever OK for me to say that I just don't know? I have never had to outright rebuke blasphemy like this before and am unable to go about answering these questions without some sound advice. I will be meeting with my pastor but meanwhile I would much appreciate input from the Christian community.
Please send prayers my way

Answer
a great thing to have is the YouVersion Bible app that can answer many questions about the subject with a simple keyword. It is free (to my knowledge) in the app store for iPod touch and iPhone. I'll be praying!

Tell me about yourself????????

Im not a creep, im just really bored!!

I am 20. I live with my 23 year old boyfriend! We are very happy together and are planning to get married soon! We have 3 little kittens name Josie, Farrah, and Penelope (we call her Penelopuss)! They are like our babies! :) We get to spend sooo much time together! I graduated in 2009, and i absolutely love my job! My hobbies include anything as long as im with my boyfriend! :) now tell me about you?

Answer
I come from a family of 6; 2 brothers, one sister. I am originally from California, but my family moved to Layton, Utah when I was 7. I've lived in Utah ever since then, and currently live just outside of Salt Lake City, on the west side of the valley.

I have my own house which I share with two cats. I work for a large bank, in their ATM department, where I monitor the atms all day, and dispatch service when they run out of cash or break down.

I'm also a bit of a computer geek. I used to work at Cisco Tech Support in their IOS and VPN department, so I tinker arond with computers and networking as a hobby.

I enjoy audio and video production, have gone to school to be a radio announcer, but as of yet, have never held a job in that field. Back in the late 80's/early 90's, I worked for a video tape duplication company. One of our clients, for a while, were the producers of Barney The Dinosaur. It used to be my job to sit at the quality control desk every night and watch Barney videos over and over again until I was sick of them! (I don't think I've ever recovered, either.)

I've never married, I don't have any kids.

I enjoy music, camping, electronics, and traveling. I also enjoy studying people; they can be fascinating sometimes.

Should I upgrade my computer or can you give me tips?

Dylan

I've been having issues with my computer for awhile as far as gaming goes. I bought my computer strictly for gaming purposes, but I'm having issues with all of my games. V-sync is my main issue, because with it off the screen tears terribly and with it on there is very slow mouse lag. I want to call the guy who made my computer and ask him, but doesn't know much about gaming. What I need to know is if something in my computer may need an upgrade because it might be conflicting with the graphics card. Anyway I'd really like if you could answer this with detail, because I've already asked this many times and most of the answers are very unhelpful and conflicting. Computer Specs below.
Graphics: ASUS Nvdia Geforce GTX 660
Ram: 8gb DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-14900, DDR3 (non-ECC)
Processor: AMD A8-3870 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 2.99GHz
Motherboard: msi A7MA-G55
Monitor: 1600 x 900 60hz
Power Supply: 550W
Hard Drive: 1T
Internet Speed: 8063 Kbps / 1147 Kbps
IOS: Windows 7 Ultimate

Answer
There are several issues w/ v-sync. First off is that the higher the frame rate the better the mouse response even if that frame rate is higher than the monitors refresh rate. Once you enable v-sync the computer keep the frame rate at speeds that can be multiplied into 60 using whole numbers. That means 15, 20, 30, or 60FPS(40 might be possible to but I dont remember.. If you keep dipping below 60 you will hit the 30cap or 40 if it exists.

What you should try right away is turning off v-sync then go into the nvidia control panel and force adaptive v-sync. It will enable v-sync at 60fps but disable it when under 60fps. This will keep you from getting screwed into a 30fps speed.

There may be some tearing at low frame rates but should be minimal.

All those v-sync modes work by dropping frames so your card is doing the work of a higher frame rate but then having frames discarded to ensure it can easily be synced with the 60Hz refresh rate of your monitor.

If you are going to upgarde anything it needs to be your video card. The 660 is not an enthusiast card. Get a amd 7950 at the least or a 7970 or gtx670 or gtx680.

You can sell your current card to recoup some cash. I am a nvidia fan and at the time I bought my gtx670 it was a better performer per dollar than what AMD offered but now the tables are turned. AMD offers the best bang for the buck by far. A 7950 will eat yout card for a late night snack.

The rest of the system is great. If you have not overclocked your processor than do so now. A 20% boost should be as easy as stealing candy from a baby cat that doesn't like candy. You can certainly get more than that but surely 20% is stupid easy.

Hope this helps

------
Also in response to the Intel recommendation and hd recommendation those guys don't need to be spending anymore time in the computer section answering questions.

you already stated the issue v-sync or tearing so checking your HD is just silly. As for the Intel bit the 3rd gen i7 is the last 1155 chip so any i5 chip and board you buy now will not be able to be upgraded at all n the future.

I have a i5 3570k at 4.5GHz and a GTX670 that is overclocked to get about 20% more performance and even that struggles at 2560x1440p resolutions. At 1600x900 there would be no problems.

Also a few other things DO NOT use anti aliasing except for fxaa and txaa. MSAA is to demanding for that video card and will severally reduce frames rates. Disable motion blur as it reduces frame rates and the quality of the scene. In nvidia control panel turn on anisotropic sample optimization, set texture filtering quality to high performance, enable trilinear optimization, turn on triple buffering and set vertical sync to adaptive.

Try the game with the trilinear optimization on and off and see if you notice a difference. Also find out if your monitor can be overclocked and if so by how much. If you can get your monitor to run at 75hz that will increase your mouse performance quite a bit with vsync on. If you can hit 90 even better.

Good luck and sorry about all the idiots. You wont get a better answer than this one on this site.

Has anyone had problems with the Baby's Quiet Sounds Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor?

I bought this monitor 2 weeks ago and now it is not working. When I turn it on the video screen part won't come on. If it does it stays on for no more then 1 minute then shuts off. So basically I just have the sound part. Has anyone else had this problem? If you did, what did you do? I know I should contact the manufacturer but I was just curious if this has happened to anyone else.
They are not cheap monitors.

Answer
LOTS of people have reported problems with all brands of video monitors. Apparently, a technology that doesn't work very well when so cheap (cheap being a relative term).

dehydrated baby rabbit ?!?

Claire Mar

my bunny had its second litter of kits and one is very small compared to the others. i read that u should pinch the skin on the back of their necks and if it stays tent or takes a while to go down it is severely dehydrated. i was looking on this site and someone said to take the mum and the kit out and let is suckle. we done that and it suckled but about 10 Min's later it looked normal again. what should we do and if will the mum still feed the other kits seeing as she just fed one ???
it is a part of a litter of 6 as when we discovered them there was 9 but 3 were dead

Answer
Unfortunately this is quiet common with all types of baby animals, especially if it is part of a large litter, best thing you can do is just keep monitoring it, if it does get worse then you can substitute the mothers milk with baby formula but personnally i would only use this as an absolute late resort

Video baby monitor with ip capabilities?

