When will tmobile come out with the iPhone?

Q. I have seen articles and reports that T-Mobile will carry apple products in the new year (2013). When can I expect to see the iphone 5 on T-Mobiles network?

thanks

A. I let my friend (coworker) who owns an iPhone 5 use my Note 2 just to compare, and showed him how to use it.

I then asked him why people prefer iPhone 5 over the customization that Android gives. He had no answer to that (he did attempt to say that the iPhone was simpler to use, and I described that the it was true that even babies could use the iPhone, but the Android only takes a day to customize to ones wants and needs), just that he never knew Android had gotten so good. He then offered to trade me his iPhone 5 and a gaming screen he had previously used for his triple monitor setup. I stoutly declined.

This sounds like I'm just trying to spite you because even if the events that I have just tried to describe are false (and they are not), they are impolite.

So I won't educate you on the benefits of the Note 2, and Android as an OS, and why I'm not here to start a war, but merely to inform you that iPhone is definitely starting to fall off as a feature full phone every generation. Every generation, the iPhone is declining. I won't speak of it anymore, and just try answering your question without killing myself over how much a tech geek like me needs to tell you how much better Android is. All you have to do is research and use google anyway if you wanted to know, right?

So about iPhone on T-mobile. You probably won't be seeing the iPhone 5 likely appear in next month. After that, they will be very eager to get the iPhone 5 if they truly are considering offering the iPhone 5 (they already offer the Galaxy Note 2, though... OOPS what am I saying?!?!). So around 3-4 months? Yep very likely.

But don't buy a phone on a contract. You will end up paying more. Do you wonder why contracts lock you in and lower the price on phones? It's not really because they want you to stay (well yes they do), but that they gain a better profit anyway. They lock you into a plan that is very bad compared to prepaid plans so every month you will be shelling out tons more money for tons less service. Let's say you pay $90 every month for the same service you get at $49... There you go. 2 year contract = 12+12 = 24 x 40 = 960. You will be shelling out an extra $960 along with the small fee you payed with the phone when you signed your contract ($200 maybe?).

See, I'm just trying to educate you on what choice you should take: prepaid.

Prepaid? Look at Straight Talk, Solavei, T-mobile Prepaid (hidden because they like you using contracts), there are many great options. Check them out.

wifi not working till technician is baffled?
Q. it's ok if i connect it with cabel, but the wifi has a problem.. i called the operator but she said everything is alright.. so i changed the modem, but it still won't work.. so i hired a technician to handle the settings.. it went well at first, but the problem came back.. even my technician is confused.. even the troubleshooter won't work.. what's going on? are there external wave frequencies disturbing my wifi?

A. There are several things that can affect wifi signal and things you can do to try and improve things

To start with the basic rule is to position the router as high and as centrally as possible in your house.

1] Try changing the broadcast channel from the wireless setup interface for your router/modem.You can normally access this by typing "http://192.168.0.1/" into your browsers search bar and then look for the wireless settings menu.
You don't say if your router can use the 5GHz frequency or just the 2.4GHz. The best channels in the 2.5GHz spectrum are 1,6, 11, or 13 as they have less overlap with the other channels.

There is a useful article here about how to get the best performance by selecting the best channel.: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/21132/cha

If you have an android smarthphone, or a friend does, then install the Wifi Analyzer app free from android market and use it to scan for the best channel and change your routers broadcast channel accordingly. This app will aslo show you all the wifi signals in range that your neighbours are using, so you can select a different channel to them, making a stronger signal for you. https://market.android.com/details?id=co

2] You can use a tool like Nirsofts totally free WirelessNet View to look at all the local wireless signals that are within range and may be competing with your own router and interfering with reception. from here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_ne

3] You can buy a Wi-Fi booster like D-Link 645 Smartbeam, here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DIR-645-W
Devices such as these can actually boost the wifi signal by using multiple beams that bounce of the walls and are intelligently directed toward whatever device [smarhphone, laptop, tablet] you are using on wifi.

4] If your using the 2.4GHz frequency and not the 5GHz then other devices that use this frequency band can alsso interfere with your reception [eg baby monitors and microwave ovens use 2.4GHz]. Try and make sure that none of these devices are situated between your router and your wifi receiver eg laptop, tablet, smarthphone etc

Poll: Do you think that two-month-olds should have iPhones?
Q. Or would it be better for them to have an Android?

A. I say a baby monitor will be much better

Why is it slow to use net . Is there any problem who can tell me?
Q. kgmjpw

A. You don't really give very much information to help us help you, do you? Nothing about your hardware or your network configuration/method of accessing the internet. Nothing about the speed your ISP says you should get or what speed you are getting.

If you are using a wifi router there are several things you can do to try and maximise speed:

acer 5920g display problem?

Q. I have an Acer Aspire 5920G Notebook ( Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0Ghz, 15.4" Display nvidia 8600GT 256MB). Recently I noticed that my display brightness occasionally tremble (fluctuates). How do I fix it?

A. You may have a problem with the wiring to the bulb that provides the back light for the LCD display. Does this happen when you move the display lid? If you have a video out port, connect it to a stand alone monitor or television video in port (if possible). Do this with the power off for all items and then power up the display and then the laptop. you may have to go into your display settings on your computer to enable the port and have it mirror your display. If this works then your video card should be good.

This means that my original idea is correct. If you have the same issues with the alternate video display, you have a problem in the video card.

Either way, the repair is most likely outside your skill level. If your baby is under warranty, send it in. If not, you will have to shell out some cash for the trouble shooting and repair.

I am so sorry you are having this problem.

Building a Computer...Can you help me!?!?
Q. Ok so i am currently running a Pentium 4 dell factory 8300 desktop computer.
http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/desktops/0,1000000968,10004197,00.htm I updated the graphics card last year to a very nice ATI card, and i also added another 512 stick of Ram. Everything is fine on it, but i just want more speed/power/reliability. So i am wanting to build myself a new computer and purchase the parts off of new egg. My question is what all do I need to buy, and what can i steal from my old comp?

I figure the new Core Duo processor is a must. (2.0 GHZ)
I also am going to get a new tower. (This will come with a power supply).
I will steal my old graphics/video card as well as mouse, keyboard, speakers, and monitors.
Do I need to buy a CD-Rom, CD-RW, CD-DVD or can i steal these too?
Motherboard? If so how much memory usage do i need for serious gaming?
Sound card, can i steal this from the Dell?
Ram, I currently have a gig of ram in the other comp, can i steal these too?

A. ok well first. the core duo is nice but it will not work on your current mobo. the core duo is a lga type (which has not pins)
so you will need a new mobo. next yes you can use your optical drives(dvd cd)
you will probably need to use different memeory as well. most mobos use ddr2 which is much faster. i would go with at least 2gigs of this.
next get a seriousl graphics card with at least 256 and either agp2 or a pci express. i recomend either stealth with a radeon chipset or a realy nice nividia card.

also not to knock new egg but you might want to try global first they tend to have a little better slection on cases and on prices they are alot lower than most places.

one last thing when you get your new mobo, tower and stuff make sure you get at least 2 case fans. one push back and one pull in front to keep this monster cool. eithr that or do what i did and put yourself togethr a system with these parts.

intell core duo extreme
3 gig of ddr2
2tb hardrive(sata)
stealth graphics card with radeon 9800 running 512mb pci express
volcano temp and tach case fans
water cooler
850 watt power supply
asus motherboard (ifogot the number)
a 37" lcd screen
wireless mouse and kb
linksys 2.4 ghz wireless dsl setup

this baby kicks a>>
good luck dude
let me know how it goes ok. and hey dont burn down the house doin it like i almost did with my first build 10 years ago.lol

My Tegu refuses to eat.?
Q. She is losing weight and getting weak. Is tube feeding safe? What type of mixture etc would I give her for food?
Any ideas would help greatly. If u have a better solution I'd like to hear it as well.
Thanks,

Disturbed_duo

A. Do not try and force-feed your tegu unless you have previous experience doing so and have been advised by a vet to start. If your tegu is not eating and is getting to the point she is visibly losing weight/getting weak you may have waited too long (a healthy tegu can miss several meals before this occurs). Take her into your herp vet for an assessment and advice.