Jack

Twin baby girls on the way and my wife and I are looking for a video baby monitor. I would happily throw down some more dough if they made a video baby monitor with ip capabilities so I can watch them at work. I would buy just a good ip camera but I cant find anything that can link a wireless handset to it. If there are any solutions without having both a monitor and then a separate camera please let me know. Thanks.
The ip setup isnt the big deal. The problem is that we'd like to set up a portable monitor (as seen with regular vid baby monitors) to use around the house. The home portable monitor would be the primary use, while the ip settings will be my selfish way to still be with all three of my girls =)~... Let me know if theres means to accomplish =) thanks.

Answer
I have heard of a friend-of-friend who uses the following setup as a dog monitor (to watch the dog from home via webcam) which might work for you:

1. wireless IP camera setup to view whatever you're after,
2. create a skype account to run at home,
3. set the skype account to use the IP camera for video calls and
4. set the skype account to auto-answer incoming video calls.

he can then video-call from his own skype account at work to the dog's account and see what's going on throughout the day. and the camera can be moved to a new location without moving the computer.

the catch is, you can't operate the panning of the IP camera via skype. if you need this, perhaps something like Team Viewer might be better - it's a remote desktop app free for non-commercial use, that will let you remote in to your home computer and access the IP camera controls that way (Team Viewer is REAL easy to use).

for your case, I suppose you'd want sound as well, so seek out an IP camera with mic (if you want to hear them) or with both mic and speakers (if you want them to hear you too).

**Edit** Oh, I see what you mean - you want a portable receiver unit with a screen to relay the video to. I had a poke around and came up with not alot.

I can find wireless cameras with receivers (usually 4 cams + 1 receiver) - ie. glorified baby monitors,
and I can find a couple of iPhone apps to receive a signal from an IP Camera (see links below), but no IP Camera portable receiver.

When will tmobile come out with the iPhone?

sockssoxs1

I have seen articles and reports that T-Mobile will carry apple products in the new year (2013). When can I expect to see the iphone 5 on T-Mobiles network?

thanks

Answer
I let my friend (coworker) who owns an iPhone 5 use my Note 2 just to compare, and showed him how to use it.

I then asked him why people prefer iPhone 5 over the customization that Android gives. He had no answer to that (he did attempt to say that the iPhone was simpler to use, and I described that the it was true that even babies could use the iPhone, but the Android only takes a day to customize to ones wants and needs), just that he never knew Android had gotten so good. He then offered to trade me his iPhone 5 and a gaming screen he had previously used for his triple monitor setup. I stoutly declined.

This sounds like I'm just trying to spite you because even if the events that I have just tried to describe are false (and they are not), they are impolite.

So I won't educate you on the benefits of the Note 2, and Android as an OS, and why I'm not here to start a war, but merely to inform you that iPhone is definitely starting to fall off as a feature full phone every generation. Every generation, the iPhone is declining. I won't speak of it anymore, and just try answering your question without killing myself over how much a tech geek like me needs to tell you how much better Android is. All you have to do is research and use google anyway if you wanted to know, right?

So about iPhone on T-mobile. You probably won't be seeing the iPhone 5 likely appear in next month. After that, they will be very eager to get the iPhone 5 if they truly are considering offering the iPhone 5 (they already offer the Galaxy Note 2, though... OOPS what am I saying?!?!). So around 3-4 months? Yep very likely.

But don't buy a phone on a contract. You will end up paying more. Do you wonder why contracts lock you in and lower the price on phones? It's not really because they want you to stay (well yes they do), but that they gain a better profit anyway. They lock you into a plan that is very bad compared to prepaid plans so every month you will be shelling out tons more money for tons less service. Let's say you pay $90 every month for the same service you get at $49... There you go. 2 year contract = 12+12 = 24 x 40 = 960. You will be shelling out an extra $960 along with the small fee you payed with the phone when you signed your contract ($200 maybe?).

See, I'm just trying to educate you on what choice you should take: prepaid.

Prepaid? Look at Straight Talk, Solavei, T-mobile Prepaid (hidden because they like you using contracts), there are many great options. Check them out.

Do I really need a baby monitor?

Scarlett

I'm looking at what I still need to get for my baby and I'm wondering if I really need a baby monitor? We live in a single level apartment and will continue to live in apartments and I believe the only time I wouldn't be able to hear him is if I'm in the shower but I have really intense hearing for example if I hear my cat meow at night I wake up lol. I'm just wondering if its something you actually need or if its more for people who have bigger homes who maybe may not be able to hear what goes on in the house? Just looking for peoples personal experiences. Thank you!

Answer
If you are in a smallish house, and baby will always be with in range, then I wouldn't bother.
We never had one with our first in our old house, as our rooms were RIGHT next to each other, and even with the door closed, we could hear him snoring!
However, we are in a different house now and I am due in 10 weeks and I have a monitor for when I start sleeping our 2nd son in his room, as it's at the other end of the house.

what's the best type of baby monitor?

penmaster

we're having our first baby and we're not sure of all the listening monitors out there, which one is best?

Answer
From my ConsumerReports.Org subscriptions:

Baby monitors
Baby monitors are an extra set of ears--and, in some cases, eyes--that allow you to keep tabs on your sleeping baby. There are two basic types: audio and video/audio. Both operate within a selected radio frequency band to send sound from the babyâs room to a receiver. Each monitor consists of a transmitter (child unit) and one or more receivers (parent units). Video/audio monitors have a small wall-mounted or tabletop camera to transmit images to a video monitor.

A baby monitorâs challenge is to transmit recognizable sound (and/or images) over a distance with minimal interference--static, buzzing, or irritating noise--from other electronic products and transmitters, including cordless phones that share the same frequency bands, cellular phones, appliances, and even fluorescent lights. Interference can also be hearing someone elseâs conversation, which makes it difficult, if not impossible, to decipher the sounds coming from your monitor. Interference can also mean fuzzy reception in video monitors. Overall, interference is probably the biggest complaint parents have about baby monitors.

SHOPPING SECRETS

Feel free to skip this purchase. Some parents are reassured by the constant surveillance of a babyâs every whimper and movement. Others find it nerve-racking and feel like they have to be hypervigilant. Decide which category youâre in before you go shopping. A monitor isnât a must-have. If you live in a small house or apartment or want a break when your baby is sleeping--which is legitimate--itâs OK not to have one.

Consider your home and lifestyle. You may appreciate a monitor with both sound and lights, so you can âseeâ your babyâs cries. The louder he cries, the more lights light up. If youâll be taking business calls during naptime, for example, it can be helpful to turn the sound down low and rely on the lights. A video monitor can serve the same purpose, though we believe an audio monitor with lights can suffice. Similarly, if you live in a large house, you may want a monitor with two receivers rather than just one. In general, look for monitors with features that make it easy to move about, such as a compact parent unit that clips onto your belt. Try it on before buying, if possible; antennas have been known to poke the wearer.

Factor in your phone. To minimize the possibility of interference, choose a baby monitor that operates on a different frequency band from other wireless products in your home. A 2.4GHz cordless phone and a 2.4GHz monitor can interfere with each other. The 2.4GHz frequency band is widely used for cordless phones.

Consider digital if you have nearby neighbors with babies. If you want to be sure the sounds transmitted by your monitor are heard only by you and not by neighbors who might have a similar model (or a cordless phone using the same frequency band), go with a digital monitor, not an analog one. This will also ensure that the sounds you hear are coming from your baby and not the neighborâs. Analog monitors operate on a particular frequency band, much like a radio, sending signals from monitor to receiver in a straight shot. Digital monitors, on the other hand, encode the signal as it travels between the monitor and the receiver, making it nearly impossible for the sounds to be heard by others, and reduces the possibility of running into interference from other electronic devices. (Learn more about wireless interference.)

Learn the return policy. Before you buy or register for any wireless product, such as a baby monitor, be sure the store will let you return or exchange it, in case you canât get rid of interference problems. If you receive a monitor as a baby shower gift and know where it was purchased, try it before the retailerâs return period (usually 30 days) runs out.

WHATâS AVAILABLE

The major brands of baby monitors, in alphabetical order, are: Evenflo (www.evenflo.com), Fisher-Price (www.fisher-price.com), Graco (www.gracobaby.com), Mobicam (www.getmobi.com), Philips (www.hearmybaby.com), Safety 1st (www.safety1st.com), Sony (www.sony.com), Summer Infant (www.summerinfant.com), The First Years (www.thefirstyears.com), and Unisar BébéSounds (www.bebesounds.com). Prices range from $15 to $200 for audio monitors, $100 to $200 for audio/video monitors. The higher the price, the more features and frills.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Among the models we tested, the digital baby monitors are top-rated. Short of DECT technology, thereâs no guarantee against interference with either digital or analog monitors, although digital monitors are less susceptible and more private. One digital model in particular, the Philips SCD 589, is loaded with features, and since it operates in the fairly lightly used, for now, 1.9GHZ frequency band, itâs unlikely to pick up interference. However, at $200, itâs pricey. (See our full report on this model.)

If you anticipate interference and want to spend less than $200, buy a less-pricey digital model thatâs not in the same frequency band as other wireless products in your home, and consider models with more than two channels. The other digital monitors we tested were very good: The Graco iMonitor ($90) has two parent units; a similar version with one parent unit is available for $60. The Summer Infant Secure Sounds ($50) is a good choice for privacy, though, like the Graco iMonitor, it has fewer frills than the Philips SCD 589. See our full monitor Ratings (available to
subscribers
) for details.

We suggest avoiding the Evenflo WhisperConnect Sensa ($50). It has a Pet Sensor, which is designed to alert you to any unusual movement around your babyâs crib--a cat or other pet climbed in, say. That feature worked well, but you can easily keep pets away from the crib by closing the door to your babyâs room. In addition, we found that one of the three samples we tested had an annoying problem: The âout of rangeâ alarm would go off at random. This happened over and over again with that particular sample, and once or twice with one of the other two samples we tested.

The audio/video monitors we tested have small color screens, and unlike earlier models, reasonably good pictures. However, we found them to be susceptible to interference, particularly from microwave ovens in use. Some models, such as the MobiCam ($190), let you tape to a VCR or watch your monitor on the television set. But overall, we donât see much need for a video baby monitor.

Highest rated one was the Philips Digital SCD 589 for 200$, the next one right after that was the The First Years Digital for 50$.

What is the best baby monitor out there?

KanKan

Im going to be a first time mom & my baby's nursery is on a different floor in my house. Im looking for the best portable baby monitor, possibly a picture one. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
I would go for a basic sound only monitor. When I was setting up my nursery we bought a motion and sound monitor. I found it to be useless for a new born as the baby was too small to set it off. It needed an adult or something bigger to set it off as it needed big movements (a hand waving in front of it.) I have one by fisher price that came with 2 speakers and the base. It is really good and picks up all sounds (it is so sensitive that it picks up the grand father clock chiming in the dinning room!) I love it. It only cost us about $80 from baby target.

How can I use my video camera for a baby monitor?

Abe

I have an older digital video camera that I really don't use very much. I am trying to find a way to hook it up in the baby's-to-be room and connect it to our TV in our bedroom.

Are there certain cords that I need? Is this possible? I'm hoping to fix it so that it is on, but not recording.

Answer
You can get a wireless transmitter, or buy some extra long Video Cable.. But you may have a problem with the camera's auto off feature. if its not recording it will go off after a certain amount of time.

hi, I am 4 weeks 3 days preganant, LMP was 12/2/2013(without any doubt).Since day before yesterday i start?

hi, I am 4 weeks 3 days preganant, LMP was 12/2/2013(without any doubt).Since day before yesterday i started having crampy lower abdomen pain for which i consulted my OBGYN, She urgent made me undergo the TVS which revealed pregancy of 5weeks 5days (no idea, how ?ultrasongraphist told me its all based on measurement , though I am pretty sure about my LMP dates) with the left side corpous leuteal cyst and just the gestational sac without fetal pole & no Yolk sac was visualised , which apparently should have been noticed till now according to the doctor,he told me tht he will repeat again the usg after 5-6days for the confirmation, ans it could me blighted ovum..on review with the my Gyanac, she told me tht we will go with the LMP dates as they r more realiable n will repeat the scan after 10 days. she is put me on complete bed rest with TAB SUSTEN 200MG & suggested that the crampy lower abdominal pain resembling PMS is all because of the corpus leuteal cyst and i might have to bare with it till my 1st trimester, she told me that with dates we don't expect anything more then the gestational sac at this moment.I have started with susten thrice daily, but i am too puzzled whom to believe and stressed out, as i am aware of the fact that that USG finding in early pregnancy are more accurate then the LMP.What should i do?please guide me properly,I can withstand the reality and be prepared for the worst, please guide me in proper way?is it blighted ovum? As far as i know that usg is always less than that LMP date, then why in my case it is coming more? I am to stressed, plz help me out asap..
its not December but 12th feb(LMP was 12th feb. 2013). No they didnt get any hcg levels checked.
thanx for those sweet words.but do u think its pretty okaay, my gestational sac measures 10mm acc to usg report?which makes its 5 weeks 5 days on the day when usg was done..though with lmp its just about 5 weeks now...here while surfing net i came across the fact that yolk sac develops when the gestational sac is over 8 mm.i m freaking out to the core.just keep on thinking about this all the day....