Address any husbandry that could be the underlying cause of her hunger strike. Temps and humidity first and adjust as needed. I keep my personal tegus and my foster tegus the same as I keep my monitors (temp wise) ~ A basking surface temp of at least 130/135 and the rest of the enclosure ranges from cool to warm end in the 75-89 degree range (though obviously much warmer as you get near the basking areas). A properly kept tegu is a lot like a properly kept monitor ~ provide the right temps, substrate and a hide the little buggers have amazing appetites.

Pick up a couple jars of baby food in an attempt to stimulate your tegu's appetite, put just a little smear on the side of her mouth so she can lick it off. Sometimes I use that trick with some of my fosters to induce a feeding response. Try chicken or lamb and peas/carrots or squash. Have food available to her at all times (her salad) and offer prey items a couple times a day (it sounds bad, but if she is getting weak and slow and can't catch her bugs remove a few legs from the crickets/roaches, don't offer live rodents unless it's pinky rats).

~I would stay away from dog food and definitely from ensure (a milky, sugary people food... not something reptiles are designed to digest, the sugar overload can also caue dehydrative diarhea) and pedialyte (lotsa sugar, not formulated for lizards). There are plenty of reptile appetite stimulants if you choose to go that route.

10 points to the best answer-I need to set up a webcam.Give me the best website for complete instructions.?
Q. Heres the kicker.I have a site for the camera thats secure, has electricity, but no phone or cable lines. My budget is maybe $5,000.00.thats plenty for soft-hardware,but not enough to run
cable or phone to this site.Is there a way around this?Thanx everyone!

A. How to install a wireless webcam
webcams are normally used for communication, and are so called because you access and manage them through your browser. That means you can log on and see people from virtually anywhere in the world. Some webcams even have motion detectors.

I wanted to use mine to watch my baby son while I work on my laptop in another room. I also wanted to be able to see him while I'm away on business, and in the future I might want to use the camera for home security.

I chose a D-Link DCS 2100* webcam. It comes with software that lets you archive video to your hard drive, as well as manage and monitor as many as 16 cameras. The camera connects either through an Ethernet cable or wirelessly. Since I have a wireless network, there's no need to add extra wiring to the house. But that doesn't mean I can just put it anywhere. The camera does need a power supply.

My desktop system is a PC I built late last year with an Intel® Pentium® D processor running Microsoft Windows XP*. I also have a laptop equipped with Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology. My husband has an HP notebook with an Intel® Pentium® III processor. Our wireless network runs on a Linksys* router.

Step by step
I began by following the webcam's installation instructions. The instructions told me to connect the wireless antenna and turn on the camera. At that point, my router was supposed to be able to see the camera. But it wasn't quite that easy.
Next, I tried connecting the camera directly to my router using an Ethernet cable. I reset the camera by inserting a paper clip into the reset hole on the back of the camera. This pushed down the button long enough for the LED lights on the front of the camera to recycle twice and a blinking green LED to come on. I then clicked the IP installer in the software and got a connection to the camera.
In the IP installer window, I saw the Media Access Control address of the camera. I clicked on it and I was redirected to my camera's IP address where I saw an image of the camera. Now I had to configure the camera.
I clicked on the configuration tab to the left of the video screen. The Advanced Configuration screen came up so I could configure the camera for my wireless LAN. I kept the top items set to the defaults and concentrated on the lower half, starting with the WLAN configuration.
I set my service set identifier (SSID) to the same as my router.
I left the wireless mode set to 'infrastructure.' The channel default was 6, the same as the rest of my components.
Now came the tricky part. Because I wasn't using a D-Link router, I apparently had to set my transmission (TX) rate to 11Mbps. This wasn't clear to me or explained in the instructions. I had to call D-Link Tech Support to sort it out.
I left the Preamble set to "Long," since that was the default.
I ticked the box for "Data Encryption."
I left the Authentication mode on "Auto."
I set the key length to 128 bits.
I kept the "Key Format" at "Hex."
I entered my 26-character key that I used for my router and the rest of my wireless network.
I clicked "Apply" and the camera restarted. When the solid green LED came on, I knew I was ready.
I unplugged the camera from my router, unplugged the camera from the power outlet long enough for it to power down, and then plugged it back into the outlet.
It worked. The camera was able to send video directly to Internet Explorer. If the process had gone smoothly, it would have taken me 15 to 30 minutes, but as always, your experience might vary depending on your equipment and other factors.
Now that the camera was connected, I set it up to email me when it detected motion. It took a little while to get the settings to work correctly. You need to enter your Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) information in the email tab in the camera's setup software. Then you set the motion detection settings by specifying how much motion has to happen before the camera is triggered to send you an email. It's easy to do, but you may need to adjust some settings to get the sensitivity you want.

To see if it worked, I mounted the camera by the front door to see if it would detect someone at the front door. It did. An email arrived as my brother rang the door bell. Clicking on the video link, a real-time video of him at the door came on my screen.

Finally, I put the camera in my son's room and pointed it at his bed. I went back to the living room where my laptop was and connected to the camera through my browser - and he came into view. The camera has audio capabilities, so not only can I see him, I can also hear any sounds he makes.

I just had a baby and want to loose the weight for a vacation that is in 2 months?

Q. I walk allot and i am constantly moving and doing stuff. I barely eat for I have barley anytime to with a new born. I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars for I just had baby and diapers and formula dont come cheap? Help please?

A. Here you go: This is from my own experience and what has worked for me. I have laid it all out for you so that others may have the success I have.

The perfect way to loose weight and monitor your progress is to use a calorie counter on a daily basis while you diet.

Energy In/Energy Out

Food Intake: 1,200 Per Day

One Pound equals 3,500 Calories

To loose one pound per day, You need to burn your food intake plus your one pound of fat

1,200 (intake) + 3,500 (Outtake) = 4,700 Calories Burn

You must burn at least 4,700 Calories everyday to loose one pound at least. It is very easy to go up and beyond 4,700 calories each day.

Best way to do this is to track your progress on a calorie counter monitor watch. If you do it by the numbers you can loose the weight. It is just a matter of changing the way you think about weight loss.

Once you start wearing your calorie counter you can see the numbers increase and you fill find yourself doing extra things in your day, like tapping your foot while waiting at the light in your car, chewing gum, singing out loud and so on onto of your workout routines. You begin to see that everything you do in your day contributes to the overall numbers needed to loose that pound.

Water Intake/Less Storage

Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 to 80 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

Good Food

My favorite things to eat:

Avocado Wraps

Simple: Low Carb Tortilla, Half Avocado sliced, alpha sprouts, lettuce, soy bacon...Just wrap it up and eat. You can vary the things you put inside so long as you keep it to approx 4 or 5 items. You want to make sure they are fresh, low calorie and filling. Avocado and mushrooms can replace meats in your meal and still have great taste.