Answer
I really think your physician is worrying you too soon. We didn't see my baby until just about nine weeks! I had to turn down the D&C at seven and eight weeks. Yes, this may end in miscarriage but they really cannot know that for sure before nine weeks or so. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. Also, keep in mind once the gestational sac is visualized, many doctors stop taking hCG levels because they can rise, plateau or drop and still be normal. Unfortunately, time is the only true test of a blighted ovum. Stay monitored and, as with any pregnancy, please be seen right away if there are complications. I do hope you get better news soon!

Oh, an just read your additional details. At my eight week ultrasound, my gestatational sac measured 21.5mm and looked completely empty. One week later at 28.5mm, they found my little one. Hang in there. Saying a prayer for you!

Help: Dogs and Children?

Patient Pa

My fiancee and I are planning to conceive around 2013, by this time, Max will be six years old, Roxy will be seven, and Sparky will be 16. We will hopefully have another dog at the time (either a Greyhound or APBT of our own).

What I'm worried about, even though our dogs are great with children, we're unsure of how they would react to a child LIVING with us, especially one thats extremely tiny and screams quite a bit.

I trust my dogs completely, I just worry how they'll react, and if it will be a good reaction. My six month old niece comes over quite often, and Max is all-too eager to greet her, and I worry his over exuberance may get him into trouble later on..?

How old were your dogs when you had your children, how did they react, and what steps did you take to introduce them?

Answer
Your talking almost 5 years from now! How your dogs will react will be any-ones guess but if you train them correctly and make sure they are exposed to all kinds of people then you will diminish your worry but not totally. No dog no matter how old it is should ever be 100% trusted with a small child. No matter what.

when i had my first child I had 4 golden's here with me. Each reacted differently. The one who I though would be the most distant turned out to be the most mothering to my first son. They all were very good with the new house hold member. I made sure of it.
The baby could even make a squeek with one of them coming for me to go see why it was making that noise! LOL It was really quite annoying but cute after a while. I never needed a baby monitor at all I had 4 here with me!

You should be concerned but not get to the point of worring about it just yet! My advice is to handle the situation when it arrises and then deal with it. You just dont know what the future will bring.

I gained at least 10 pounds last month on chlomid and a ovidrel injection, but no pregnancy. Has this happened to anyone else. Does the weight naturally come off? This is so weird.

Answer
Hi!,
When the average person hears a woman is using "fertility drugs," the first thing that often comes to mind is multiple pregnancies like the McCaugheys of Iowa or the Chukwus of Texas. But if managed carefully, the risks of higher order multiples (more than three fetuses) while using fertility drugs are relatively low. Somewhere between 5 to 20 percent of the women who become pregnant while using fertility drugs carry more than one baby.

These drugs fall into two categories: clomiphene citrate (commonly called Clomid or Serophene), given in pill form; and the injectible medications that are injected either intramuscularly or subcutaneously, depending on the drug and the patient. These include Humegon, Pergonal, Repronex, Fertinex, Follistim and Gonal-F.

While Clomid works by "tricking" the brain into thinking there is insufficient estrogen and indirectly stimulating the ovaries, injectibles, which contain FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), directly stimulate the ovaries. Injectibles are much more expensive than Clomid; they are also much more powerful, but if used correctly, produce far fewer side effects.

Often a woman in the early stages of infertility treatment starts with Clomid. For some women who don't ovulate at all, or who have a weak ovulation, Clomid may be enough. While some doctors give women Clomid (generally with timed intercourse or insemination) without monitoring its effects through ultrasound viewing and blood tests, this is generally not recommended as it is difficult to assess the drug's effects without monitoring the body's reaction.

Some Review:
Although Clomid is generally the first fertility drug a woman takes, its side effects can be powerful. Gail Simons, of East Hampton, New York, took Clomid for two cycles and had side effects. "I had severe hot flashes and extreme depression," she says. "I refused to take the Clomid for a third cycle, because it made me feel so awful I was literally crying all the time. I have never felt that depressed and pessimistic in my whole life." Gail moved on to an injectible drug and had no side effects.

Like Gail Simons, Katie Mosher had severe side effects with Clomid, which she took for seven cycles. In addition to hot flashes, Katie suffered from "very bad mood swings and insomnia," she says. "I cried over French fries and never knew why. My husband was great, though, he just smiled and said it was OK because he understood. I, on the other hand, swear never to take Clomid again!"

A recent study suggests that up to 25 percent of the women who use Clomid may find their cervical mucus affected. It is recommended that part of the monitoring process with Clomid include a post-coital test to determine if Clomid is interfering with the production of fertile mucus.

But for every woman like Gail and Katie, there seems to be one like Brenda Price of Ontario, Canada, who describes her side effects on Clomid as "minor," or Kelli Chesterton* of Cupertino, Calif., who did six cycles of Clomid with "little or no side effects. I did ovulate on Clomid." Kelli did have some side effects with her seventh and last Clomid cycle.

Clomid is generally taken in dosages from 50 to 300 milligrams for five days per month, generally beginning on day 3 to 5 of your menstrual cycle. The cost ranges from $30 to $75 per month. Clomid is used in cycles with timed intercourse, sometimes in concert with IUI, seldom with IVF. About 35 to 45 percent of women will become pregnant while using Clomid. About 5 percent of these pregnancies will be twins, with triplet pregnancies being rare.

Nutro Brand Deserts-Why have they been discontinued?

ToxLabRat

Does anyone have any information as to why Nutro has discontinued their line of desserts for dogs? I have a Pug who just loves them, especially the pumpkin and carrot cake varieties, and when I went to the store today, I was told they were discontinued. I called Nutro and was told by a customer service rep that they were discontinued, but she would not disclose the reason. If anyone has any info, I would be interested to know. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Unfortunately, it was poor sales results. In many cases, the product went out of date before it was sold.

You could try fresh fruits. Apple slices, baby carrots, etc are all great treats.

Edit: To clarify, Nutro has had a small recall on their cat food because of overadding of an ingredient. Check your facts before you cry recall....
In addition, the recall of 2007, which was TWO YEARS ago, involved many different producers of pet foods. Nutro was not the only company affected by Menu Foods. Please get your facts straight.

Funny how the FDA website has one recall listed for cat food:

May 21, 2009 - Nutro Products Announces Voluntary Recall of Limited Range of Dry Cat Food Products
Right off the FDA website.

And the mob action begins.....

Here are the facts:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Franklin, Tennessee (May 21, 2009) -- Today, Nutro Products announced a voluntary recall of select varieties of NUTRO® NATURAL CHOICE® COMPLETE CARE® Dry Cat Foods and NUTRO® MAX® Cat Dry Foods with âBest If Used By Datesâ between May 12, 2010 and August 22, 2010. The cat food is being voluntarily recalled in the United States and ten additional countries. This recall is due to incorrect levels of zinc and potassium in our finished product resulting from a production error by a US-based premix supplier.

Two mineral premixes were affected. One premix contained excessive levels of zinc and under-supplemented potassium. The second premix under-supplemented potassium. Both zinc and potassium are essential nutrients for cats and are added as nutritional supplements to NUTRO® dry cat food.