Special K Cereals are fantastic. They have that sweetness that one craves and is so good for you. Calories are low. Great for even just dinner.

First thing in the morning...A Glass of Chocolate Milk. Yup!! Chocolate Milk. We all crave that "got to have" item in the morning. Milk is the best thing you can have for yourself while working out. The chocolate (and you can use Carnation Instant Milk for this but I simply use Nestle dry mix) will give you that sweet "snack" that you need. If you give your body a little bit of it and its in a control way, you will not crave sweets and junk the rest of the day.

Lean Cuisines

Fantastic food! Each meal is approx 180 t0 380 calories per box. So think about your calories. 1,200...You can still have several of these meals a day and still be under your intake requirements.

Its all about the numbers and watching what you take in and what you burn out. And you know what..If you go over your 1,200 mark for food intake...thats okay...you simple up your total calories burned for the day by what you took it. So long as you burn off the over all calories to be more than your food intake. Just make sure you stick too it so you can reach your weight loss goals.

Fruits and Veggies

All you want on the schedule listed below.
Bananas are my favorite. They are very filling and can make a meal all on their own.

____

Vitamins

My favorite is ONE A DAY WITH ENERGY...I am in love with this vitamin because I am just like everyone else who loves those quick fix energy drinks. But what people do not realize is that energy drinks can contain 120 to 440 calories in just ONE Can. If you think about it..That is HALF of your allowed calories for food intake. The best alternative I have found is One a day with energy vitamin. Easy to spot, it is packaged in a green label bottle. Just One vitamin a day will give you as much energy as approx. 1 1/2 cans of red bull...WITHOUT the calorie intake.
WoW..now your making progress already because you have made more room in your intake calories for actual healthy food.

_____

Soda/Carbonation

Carbonation is terrible for your system because it bloats your stomach. And when your stomach bloats, your jeans just don't fit. You can drop one pant size simply by NOT drinking any carbonated drinks all together..Take away the bloat and you have instantly just made it one pant size lower. Besides, Sodas dehydrate you and with that One a Day Vitamin, you won't need the Caffeine in the soda and it will also cut out those extra calories that you don't need.
So remove that soda and the energy drinks and just think how much calories you just instantly removed from your daily intake. I normally consume what...four sodas and two energy drinks in one day...that is a total of .... 900 calories. Of what??? Nothing...Those are horrible calories and calories that can be replaced by food which will fuel your body for your day and your workouts.

____

Your Body

Your body is like a computer. You must program your body to do what it is suppose to do so it won't crash and leave you with a virus. Your stomach is only the size of your fist. So think about it right now, Look at your hand and close your fist. Not very big is it. That is how much food you actually ONLY need to eat, each time you eat for every meal. If you eat anything more than that, you will stretch out your stomach which causes overeating and overweight.

What you need to do is eat every three hours, approx 5 to 7 times everyday around the same time. If you are always giving your body healthy and better food choices (the size of your fist) every three hours, your body will know you are giving it food. It will use that food properly. It will not go into starvation mode or store food away for later because it knows...it will get more in three hours. So what does your body do...it flushes everything out of your system because it doesn't need it.. Now it knows...you wont' forget about it and that food is on its way.

____

Walking Buddy

This is the best thing especially for woman. Get a walking buddy. One hour everyday. Just think about how much talking, venting and laughing two woman can do together while walking and yup, you guessed it...it just burns more calories and reduces your stress. You now are more relaxed because you can talk and free yourself of whatever is frustrating you while getting into shape.

What is a good age to move a baby to his own room?
Q. My baby is 11weeks and still drinks every 3hours at night, is he really hungry or just waking out of being used to it?How will I know?Because every thing I read says he should be able to sleep atleast from midnight till 5 or 6. I dont know if he is just snacking because he drinks 8 times a day between 75 and 100ml.

A. not really sure on the age to move a baby to his own room as my boy was in his own room right from the start and was fine, so i guess my answer would be now. id give it a go. we slept so much better with him in another room. he also dropped the 2 middle of the night feeds at about 9 weeks. the way we went about this was when he woke up at his usual times we would wait about 5 - 10 minutes and let him cry to see if he would go back to sleep. when we found that he did go back to sleep we realised he was just waking out of habit. try dropping one feed at a time. at this age they should be able to do it. it will probably take a few nights of letting him cry it out before he finally gets it, but if you stick it out it should work. as for the amount he drinks, my boy was doing 6 feeds a day of 125 - 150 mls, 3 hrly. 1st feed at 6.30am, last feed at 9.30pm. if you try increasing his day feeds he may find it easier to sleep through the night. good luck, its always hard to try dropping a feed but you may find he does it easier than you think. its worth the couple days of toughing it out. hope this helps
oh also, if the babys room is next to yours like ours is, we found we didn't need a monitor, you can hear them pretty well. i tried the monitor for a few nights but it just made me anxious and couldnt sleep very well. he's now 5 months and doing fine.if its not next to yours a monitor is probably a good idea.

Where can you find prices for artificial insemination into a donor egg?
Q. My friends are a lesbian couple trying to conceive and one of the women wants to literally give birth to the other's baby by artificially inseminating and implanting her partner's egg into her womb.

A. Wow... that is so cool!! :) I would contact a reproductive endocrinologist. He/she will be able to answer any and all questions related to this. I know one cycle of IVF costs between $12,000-$15,000... not sure how much that cost would go up with the addition of the other person into the mix. Great idea though. Good luck to your friends! :)

Here is some info from a fertility clinic in MN... not sure where you live and this is for an anonymous donor, but it gives an idea anyway. The web site is www.ivf-minnesota.com.

Donor Egg - Program Costs
Anonymous Donor Egg Costs
The Center for Reproductive Medicine and Advanced Reproductive Technologies uses a package price for an anonymous donor egg cycle. This price includes $4000 for the donor reimbursement, as well as donor screening costs, donor monitoring during the cycle, donor egg retrieval, laboratory costs, and anesthesia for the retrieval. It also includes recipient monitoring and cycle coordinating and the embryo transfer.

Package Price $17,975

Additional costs include donor stimulation medications and recipient medications.

Estimated cost $3500
Possible additional charges:

Freezing of Embryos - $825 (Includes first 6 months storage)
Annual storage fee for frozen embryos - $550
Donor sperm - approximately $150-265/vial

what is the quickest way to tone up a post-pregnancy tummy?
Q. i had my beautiful little girl on april 29 of this year. so yea, she is goin on 5 mo already!!! (dam they grow up soooo fast!) but anyways...i was wondering what the quickest and easiest way to lose the post-pregnancy/baby tummy...or at least tone it up i should say...im tired of not being able to wear tight fitting shirts because i have that little bit of flab wanting to make itself very noticeable. lol! any help would be great! thanks!
WoW!!! that was fast! thanks..i will try what u said. i want to get down at least 2 pant sizes. and i also want to get rid of my flab. to be a size 2 and have 3 kids...thats great! i weigh 168 now. ide love to get down to at least 130. but thanks for the bit of info. ill c how well it works for me.

A. Okay...I only started five Mondays ago and All I do is walk one hour every morning. I wear a calorie counter monitor to loose weight by the numbers. I have already lost two pant size and 27 pounds. I am a woman and have three kids and this is the method I use when I gain weight.. I am now at a size two and everyone is always amazed that I have had three kids. This is what I do below when I throw on a few extra pounds. It always works..No diet pills, no energy drinks..just me walking and getting the water I need. Of course I watch what I eat and the Lean Cuisine meals are great for that since the calories per box are 180 to 380 per box. Just make sure you eat healthy every three to four hours so your body will perform at its max.

Here it is:

Helpful Tips for weight loss:

1)A good way to loose weight is to use a calorie counter watch

Keep to a 1,200 food intake

Add 1,200 plus 3,500 (equals one pound of fat) ...and that is the total amount of calories you need to burn each day. Its actually really easy once you start watching the numbers and it doesn't seem like work or exercise. Its just a matter of changing the way you think about loosing weight.

I use this method when i gain some pounds. The first time I did this I went from 168 to 127

2) Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 percent of your weight.

Do stretch marks start out silver or red?

Q. I am 26 weeks pregnant and terrified of stretch marks. This is my second pregnancy and I gained 36 pounds with the first and not one stretch mark. I have heard that its all genetics and my mother had 3 kids with me gaining from 106 to 176 and not one stretch mark. Still Im terrified. I feel bad enough about my body without adding a race track to it. I look my belly over every day and yesterday I noticed a mark that is clear or skin colored...Im thinking maybe this was somethign that was there that I just never noticed before? Do stretch marks start off silver or red? I am using cocoa butter 3 times a day and baby oil once a day and in my bath. I am also planning to buy bio oil because i have heard good things about this stuff. What else can I do? If I do get the stretch marks is there any laser treatment or surgey that can be done to remove them after the birth?

Thanks

A. yeah.. they are using red.. something light pinkish..

I have tried a few methods, either you can use the DIY method or try those proven

treatment creams out on the market.

Try to massage the area with the stretch marks about three or four times a day with

moisturizers that contain cocoa butter or shea butter as a prime ingredient. This

hydrates the skin, making it more pliant. Again, this is most effective only in the

initial stage.

If your stretch marks are already pass the initial stage (when they are red, purple,

pink, or brown, depending on the color of your skin) and become white or silver

(usually with deep indentation), then it would be far more difficult to minimize them,

but not entirely impossible to "remove" them. But before you begin searching for these

treatments, try to read more information on these topical treatments first.

Many are advertised to "repair" stretch marks, but few have actually been proven to be

effective. Here's some that are available on the market:

a) Wheat germ oil - may help improve stretch marks in their early phase.

b) Glycolic acid - increases collagen production; can be administered in higher doses

by a dermatologist (usually costs a few hundred bucks and requires a few visits before

you see results)

c) Vitamin C - certain formulations might increase collagen production, but they'll

only help with early-stage stretch marks; for best results, combine with glycolic acid.

d) Relastin - the effectiveness of this product is unknown and unverified.

e) Peptide-containing products - these "repair" creams are ineffective; there's no

evidence that they work.

f) Retinoids - they're fairly effective in increasing collagen and elastic production

in the early stages, but they should be avoided if you're pregnant or nursing; they're

more effective when used in combination with glycolic acid.

I would recommend treatments that are using "100% natural ingredients" such as aloe

vera. Aloe vera has been shown in clinical studies to have a positive effect on wound

healing and holds anti-inflammatory properties.

As stretch marks start out as microscopic tears in skin layers due to overstretching of

the dermis, aloe vera helps heal these small wounds without causing scar tissue to

form, effectively preventing the appearance of stretch marks. Aloe vera has been used

for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs, Indians and Chinese to

decrease the appearance of scars and to moisturize and heal skin. The extracts from the

aloe leaf protects skin from environmental factors and promotes skin regeneration. My

friend recommended me this and I have been using for a few weeks now, have shown some

positive results but I am monitoring the progress. since the product have a 90 days

return policy.

My balcony has become a pigeon "resort" and I'm just not that hospitable...?
Q. In the coldest months of the winter, I noticed that a pigeon had layed 2 eggs on my 11th floor balcony - overlooking Lake Erie. Admittedly, it was an interesting family arrangement. 4 birds actually sat on the eggs - a coal black one, a pure white one, one of the typical grey/white one, and one that was the most beautiful aqua you've ever seen. Well, I've not seen birds have babies since I was a little girl and how would I turn them out (and where??) in 0 degree weather? I knew eventually new life would hatch through, learn to fly and the entire group of surrogate mothers and babies would be gone forever. Now, they had made their "nest" out of very petite 6" twigs in a pot of soil that had been left on the balcony after gardening season was over - just like I've done for 5 years - but this was the first time I'd found myself monitoring a true nursery. True to form, the eggs hatched, actually quite adorable birds were born, they grew healthy and strong (who wouldn't with 4 mommies feeding them) and FINALLY they learned to fly and were gone. NOW, here's the problem - the pigeons (adults) just keep coming back every day, 4-5 times a day and I don't want the problems they bring with them. Can someone give me a DIY humane answer to my DIM (did it myself) charity?

A. Did you move the pot of dirt and the pile of twigs?

Rottweiler tied to the balcony works. (Tie him securely so he doesn't jump after the birds!)

Motion detector that turns a light or something on to startle the birds.

Cat helps - same precautions with dog. But cats don't like harnesses too much.

Frequent shushing the birds away. By the way do you leave any food remnants out there?

Moth balls might repel them.

Hangy dangly things might deter the birds.

Good luck.

I am purchasing two juvenile beardies, What size tank should I get, so I dont have to buy another for a bit?
Q. I am purchasing two juvenile beardies, What size tank should I get, so I dont have to buy another for a bit...I dont want to have to use my 20 high tank for like 1 month and then buy a new one..
I'm assuming that you guys mean by two of the same cage, and seperate them, so they wont be together -.-, I'm getting a male and female btw..so i didnt really wanna seperate them..Can you buy that tank? or Make it yourself

A. you can make the tank yourself - i made a tank for my bosc monitor out of an old tv cabinet!

beardies grow quite fast, so you'd probably be better off getting a big one, but as babies are a bit 'stupid' they can get lost in a big tank and die from like lack of food and water and stuff..
4ft x 2ft is the minimum size for two adult beardies, so if you got one that big you could just put a divider in it to make it smaller for the babies - say a piece of cardboard or something.

there are loads of instructions for diy tanks, but it really is easier to either buy or reuse old furniture.

good luck!

My baby has a paralyzed vocal cord and can't make any sound. Any suggestions on products to use at night?

Q. I am looking for a product to use at night so I can know when my 6-week old son is moving even though I can't hear him. I want something that can go in the crib or something that can monitor him and notify me when he is moving so I can attend to him.

A. The only thing I can think of is those toys you can get that when bubs starts moving they play a song to help resettle the baby...not sure where you can get them

If you leave this question open for a bit (a couple of days) I'll do some research and also ask my collegues (I am a speech pathologist so I have some contacts that might know something) and I'll get back to you

EDIT....my understanding of the angel care monitor is that it alerts you if the baby is NOT moving/breathing....I had a similar monitor so I am assuming they are they same

EDIT....

Sorry, I haven't really been able to come up with much. I researched the toy I was talking about and I guess it's no surprise that it is voice activated so kinda useless for you. The other ideas some colleagues came up with included:

*** Having some sort of noise maker attached to bubs....would need to be something safe and attached in a way that it could not come off and cause any danger to bubs... something so that when bubs wriggles, it makes a noise....the con of this is that bubs might wiggle but not actually wake.

*** Co-sleeping as someone suggested.... either in your bed or in an arms reach style cosleeper.

*** similar to the noise maker idea.... having something crinkly under the sheet so that when bubs moves it makes a noise.