This issue was identified during an audit of our documentation from the supplier. An extensive review confirmed that only these two premixes were affected. This recall does not affect any NUTRO® dog food products, wet dog or cat food, or dog and cat treats.

Affected product was distributed to retail customers in all 50 states, as well as to customers in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Israel. We are working with all of our distributors and retail customers, in both the US and internationally, to ensure that the recalled products are not on store shelves. These products should not be sold or distributed further.

Consumers who have purchased affected product should immediately discontinue feeding the product to their cats, and switch to another product with a balanced nutritional profile. While we have received no consumer complaints related to this issue, cat owners should monitor their cat for symptoms, including a reduction in appetite or refusal of food, weight loss, vomiting or diarrhea. If your cat is experiencing health issues or is pregnant, please contact your veterinarian.

Consumers who have purchased product affected by this voluntary recall should return it to their retailer for a full refund or exchange for another NUTRO® dry cat food product. Cat owners who have questions about the recall should call 1-800-833-5330 between the hours 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST, or visit www.nutroproducts.com.

Recalled Pet Food

The varieties of NUTRO® NATURAL CHOICE® COMPLETE CARE® Dry Cat Foods and NUTRO® MAX® Cat Dry Foods listed below with âBest If Used By Datesâ between May 12, 2010 and August 22, 2010 are affected by this voluntary recall.

Nutro Products Recall List â Dry Cat Foods

Edit: Obviously, but no reason to post "facts" that are not. You could really upset people who are feeding a Nutro product, and whether you like it or not has nothing to do with recalls.
BTW, I do not feed my dogs Nutro.

How to make a Video baby monitor?

i dont kno

Can someone please tell me how to make a video baby monitor? The only problem is i dont have any fancy gadgets, like an iphone or ipad or ianything! lol.
i have an extra laptop and i have an old webcam. could this work to make a video baby monitor??
i want to be able to connect to it somehow from my laptop that iam currently using, like skyp or something??
Iam very bad with computers lol
I understand what your saying and thats why i dont want to spend any money on this. But if i can figure out a way to do it with stuff i have laying around i would like to see him, and not have to sneak into his room to see him. ( because yes i will be going in to look at him, i have from day one and i dont think that will stop for quiet awhile)

Answer
I can't help you with any of the technical stuff, but I wanted to say that video baby monitors are quite useless. Its one of those baby items that is totally unnecessary.

What's important is that you *hear* your baby wake up and cry for you. Its not important to *see* your baby - after all, you will be very, VERY tired yourself. Its not like you'll be up all night watching your baby sleep.

Wireless Internet Problem?

psh_i_rock

Im running Wireless internet on my new computer, just got it less then a week ago. I'm using Netgear WG111v2 USB wireless card and Adelphia Cables wireless modem wich doesnt require a wireless router. The connection is password secured, I'm running CA Security Suite Plus as my Antivirus/firewall/antispy and lately my internets been messing up massively. It normally runs at 54mbps and it slowly drops to 1 mbps and moves up to 11 then back down to 1. Ive replaced the modem and the wireless card and the card is the one the cable company recomends. Is it possible I got a virus that somehow got by and is eating my connection? if not what could be the problem?

Answer
That sounds to me like simple Interference with the signal. This happens alot on 2.4 gig. Cordelss phones, baby room monitors, wireless cameras, nearly anything else that runs on 2.4 can interfere which will reduce speed, let speed come back, reduce etc.

Try changing the channel that you are using, I suspect you will find one that will work better and deliver higher speed more consistantly for you.
It is normal for some variance to occur as you move around, particularly in different rooms etc. The further you are from the modem/router the less signal is received. You can change the channel from the modem setup screens.

Whats wrong with my wireless internet?

julie

My wireless internet disconnects every 5 - 20 minutes. Then after about 30 seconds it will reconnect?
I've had different guys come out here four times already. I've tried changing the channels to 11 and everything. We've had the router replaced already, but that wasn't the problem either. Can anybody help this situation? Its a comtrend ASDL router.

Answer
Other wireless devices such as cordless phones, baby monitors, wireless cameras/surveilence equipment can interfere with your wifi signal, if you have any of these devices turn them off and see if your wifi connectivity improves. If it does, you could try using different wifi channels to find one that doesn't conflict with the broadcast channel the offending device/s is using. Also other wifi networks in close proximity to yours (ie: neighbours' wifi networks- especially if you live in an apartment complex) can interfere with your wifi, again you can try different channels, there is no particular advantage or benefit in setting to channel 11 specifically. If you are useing the same phone line for telephones and ADSL make sure you have line filters connected to each phone and your modem in your house. Check that the phone cable from the wall to your modem is good and that this cable is no longer than it needs to be, the shorter the better.

Jealous Baby?!!!?

FishyFace

My niece is 1 and she declares all the attention. But now another niece is on her way and i dont want her to feel jealous when the other is born. I know its going to affect her and her world is gonna change now that she is going to have to share the attention. What can i do so she does not feel so jealous when her new sister arrives? I mean we are not going to carry her as much anymore and i dont want her to feel left out. what do i do?

Answer
You're a cool aunt! :-)

You don't mention how often your neice is around other children. That can make a difference, since even though she has the attention at home, does she have to share it at daycare or something? Also, are there any other kids in the family, or is she the only one?

If she's the only baby around, then it's possible she has the attention not because she demands it, but by default, since there's no one there to share it. It could be she'll not have a lot of trouble sharing some of the limelight.

For 1-year-olds, they can be on all kinds of levels. My son was 20 months old when my other little boy was born, and here are a few of the things we did:

1. Keep them involved. Let her know baby sister is in Momma's tummy. Show her the sonogram pictures. If the doctor allows it, take her to a doctor visit to let her hear the baby's heartbeat, or let her in the room before labor turns ugly and let her listen then and/or watch the monitors. Let her know that it's a little girl like her and what the baby's name will be. You can even let her pick out a present for the baby. My son picked out a stuffed cookie monster for the baby, and every night he put the plush in the crib with Colin.) If you do all this, it'll be a little less of a shock when there's this little red bundle of crying taking up all of Momma's time.

2. Sell her on the cool parts of being a big sister. A big one that worked well for us was that big brothers get to eat real food (and cookies and drink chocolate milk or juice in bob the builder sippy cups) while babies only get white milk in baby bottles (we even let him have a taste of the baby's milk, and he decided on his own that apple juice and cookies are a better snack). Big brothers also got to go to bed a little later at night and wear Spiderman pajamas and look at books.