There are some products out there however they require intentional movements....good for when bubs is a bit older but right now, he is unable to intentionally push a button.

I hope that helps some and I'll continue to keep my ear out for anything that might work in your situation....good luck!

How can a tame out my baby Savannah Monitor?
Q. He/she i dont know what it is is a very agreesive animal always hissing hippping but no really snapping. only in her cage out of it is kinda the same but she is a little more tolorible but harldy at all, it is a very small lizzrd i would say about 10 inches. Any one wanna help me?

A. Time and patience.

A small animal like that is of course going to be terrified of something 10x the size of it and is going to defend itself.

If you havent done already, leave him completely alone in the tank for a week or so to settle in and start eating properly. If you have done, then just ignore that bit ;)

If you are afraid of getting bitten or whipped then wear thick gloves, pick up the monitor and hold him firmly so he cannot escape but not so much as to hurt him. After a while he will calm down in your grip; when he does put him back in his tank. Monitors are clever; this will teach him that flipping out will not get him back where he feels safe.

When i got my baby i sat in the bath (...not water) with him. There was no way he could escape - i sat very very still and let him wander about wherever her wanted. That way he could get used to my smell and my presence and know i wasnt going to hurt him.
Things like this take time and after a week or so of daily 'baths' and seeing me every morning and night to switch his lights on and off he started to settle and hiss less.

Just be patient - every day put the time in to handle him and eventually he will realise you are not going to hurt him. Dont be jumpy about things either; as you grow more confident so will he.

Do not hand feed either.
This will get the monitor to associate your hands directly with food and he is highly likely to bite you even if you dont have food.
I use tongs to feed mine; he associates the tongs with food and me with exploring time.

I've had him since he was a 6 inch whippy, hissy little gremlin, now he is 2ft+ and soft as anything!

How do I know if I have gestational diabetes or not?
Q. Hi I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and I had glucose tolerance test (75 ml) at 18 weeks and then at 28 weeks. Both of the times were negative but I had gestational diabetes with my first one though. Two weeks ago I have generally monitored my sugar level 2 hours after dinner and I was shocked to see that it was 8.8. Now I have been monitoring everyday since then and average is 7.5 ( without any diet plan and exercise). So does this mean that I got diabetes?

A. No, my friend, it does NOT mean that you have gestational diabetes.

Believe me, if your gynae team were concerned the would have told you as it makes their job even more difficult if there are added complications thrown into the cooking pot. (I'm fairly sure that you already appreciate that developing gestational diabetes increases risks to both mother and unborn child.)

Because you developed gestational diabetes during an earlier pregnancy DOES put you at increased risk of developing it during successive pregnancies, but this does NOT mean that you automatically will.

As you suspect, the 8.8 mmol/l (millimoles per litre) result that you got IS higher than it should be, but this MAY have been just a 'one off'. Yoiu also need to take into consideration whether you performed the blood test correctly. Did you, for instance, wash and dry your hands immediately prior to testing? There are a number of contaminants that can affect the results, such as food and/or drink remaining on the hands, cleaning products, scents/perfumes, alcohol swabs ... if not allowed to completely evaporate.

Your average blood sugar (glucose) level of 7.5 mmol/l is within the range that a non-diabetic would expect. (Normally, a non-diabetic's blood sugar level would not rise above 7.8 mmol/l two hours after eating. I am well aware that you MAY have been requested to test after one hour, but this is to do with the dangers that could be involved when someone has gestational diabetes.)

If you are, at all, concerned, my friend, you need to express your concerns to your gynae team. You could also try following the advice that was offered during your first pregnancy with regards to diet and exercise. It won't do either yourself, or your baby, any harm whatsoever.

Congratulations, by the way. I hope that everything goes well for you, that your pregnancy goes according to plan, and that your baby is the most beautiful baby in the world.

Is labor delivery the only option if I slips and falls during 29 weeks pregnancy?
Q. I am 29 weeks pregnant and fell yesterday on the stairs, only my bottom and legs suffered sour and pain, no stomach pain and breeding. I called the Dr office, and the nurse suggested to have labor delivery right away, but I don't want to, because the baby is only 7 month, and I feel just fine. I want to know if early labor delivery the only option, please help me out! Thanks.

A. Did the nurse say go to labor and delivery or did she actually say deliver? Because if she said you should deliver she should be written up to the medical board. She has no reason to assume that the baby should need delivered. I am a medical student in ob/gyn. The only way they would deliver you is if there is placental abruption or if for some reason they feel the baby is distressed. They do that by placing you on a fetal heart monitor. And even that is not likely in your case. The baby is protected in an amniotic sac and is safer than you think. He or she would just bounce around your body and the sac protects the baby greatly. Now you should definately not be sitting here online you should be at your labor and delivery center at your hospital because you need to be checked out. If your placenta did partially erupt from the lining of your uterus it is limiting the babys oxygen and nutrient supply. Even if you have no blood externally you and your fetus could still be in great danger. But don't get yourself upset 97 percent of the time the fetus is fine just get to the hospital in case.

Why did the democrats cause the financial meltdown?
Q. Under President Jimmy Carter, the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) was passed. It required federal financial institutions to encourage banks to give home loans to persons with little credit and low income. Economist Russell Roberts said that the CRA played a major role in creating the sub-prime mortgage crisis in the U.S.

Under Bill Clinton, the CRA was expanded and Clinton set targets for low-income home ownership at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Banks were forced by the federal government to provide bad loans to unqualified people.

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) is Chairman of the Financial Services Committee in the House of Representatives. In 2003, he said of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac: These two entities Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing. In the late 1980s and early 90s, Frank was engaged in a sexual relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie Maes assistant director of product initiatives! Bill OReilly exposed Franks involvement in the mortgage crisis: YouTube - O 'Reilly - Barney Frank Had Affair with Fannie Mae Exec. Frank looked the other way, while our economy was being destroyed by federal policies created in Clinton and Carter Administrations. (Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae help fund the homosexual agenda.

In 2008, Freddie gave $20,000 to a Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) event; Fannie Mae gave nearly $19,000 to the same event. Freddie has donated $125,000 and Fannie donated $80,000 to homosexual groups since 2005.)

Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT) is head of the powerful banking committee in the Senate. He and Barney Frank consistently resisted attempts by the Bush Administration to closely regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Dodd also got preferential treatment from Countrywide on two mortgages. Countrywide was one of the biggest subprime providers.

Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd received thousands of dollars in contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over the years. Dodd has received $133,900 since 1989; Frank received $40,100. (While in the Senate, Barack Obama received $105,849).

As long ago as 2003, President Bush was trying to get the House and Senate to carefully monitor the actions of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. His efforts were rejected by Democrats.

Obama associates headed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac during the years that the crisis was getting out of control. Obama friend Franklin Raines ran Fannie Mae and collected $50 million from it. Obama friend Jamie Gorelick worked for Fannie Mae and earned $26 million; Jim Johnson, formerly Obamas vice president search committee chairman, hauled in millions from his work with Fannie Mae as CEO.

ACORN, the socialist group that routinely engages in voter fraud, was involved in pushing for risky loans to people with bad credit histories or little money for down payments. ACORN intimidated banks in Chicago and elsewhere to give risky loans! Obama actually trained ACORN workers when he was a community organizer in Chicago! ACORN used provisions of the Community Reinvestment Act to delay or halt efforts of banks to merge or expand until they had lowered their credit standards!

A. Well, they didn't. Someone seems to forget that just like in the Great Depression, this current mess was created by a decade of Republican legislation. And now they are crying like cry babies that it's Obama fault. Oh my! aren't they delusional.

cute mums, tell me about stuff you bought for baby and it was helpful, and other was waste of money?
Q. to make me form my mind on what to buy and what is waste of money..
my due is 24th of Sep. i like to be prepared..
please tell me about everything you bought or even intend to... car seats,strollers.. high chairs...bottles' brands.. pumps..strelisir..baby monitors....etc. everything :)

and please star to make many mums answer me, thanks <3 <3

A. This is from my personal experience... imo these were a waste of money

Baby carrier - never used, just always thought stroller was better or carrying my daughter myself
Baby sling - used it once and never used again, it was heavy and gave me a sore back (my daughter was light and still is light as a feather!) and it kept covering her face. I was also paranoid that she'd slip out, so I always had to put a hand underneath just incase =/
Baby monitor - Never used it, at all. I can hear my daughter cry from outside even, and our house isn't very large. Plus, the radiation.. ugh
Manual breast pump - used a handful of times. even during engorgement early stages of breastfeeding could not pump out no more than 3 ounces!
Nipple shields - breastfeeding has been smooth for me. don't require them.
Lamp - don't need one, she sleeps in the dark. :-)
Bouncer - only used it several times, she never liked it and would squirm out of it (loved her swing tho!)

and pretty much just extra clothes are a waste, johnsons & johnsons and those baby care products that have a ton of chemicals, preservatives (etc) my daughter had eczema so did not use them (we use organic), toys (you don't need that many until they are about 4 months when they discover their hands) i made the mistake of splurging hundreds when it was not necessary, also do not stack up on nappies, they go through quite a few growth spurts in the first 12 weeks.

A stroller, car seat, cot, bath/change table, are pretty much a MUST have item.

I asked a question yesterday about baby formulas not containg aha&dha, and which product to buy.?
Q. I have researched products in britain and they seem to have much less scary ingrediants. The companys I found are Holle, Hipp&Babynat. I have chosen Babynat, but thought the Holle product sounded good too. The only product that can be shipped directly to the usa is the Hipp formula.

A. I am sorry, I cannot answer your question. I breast feed. I do however understand why you do want formulas that are ara/dha free. I just wanted to post a little information so that other moms understand that what they put in formula is NOT what is in breastmilk. Maybe you can try one brand to see how your baby does with it? If he likes it, it doesn't constipate him etc... I would see which formula your baby handles the best.

NABA continues to receive daily inquiries regarding a number of issues related to the DHA/ARA supplementation of US infant formulas. What follows is a discussion of a few of the questions:
Weve been told that the new fatty acids are just like those in breast milk. Is this true?
Actually these fatty acids are nothing like what is in breast milk and pose a number of known and unknown risks to the infants who consume them. The DHA is extracted from fermented microalgae (Cryptecodiunium cohnii) and the ARA is extracted from soil fungus (Mortierelle alpina). The breast does not use either of these items to manufacture its fatty acids, and these sources are new to the food chain. Each of the processed oils has its own fatty acid composition, adding a number of fatty acids to formula that already are contained in the plant oils mixed into the base formula. Human fatty acids are structurally different from those manufactured from plant sources. Human fatty acids interact with each other in a special matrix. Just because they perform as they do in human milk does not mean they will perform at all in an artificial construct.
The formula rep told us that these formulas are FDA approved.
Neither the fatty acids themselves nor the formulas containing them are FDA approved. In the words of the FDA, The law does not require that FDA approve infant formulas but instead requires companies to provide certain information to FDA before they market new infant formulas. Manufacturers must provide assurances that they are following good manufacturing practices and quality control procedures and that the formula will allow infants to thrive. If such assurances are not provided, FDA will object to the manufacturers marketing of the formulas; however, the manufacturer may market the new infant formula over FDAs objection.
http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/qa-inf22.html
What the FDA receives is a notification by a manufacturer that its product is generally recognized as safe (GRAS). The FDA can then pose no questions or it can conclude that the notice does not provide sufficient data to determine assurances of safety. In 1999, the FDA determined that Wyeth Nutritionals GRAS notice for use of these fatty acids did not provide sufficient data to assure safety of their use in infant formula. However, in an interesting turn of events, suddenly in 2001, the FDA raised no questions to Martek Biosciences and Mead Johnson who submitted GRAS notifications with assurances that none of the side effects of these fatty acids were a safety issue. Martek conducted its own GRAS evaluation and concluded that the DHA/ARA sources were GRAS. The FDA did not carry out its own investigation. The FDA states that any evaluation that the use of a food ingredient is safe is a time-dependent judgment based on general scientific knowledge and for this reason it expects infant formula manufacturers that use these ingredients to conduct scientific and rigorous post-market surveillance to monitor the babies that consume these products. Thus, the FDA did not pass its own judgment, did not evaluate these ingredients for safety, took the word of the manufacturer that DHA/ARA were safe, and has allowed 4 million babies per year to be the experimental group in a scientific study of what happen to babies who consume these products.
http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~rdb/opa-g007.html
http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~rdb/opa-g080.html
http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~rdb/opa-g041.html
Most of the clinical studies of these fatty acid enriched formulas were short-term growth studies on small samples of infants. The FDA states that data that becomes available after the new ingredient enters the market must be considered as a part of the totality of information about the ingredient, which is why the FDA has asked (not required) the manufacturers to monitor babies who use this formula.
http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/qa-inf20.html
The babies who consume these formulas remain guinea pigs in an uncontrolled experiment that bypasses informed consent, as parents are unaware that even the FDA will not declare that these ingredients are safe.

Has anyone tried the prenatal monitor by Graco?

Q. Is it similar to what you hear in the doctor's office? 19 weeks & trying to hear my baby's heartbeat! :) Thanks
I already have the monitor. I want to know how strong the heartbeat will be or if that is even what I am hearing. Not sure about the sounds.

A. i have one you can faintly hear the heartbeat depending on positioning of the baby but i personally didnt think it was that great. definetely nothing like the dopler at the doctors. it also works better once you get to 25 wks or more.

Could you please share your baby list that includes items to buy before delivery?
Q. Hi - I am due this August and in the process of making my baby list, doing research and shopping. I will be grateful if you could please share your lists (including brands/models - if at all available), so I can judge what's actually required and also find out if I am missing out on anything important. It's so easy to overdo baby shopping. I wanted to limit the shopping to really useful items that are worth it.

Thanks so much!

A. Absolutely necessary in my opinion:
-Diapers (sizes one and two to start, newborn are pretty useless)
-Wipes (I like Huggies wipes better)
-Car Seat (I love Graco seats, both infant and convertible)
-Blankets (For an August baby go with thin thermal and recieving, for swaddling and laying on surfaces)
-Baby Bath Tub (I liked Fisher Price Ocean Wonders with the sling for an newborn)
-Sleeping place (I had an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper, along with a crib for later)
-Diaper Cream (Desitin), Shampoo and Baby wash (Johnsons is good, Burts Bees smells awesome), Medications (Target brand Tylonel, Motrin, Gas Drops, Teething drops), Thermometer (Safety First)
-Bottles if you plan to formula feed (You might want to try one brand at a time til you hit what the child likes)

Really nice to have:
-Stroller (Again, I recommend Graco)
-Bath Towels (I like Target Brand with the hoods, they are soft)
-Bouncer Seat or Swing (Fisher Price is a go-to for good stuff)
-Fan (They say it reduces SIDS and helps babies breath better, not to mention blocks out some noise which makes Mommies feel better)
-Sling or baby carrier (I loved my Mai Tai wrap, it made it so easy to go out with him as a newborn and also to get things done in the house)

Not necessary at all:
-Changing table or pad (We never owned one, never used one)
-Pack-n-play (Unless you travel a lot, we don't use ours)
-Rocking chair (never sat in it once)
-Baby monitor (if you have a small house, you are going to hear the baby...but it is a good purchase once the baby is older...We have a "Baby Call" by Sony and like it)

I think that is all. Remember the usual stuff like clothes, somewhere to keep the clothes, free and clear laundry soap, goodies for you (breast pads, sanitary napkins, pjs for nursing if you are).