3. One year old is young, but there are things she can do to help, and that can really help her feel needed in the family. She's lost her spot as the one to be adored, so helping her carve out a place in the group will help her. At a year old, she can sit on the couch and, with close supervision, "hold" the baby. She can give the baby a bottle, give a pacifier, sing a lullaby, make faces. Cameron loved burping the baby, too, but that needs to be done very very carefully so they don't hit the baby's back too hard. I think he liked the instant reward of actually getting a burp out of the baby. :-) She can help pick out clothes for the baby to wear, or which blanket she can be wrapped in. At that age, they like to have some control even over little things. Letting her make those simple decisions can help her feel she hasn't lost control all over the place. One-year-olds are great for entertaining the baby during spongebaths or diaper changes (change diapers on the floor using a mat, and she can sit across from you and entertain the baby by singing, talking, making faces, showing off a stuffed animal, etc.) Of course, it goes without saying that EXTREME supervision should be practiced. A big advantage is that kids from about 1-1/2 years old to about 3-years-old or older are fascinated by babies, and they love to love on them. Encourage it!

4. Don't cast her aside. There are, of course, times when she will have to not be in the middle of things. When her parents are at the hospital having the baby, let her know what's going on, but have something really fun planned for her. My older child went to stay with Grandma and Grandpa, who always have bananas. They had pizza for dinner. :-) Depending on the hospital and their policies, if she's allowed to come up there, and if there is a tv and vcr, get her a new video to bring up to the hospital after the baby is born. We put a brand new Blues Clues video in, and that way, Cameron was able to be with us and near the baby without having to focus on too much for him to handle.

5. I know this sounds wierd, but of the two children, early on, the one most in need of being held, given attention, etc. is the older child. I'm not saying ignore the newborn, but if she's sleeping, she can be put down to bed and her older sister can have that time with Momma and Daddy. Basically, early on, all the newborn will do is sleep, eat and poo (sometimes all at once). She won't need that much expressive attention, and she can't handle that much without going into sensory overload. But if you consider how big a change this is, the older child, at just one year old, will not be prepared to lose her cuddle time, and she shouldn't have to. She didn't choose to have the baby. Even if she has to share time and attention, which she does, there are ways to help with it. For example, when the baby is being nursed or bottle-fed, big sister can sit up with Momma and baby and listen to a story, or watch Sesame Street, or sing songs, or just talk. Multi-tasking is one of the main things moms have to learn to do. :-) Doing that could also provide some wonderful time to not only bond with the new baby, but to allow the sisters to bond, and to bond as an entire family.

6. Don't blame the baby for things the one-year-old has lost. If she wants ot have a story, or whatever, and the mother doesn't have the energy, saying "Momma's sleepy" is easier to accept without placing blame than "The baby kept Momma up all night."

These things, as well as special little suprises (something my kids love is that I pick up "birthday" paper plates with their favorite characters, so they think it's cool when they get to have a Batman or Mickey Mouse plate or whatever) and just lots of love and acceptance, I think your neice will be fine. My kids are best buds now, and they argue, but I'm glad we had them so close together.

Hope some of this helped. I think it's really awesome that you, as the aunt, got on and are wanting to think of ways to help your neice get through this. Congratulations to you and your family!

My baby has been having problem with her stool, what could be the problem?

Lincy Gach

Answer
It really depends on the problem. If it is constipation, it depends if the child last had a stool, age of the child, if there are other problems like throwing up or being sick. The younger the baby, the more quickly it can get into trouble if they are dehydrated from vomiting and this will slow down the bowels...but you really must stay on top of hydrating and monitoring. Talk with your doctor so they can gauge if you may need to try pedialyte, sugar water, or if older, adding things such as diluted or full strength apple juice...but if your child becomes lethargic, or appears to be having stomach pains (drawing up its legs, stomach appears distended and hard) go to your ER and contact a doctor. Apple juice, especially full strength (not diluted with water) can be hard on a child's stomach and can cause vomiting as well as diarrhea....and will not give enough nutrition for a baby who is dependent on formula or breast milk.

If your child is having diarrhea, as I said before, they can become dehydrated easily, and the younger the baby is, the quicker it may get into trouble. Sometimes frequent small feedings, every hour to two hours, and if they keep it down may help...diluting the formula so it is half strength (for a day), or adding pedialyte, sugar water, older kids, ginger ale, popscicles, broth, gatorade, weak sweet tea, may be the way to go when they are having diarrhea and worked back onto solid foods. You should work in conjunction with your baby's doctor...and call to see who is on call if you have a pediatrician or doctor can give you some direction. Some other signs of dehydration, dry cracked lips, can't cry tears, sunken eyes, skin tents (when stomach skin is lightly pinched, it tents up and slow to return to normal), lethargic, soft spot on head seems depressed when baby is quiet.

Bloody stools should not be ignored, contact a doctor or go to an ER immediately, this can be indicative of a medical emergency.

But I cannot stress enough, the younger your baby/child is the quicker they can get into trouble when they are ill...a toddler can sometimes indicate when they are in pain, and give some information when they are ill...a baby is dependent on YOU to make the right decisions....I've seen children die with 12-24 hours after a parent started to notice problems. Good luck and God Bless you child and you!

reviews for baby monitors?

browneyedg

We are looking for a really good quality baby monitor and we want one that has nightvision (or infrared or whatever it's called) I've sen some that monitor the baby in the dark but most of them have LEDs on the camera. I don't want to shine a flood light on my baby at night. We just want something that works in the dark without a light. Can anybody recommend a good monitor?
Thanks! :o)

Answer
I work retail and for the past 3 years I've been recommending this product

http://www.qvc.com/asp/frameset.asp?gopartner=X4190000&focus=http://secure.qvc.com/PartnerBridge.ASP?PartnerID=X4190000&ItemNumber=3538336&PartnerURL=http://www.readysetsports.com/entry.point?target=35fda0

* 2.36" color LCD monitor (Large and portable monitor display)
* Features built-in night light and lullabies to soothe baby
* Digital wireless technology means no interference (90% ofbaby monitors uses MHZ wavelenght in order to receive their signal or sound but they will fail because cordless phone, microwave ovens, car remote receivers and or garage door remotes just to name a few uses MHZ an eventually you monitor will stop working because it start getting the signal from the other appliances )
*Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) for privacy (because its digital it can't be picked up by
other digital accesories around your house or neighbors)
* Auto exposure on camera (no blurry shots)
* Maximum Distance: 500' line of sight (you can be 500ft away from baby)
* Automatic night vision activation on camera (nothing to explain here)
* Includes rechargeable battery (awesome feature)

Has anyone used a video baby monitor?

Pregnant w

How do they work?
What are the pros and cons?
I am thinking about buying one that you can have two monitors and see two rooms at once and was wondering how many people prefer it.

Answer
Congrats on baby #2!