What should I ask for on my baby shower registry?
Q. I'm going to be a new mom and I'm going to register for baby supplies but have no idea what I need. What supplies are essential for a new mom? Anything you wish someone had told you about when you were expecting?

A. that depends on what you want to do -- are you co-sleeping or do you want your baby in the room with you? are you breast feeding? do you want to wear your baby?

for me, I found that my sling for carrying my fussy newborn around in was a lifesaver (I recommend the moby wrap). I like my good, compact stroller (inglesina swift) and my convertible car seat. I liked our playmat/play gym thing and we used that for a good 7-8 months. I was happy to have my breast pump when I needed it in the first few weeks but then we got back to him breast feeding full time so all the bottles I got were unnecessary. we had a co-sleeper which was good for naps until he outgrew it, but he was in bed with us from the beginning. my son hates baths so I have to shower with him so we never used a baby bathtub, haha. we cloth diaper too so I didn't need too many diapers.

I'd register for a baby monitor, a music box/white noise machine, plenty of onesies in all sizes, burp cloths, a bumbo, a high chair (we have a hook-on one) and a mobile too. they grow so quickly out of that newborn stage too, so some toys will be nice. forget the wipes warmer (when you're away from the house, the wipes will be cold so it's best to get your baby used to that!) and the diaper genie (a regular trash can with a lid works fine). we didn't use uncomfortable carriers (the baby bjorn, the snuggli) because they put the baby's weight in the wrong place. we have a convertible crib that we never used but would have when he went into a toddler bed -- but it got recalled so yadda yadda. he hated his bouncer but loved his swing. I had a little swing contraption that allowed the car seat to be attached to it and I thought that was pretty cool and we used it until he outgrew his infant seat:
http://www.amazon.com/Graco-SnugGlider-Swing-SnugRide-Infant/dp/B000M4K4BY

so I guess all in all, hind sight is 20-20 and I really didn't know what would work with my son and what wouldn't. some people love their baby bath tubs and bouncers and they didn't work with us. think about your style of parenting that you want to happen and try to go off of that, if that makes sense. sorry this is so long, I've been long winded tonight! keep reciepts!

What are some baby items you really enjoy having?
Q. I'm talking about things that the baby likes, or things that make life more convienent. Not MUST haves, but things you really like having.

A. well, u can go to babies r us website and they have a list for ppl who are going to register..of course it has a lot of things on there that you don't need, but if you weed through you can get what you need out of it...the things i liked;found most useful, etc......

.i would def recommend:
a diaper genie 2; idk why ppl don't like them, there is NO smell in my dd 's room
changing table..will save your back, good for diap changes, clothes changes, sponge baths, etc and you have shelves to store your new baby must haves....i have canvas bins on the shelves to store things that are good to have in reach or easily available...
monitor--i like the graco imonitor, recently bought a second one for another room in the house bc i liked the other one so much, it has been working well for over 8 mos now, and it has good range, battery life, and i can hear EVERYTHING; never any interference....it works great..
boppy pillow with cotton covers, soft ones don't fit as well for some reason
lots of baby hangers, and baby hangers with clips to keep outfits together
primo euro bathtub
prince lionheart diaper depot and wipewarmer; ours works well and the wipes are still very warm when we get them to out dd's bottom; and she doesn't freak out when we are out and they aren't warmed, but seems to appreciate it when they are..
health kit: brush, comb, thermometer (not an ear one, not as accurate), nail clippers, etc.
baby meds, generic is just as good and a lot cheaper...desitin(or plain zinc oxide if you can find it)..not creamy, has less zinc ox in it....infant mylicon and tylenol
lots of diapers , make sure wherever you buy them will let you exchange them for a diff size if you need to even after the return period...brus let me do that, and buy a small pack of a couple brands to see which you prefer before you open the big boxes...wipes, lots of them, without alcohol or fragrance! we use swaddlers diapers and pampers sensitive wipes; no rashes, no reactions to their ingredients, diapers hold a lot when they have too and the netting tends to keep the wet off her bottom...
lots of baby washclothes, you may have to use them on baby's bum if it is really sensitive and gets a rash....and baby towels, but you could use your reg towels if money is an issue

swing, pref swings two ways and plugs in instead of batteries
bouncy seat
infant travel system! easy, easy, easy--we got the graco tour deluxe; it is great, folds with one hand, several seating positions, lays flat for sleep; has a big basket underneath and cup holders for mom and dad, one for baby , place for snacks for baby, and a 'pocket' up top for keys, cell phone, whatever you wanna put there...
play yard, get one with bassinet feature if you want to, easier to keep baby in your room for a while before putting them in crib in their room=we have chicco discovery and it is awesome, has more padding than most, easy to wash..machine wash, most are wipe down...very sturdy, has nightlight, vibration, etc and a flip up change table, has wooden slats that slide in under mattress for support...not that much more exp than the others and much better in my opinion
passys--she loves soothies and that is all she will take..
baby wash, again frag free, dye free
frag free , dye free laundry detergent
clothes hamper or basket
lingerie bag for socks, mittens, anything little so they don't get lost in the wash...
something to put baby toys in
extra toy links
lullaby cd and small cd player; my dd has come to love white noise, she naps with a fan and a womb bear; sleeps at night with a fan....
oh, mosquito cover for your infant carrier..it's where you can see in , baby can see out, but strangers cant just walk up and touch your baby, and they will!!!!!
all i can come up with now...LOL
diaper bags; big one for everything you may need, leave in car unless you will be somewhere a long time, and a small one to stick what you will need for a short run in so you don't have to haul the bigger one

if ffing:
avent formula dispenser; has better review than the ones made by sassy, and convert to a snack cup later...i loved it so much i bought a second one!
bottles--really liked playtex ventaire advanced when she was young, more pieces but it's easy to get them clean when the top and bottom comes off...and they vent through the bottom instead of the nip so no bubbles or foam going back up into baby's milk; they will leak if you don't put them together correctly, but we have had no probs with them and have never had to replace any parts on them..if u decide on them and have leaks, email me and i will explain how to keep them from leaking...:O)
bottle and nip brushes--i really like the ones by munchking that don't have a sponge on the end of the brush, they come in diff colors mixed with white and have a great nip brush in the handles....
drying racks--again, i really like munchkins...
formula mixer: i like dr brown's formula pitcher bc you don't shake it it is only abo

Would you leave your baby in a hotel room alone sleeping while you hang out in the hotel bar and periodically?

Q. go up and check on the baby? What about your own house ... would you leave your baby sleeping in your house and go two houses down to hang out and hang out with another couple? If no, would you do it with a baby monitor?