I couldn't live with out my video monitor!! I have the Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor. The picture is so clear both at night and during the day. I love being able to check on my baby with out waking her. I don't even have to get out of bed unless she really needs me! I think if I only had the audio, I would have been getting up a lot more often to investigate every sound, especially during the first few months. The handheld part has a button on top so you can turn off the video screen if the light bothers you at night. Then if you hear something you feel you need to check on, simply click the button and the video comes back on. I read the reviews for this product. Many people say they could not get a signal. I never had a problem. I also read that they can interfere with wi-fi. My husband is a web developer... he never would have allowed wi-fi interference!

I highly recommend this monitor to all my friends. The only con I can think of is that I have had to change the channel due to static. Seriously, it's a flick of a button and I've had to do it maybe 3 times in 7 months. No biggie! I know you can get an extra camera for this monitor, but I don't need one yet. Here is what one person commented: "We bought a second camera to go with the monitor we already had. I love being able to switch back and forth between my two kids' rooms. Only issue is if the monitor is too close to one camera, you can have interference when trying to check on the other one."

baby monitoring during labour....electrodes?

saz

my twins are almost ready to be born and my doc says that during the labour they will attach a clip to babies heads to monitor their vitals. has anyone else had this, was it uncomfortable, unsuccessful, mark babys head? how does it work exactly?

Answer
Little bit of an overview of 'Internal Fetal Monitoring'
If you want more information, maybe in more detail, google
'Internal Fetal Monitoring'

Internal fetal monitoring is used for high risk births or during a normal birth where the birth team is having trouble keeping the baby on the monitor or the baby's reaction doesn't look great on the less accurate form of external fetal monitoring (EFM).
With internal fetal monitoring the mother's bag of waters must be broken. If it has not broken on it's own then an amniotomy will be performed to break the water. A fetal scalp electrode is placed by screwing a tiny sire into the top layers of the baby's scalp, then relaying the baby's heart rate to the fetal monitor. This is more accurate because it does not use ultrasound.

At the same time an intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) can also be placed inside the uterus. It goes between the uterine wall and the baby. This also allows the midwife or doctor to know the exact force from the contractions, rather than a simple graphical representation given by external monitoring. This is very useful in the case of induction.

Internal monitoring can also prevent an unnecessary cesarean for fetal distress if it shows the baby is healthy, compared to the less accurate external monitoring. Though there are risks associated with the internal monitor:

Risk of infection for mom and baby
Restricts movement of the mother
Reduction in movement can cause more pain

buying a baby monitor?

Peqo

hi we are having twins soon and are thinking of buying this monitor:
http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Handheld-Monitor-Screen/dp/B001NAATW0/ref=br_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3TTMBRDDATJ1H&colid=3VLFRXN5N0TET

we want to buy 2 so that we can see each baby individually on two separate monitors --- the babies will be in the same room. do you think having two baby monitors in a room will cause an interference in the image or will one affect the functioning of the other?

thanks
on amazon it seems to be cheaper to just buy two of this rather than buy one and an extra monitor. for the reason the extra monitor is really expensive (much more than the base and monitor)

Answer
I wouldn't think they would cause interference with each other, it runs on a digital signal, not analog. So you should be fine with getting two. That monitor is excellent. I bought the same one for my son. He's 2 weeks old now and i don't have to worry about how he is sleeping or disturbing him if he is, the monitor has a great image and good sound quality.

Advice on baby monitors?

Right now we are using a hand-me-down monitor that we got at our shower. Its a safety 1st and we are completely OVER IT. My son is now 4 months old and I cant take the static or being a human antenna any longer. Its got a constant static and buzzing noise that drives my husband up the wall. I will have the volume down really low and then all of a sudden it will get really loud (it has woken my son up before and he is two rooms away)

So, which ones are good? We were hoping to find a decent one with out dishing out a ton of money, is that possible? Which ones have worked best for you? We greatly appreciate the help :)

Answer
We use the Graco iMonitor Vibe and it works just great for us! It's inexpensive, easy to use and never gives off the slightest bit of static. I never even remember that it's on until she cries in the morning.

I guess my only complaint is that it doesn't hold a charge for very long (probably 20-30 minutes max). The receiver pretty much has to stay on the base, plugged into the wall at all times. This isn't a problem for us, because we only use it at night while we're sleeping, but it might be an issue for somebody in a large house to wanted to use it during the day.

EDIT: Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but a baby monitor was not a waste for us. I am a heavy sleeper (which only gets worse when I'm over-tired) and my daughter's nursery is clear across our house. She could lie screaming for an hour without waking me.

ideas for the iphone, opinions?

damos92

hi what do you think of these 2 ideas for apps on the iphone. one is a thing where it monitors a baby crying and then you input what that cry was about. for instance, your baby is crying one day and you figure out he wants food. you record the cry and say that is a food cry. then in the future you just show your iphone near a baby crying and it will tell you what they are crying for by measuring his or hers pitch and tone. another one is a shock thing, like in the arcade. you hold the iphone and get shock waves through your hand for however long, and send your high scores online and the person who gets the longest time holding it gets a prize or something. what do you think? also do you have any cool app ideas?

Answer
Awesome, in-fact I can also record sounds on my Nokia, or Motorola, or Samsung, or Sony Ericsson and also make them vibrate.
Wow I think I got a cool phone! Not?

A NEW BETTER CAMERA APPLICATION FOR THAT TRASH PHONE CAN BE A BETTER START!

Yet another question abt. homemade baby food?

Malia

I was wondering....if I made peas for my daughter (she likes the jar kind) and I didn't use fresh peas but frozen, instead of cooking them, can I just take a good amount out and put into a clean bowl with a lid over night and let them defrost and puree them in my Magic Bullet? Or do I HAVE to cook them? I would think not if they were completely defrosted. And I could always nuke it in the microwave too. What about frozen greenbeans? Or should I stay away from those because of the nitrates? My baby girl is 5 months old yesterday. I just want to do what's right

Answer
It's best to steam veggies for baby food. Always cook them. Veggies are frozen uncooked which is why you can refreeze them once you have made baby food out of them. "Nuking" anything in the microwave destroys any nutritional value so I wouldn't suggest doing that when making baby food. A quick steam retains the most value. Even boiling water will lessen the nutritional content but not to the extent of microwaving. Are you away that you should be introducing a new food each week? This is important because you need to be monitoring her reaction to new foods, in case of anything adverse. Start with yellow veggies (squash, yukon gold potatoes) then to green, then orange. Since she's five months now, I would keep her on the yellow veggies until next month and then move forward with the green and orange.

Hanns·G HH-241HPB Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 15000:1(1000:1) Built in Speakers - Retail
Pros: Large enough for my needs, no stuck or dead pixels, arrived promptly. Has good color contrast and displays very little if any banding

Cons: Backlight bleed on each corner with a rather large bar of light along the bottom edge. Very distracting on dark scenes, with any LCD you can expect a bit of bleed (except those fancy LED backlights) but this is a bit of above average in my books.

Other Thoughts: Can't complain too much, for a monitor under $170.00 at the time of purchase, there wasn't much to expect.

SAMSUNG 2333HD High Glossy Black 23" 5ms HDMI Widescreen Full HD LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10,000:1 (1,000:1) Built in Speakers - Retail
Pros: Crystal clear Hd satellite picture. Beautiful Monitor picture.
HDMI cable included. A great value!

Cons: Stand was awkward to put in. Power plug did not have a secure connection . I called Samsung and they sent me a new plug without a hassle. No problems what so ever since then.

Other Thoughts:
1.This Monitor/TV is 1080P. It has its own tuner...meaning it is an HD TV OR a Monitor. This product is a "steal" at this price.
2.I have a set of Altec Lansing speakers with subwoofer hooked up and the sound is wonderful. This is not a $1000.00 TV.
3.If you expect the same don't buy it. But if you are looking for a Superb picture either as a TV or a monitor and 23" 's is large enough for your needs...BUY IT! I really wanted to give it a 5 but felt it wouldn't be fair since I had to request a new power plug from Samsung.

What is the best baby monitor?

m1h2n3

I currently have the handheld summer infant monitor. My baby's room is on the other side of the house and if I just walked out of her room it says no signal . What is the best baby monitor or video monitor ? Thanks!

Answer
1)Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor
2)Angel care Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor
3)Sony BabyCall Nursery Monitor NTM-910YLW
these are 3 of the best on the market Right now

Did/do you use a movement sensor/monitor with your baby?

jen

I know they don't claim to prevent SIDS, but just to make sure baby's breathing, etc...
tw9165, That's the one I bought!

Answer
I use that angelcare monitor too with the pad that goes under the mattress. My main reason for getting one was a little girl I looked after died when she was nearly 2 in her cot from SUDS (sudden unexplained death syndrome). It shook me up pretty bad and I agree with the person who wrote that its a comfort to wake in the night and see the little light flashing - saves me from turning the light on and disturbing my son, just to check on him. I too have forgotten to turn it off when I feed him and it lets out an almighty noise! That just proves to me that it works.

How much will my baby cost?

ashley rol

I am having a baby in 8 months and I am 15 years old. My parents want me to put it up for adoption which is NOT happening I would NEVER give my kid away for anything. So I have a list of everything I need but I want to know how much it will cost. I am not putting it in daycare I am going to watch it I do online schooling anyways. And I can get a pretty good car seat and stroller and crib for cheap at thrift stores by my house they are gently used that I seen. So that rest of what I would need is blankets, burp cloths, pacifiers, diaper bag, diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, gentle baby bath, baby tub, soft toys, audio monitor, hooded towels, baby oil, baby nail clippers, bouncer, and I can get a very good amount of baby clothes from thrift stores to that are also gently used.
Also tell me if there is anything else I am missing.

Answer
Well you are kind of young to be having a baby but it sounds like you know that you are going to have to be prepared and have listed pretty much everything you need and then some, lol. Also you may want to know that once you are pregnant you become a emancipated minor, which means you basically are considered an adult and your parents can't make you do anything you don't want to do, like giving up your baby so that gives you one less thing to worry about. Now for the baby items, babies aren't cheap but I have had several so I have learned just what is needed and where you can substitute things. Right now is a great time to look at yard sales for baby items, a yard sale may be the better place to look for a car seat b/c you can ask the original owner if it has ever been in a car that had a accident, you don't want one that has. I don't know where you live but in our area the local WIC gives away car seats for free! Brand new ones. Also the sheriffs department gives new ones away too. You just need to give either one a call and they will help you get one. If you haven't went to apply for WIC, you need to do so asap. WIC is for people like yourself, it's very helpful and saves you a ton of money. While you are pregnant they will give you checks for certain healthy foods, like cereal, cheese, milk, eggs, peanut butter, ect. When the baby comes they really save you a ton of money b/c they will give you checks to pay for the baby formula if you are not solely breast feeding and if you are they will continue to give you food and help teach you to breast feed easier and give you a new breast pump. They will also help you to get things you may need, like clothing, crib, and things like that. I would start getting a bag of size one diapers every month so you have a supply when the baby is born. I say size one b/c you get a lot more in the bag than the newborns and they pretty much will fit the baby within a week or two, you can fold the top part down if her/his belly button cord hasn't fallen off yet. I would also get a few bags of newborn for the first week or two.
Do you have any friends or family that recently had a baby? If so I would offer to buy the stuff that doesn't fit their baby anymore and the items they don't use anymore. If they are nice they may just let you have it for free, I know I was always willing to give people things for free if they needed them. I wish that people could personally contact others through here, like email b/c if you are not to far I could pass on a few things, like a car seat and pack and play that is also a bassinet as well as a front pack carrier and a bouncer seat. Even if it had to be shipped I would be willing to do that if you are able to send the shipping cost after you get the stuff, I say after so you know I am not trying to rip you off, lol. Well anyways if you are able to figure out a way to msg me or somehow get me your email or alternate one I will let you know what I have, if you are in the U.S. Don't worry I am not some weirdo, lol, only a mother who knows just how hard it can be when starting out.
As far as overall cost to have a baby? It will be at least a few hundred to get the things that you will need and depending on how much help you get it will continue to cost a lot to raise the baby. Also you need to show your parents that you are trying to be mature, you didn't mention insurance so that is also something you need to make sure you get b/c it costs over $4,000.00 in most areas to deliver a baby. You will be able to get full coverage through programs that are set up for pregnant women who need insurance. WIC can also help you arrange for that too, so basically you first call should be to the WIC office so they can steer you in the right direction, they won't be able to get you on WIC until you get a note from a doctor saying that you are pregnant so if you haven't been to the doctors yet you will need to do that, if you do need the insurance it will usually pay your back bills up to three months so don't worry about the cost of the appointment.

Opinions on baby monitors, what kinds are there?

-Kaylie-

I'm 28 weeks pregnant, and trying to plan out what I need for my baby girl. For the most part, I've got things picked out it bought. One thing I've been hesitant about, is a baby monitor. I plan to buy one, of course, but I don't know what one is best. I know there's the video ones, and the plain Jane ones, but what are the pros and cons of each one? Are there other types, and which is best? I worry a lot, but I don't know if I necessarily need a video one. What are my choices, and what's your opinion on yours? Thank you so much!

Answer
I don't recommend the video ones because I've never run into a situation where I felt like I needed to see what the baby was doing, just hearing them was good enough. Also, unless they are hardwired, they are open broadcast, which means anyone in the vicinity with a receiver can pick up the images. To me, that always creeped me out. We have a family right next to us that has little kids, and I've overheard some of their baby monitors. Last thing I need is to possibly have them see our videos...

Then you need to figure out your electronic broadcasting needs. If you use a lot of wireless devices then you want one that will use a frequency that is less common.

Here's some reviews. We have a simple monitor and honestly it's worked fine for my family for over 5 years now.