Just wondering because I know people who do just this type of thing on a regular basis, and I think it's asking for trouble. Even with a monitor, how would you protect your child if someone broke in, or if the house caught fire, or if your child had a medical emergency? The whole McCann thing is a huge example of this.

I'm interested in other people's opinions.

A. I would never do this. I may not like children all that much, but I would never neglect them that way. They could be hurt or worse killed.

Does anyone know where I could find a double baby monitor?
Q. I need to find a double baby monitor for my sisters new house. She has 2 babies (16 month and 3 month) and needs a double monitor. What I mean is 2 receivers and 2 speakers that all work together so she can put a receiver in each of the babies rooms and 1 speaker upstairs and one downstairs. If anyone knows where I could find one online or in a store that would be great thanks :)

A. As far as I have been able to find, there is no such thing. You can't have two transmitters because they use the same radio frequencies - the signals interfere with each other so you just get static on the receiver. Same thing applies if you try buying two different sets of monitors - one for each baby - because ALL baby monitors share the same narrow range of frequencies due to government regulation of the radio frequencies.

My solution is to have one conventional baby monitor with 2 receivers (for one kid) and one intercom set for the other kid. The intercoms I'm using are a 3-piece set I bought from radio shack. They plug into the wall and will work 2-ways. You set the one in the baby's room to "lock" and turn the other ones on and it works just like a baby monitor. Since the baby monitor is wireless and the intercoms send the signal through the electrical wires of the house, the signals don't interfere with each other.

How long should a newborn sleep in your bedroom?
Q. I am expecting and am new to this all. As a new mother, I know there are going to be things that are going to go wrong but, I'd prefer to keep them to a minimum, as we all do. I am planning on keeping her in a bassinet in our bedroom until she outgrows it. But, I was thinking, once she outgrows her bassinet is it okay to leave her in her crib at night and rely on baby monitors? Or is there a certain amount of time she should spend in our room with us? (Of course not in the same bed obviously).

A. You are going to hear from two camps on this issue. Some people believe that kicking your baby out of your bedroom and making him scream until he passes out will teach him independence. Other people have yet to find evidence to support this, and we prefer to allow our babies to sleep where they are happy.

You absolutely may share a bed with your baby if you like, and doing so safely will actually REDUCE the risk of SIDS. Studies that say otherwise fail to differentiate between safe cosleeping and unsafe cosleeping. If you change your mind about cosleeping after baby is born (many parents do, including me), learn how to do it safely and enjoy it. It makes nighttime feedings easier!

You may also move baby out when you want, and there are techniques to do so gently. There is a great book called The No-Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley. If you start from birth, your job will be easy!

There is another book that all new parents need to read, and it addresses sleeping, feeding, development, first aid and medical care and parenting among other topics. It's called The Baby Book by William Sears. Dr Sears will teach you that you already know how to take care of your baby, you just need to tune out bad advice.

To answer your question, There's no way to know what you'll need to do about sleeping arrangements until that time gets here, so make up a tentative plan, and don't be afraid to change it as you go. That's an important lesson in parenting: things rarely go as planned, so go with the flow and keep a sense of humor about your well-laid plans!

Congratulations!

When did you stop using your baby monitor?
Q. What age was your baby/toddler when you stopped using a baby monitor? If you are still using one when do you plan on stopping? Are there any specific reasons you have stopped or are still using? I am still using one and my family laughs at me - my baby is 20 months old.

A. My son is 6 1/2, and we used ours until just recently. His bedroom was all the way across the house from us (one-story and very spread out), and he would still sometimes wake up in the night to use the bathroom and not be able to find the door to his room (he doesn't like a night light) and would yell for us to help him. We wouldn't have been able to hear him without the monitor. When we moved, his room is still across the house but it's two-story so he's really not that far and he's done fine without it. My mother-in-law was always asking me if I'd still be using it when he's 15. LOL Use it until YOU think it's time to stop. :)

When did you remove the baby monitor from your childs room?

Q. My daughter is 8 months old so she's obviously way too young to remove the monitor and I probably wouldn't consider it before she was 2 or 3, but I was thinking about it and I don't really know at what age the baby monitor is typically done away with.

A. I know we're in the minority, but I still have monitors in both my girls' room (ages 5 and 6) and in my son's room (age 2). They're there mostly so that they don't have to yell for us if they need something and we're downstairs. Having the monitors helps me determine if I need to intervene in an argument while they're playing, allows me to hear a child who needs help in the bathroom, and generally helps me be more aware of what's going on upstairs while I'm downstairs.

We don't use the monitors once we go to bed since all the bedrooms are right next to each other. Sometimes I wonder if I should take the monitor out of my girls' room since it's clearly not a necessity, but they don't seem to mind it. They know it's there, and they know we can hear them if they call for us quietly (which keeps them from yelling and waking up their brother if he's asleep).

Heck, I use the monitor to call things down to my husband or the kids, too -- like my own personal PA system. ;-)

I think it just depends on the size/layout of your house and what works for you and your family. There's no right or wrong answer here.

What are the best non-digital baby monitors on the market?
Q. I have looked into digital monitors, but they're a little out of my price range. Does anyone know of any good classic style baby monitors? I am pregnant with my first child.

A. I love the Sony sound sensor baby call. It's voice activated so you don't hear the static. You do have the choice of listening to everything though. I bought a second one for my 3 yr olds room since I can't hear her if she calls out. They are only $35.00 at Target, great buy.

What do I do when my baby can't fall asleep because his pacifier keeps falling out?
Q. The dreaded pacifier addiction. My baby (almost 3 months old) will lay down fine to go to sleep; if his pacifier is in his mouth. The problem comes when it falls out, then he starts to fuss then cry. We have to constantly go into his room to put it back in, then he will relax again and start to doze off, then it falls out again...etc. When will this stop? What can I do to get him to sleep without the pacifier? Help - his bedroom is upstairs!

A. My daughter does the same thing, but it is slowly getting better. Does your baby suck on his hand/fingers? We have been encouraging that so she can self-soothe a little. I try not to give it to her as much during the day, and I don't give it to her when she goes to sleep if I can (she usually nurses to sleep which probably isn't better). You can do the cry it out, but I'm trying to slowly wean her off it. Don't listen to the people who say she's to young to be by herself. No one in my family or among my friends has done co-sleeping and everyone turned out fine (including me and my three brothers). It's great for people who want to, but not necessary. That's what baby monitors were invented for.

When should I start letting my baby sleep in her nursery by herself at night?
Q. My baby is currently nine weeks old, and sleeps in our bedroom in her bassinet. She just now has started sleeping through the night from 9-6. When should I put her in her nursery? When is it safest?

A. I don't understand why Tilly's question got a thumbs down.

Does that mean I'm a bad mum?

For my first, I had him in my room for 2 weeks. He then went into his own room in the bassinette, then at 4 weeks he moved to the cot.

For my second it was 2 days. My milk came in, then he was in his own room in the bassinette. I think he was only 7 days old when he moved to the cot.

For my third I think she was in the cot for her night sleeps from day 1. She was in the bassinette during her 'awake times' for the first 2 weeks, then after that I put her on a playmat on the floor.

Our nursery shares a wall with our bedroom. You walk out of our bedroom turn right, then you're face to face with the cot. I can hear every movement the child makes, and just to be sure, I used a baby monitor that could tell the temperature as well.
We sleep with our doors open too.

I have 3 children, and honestly, sleep is very important. I couldn't sleep while the baby was in our room because every time he/she changed breathing patterns I'd wake up and worry something was wrong.
For some people the 'separation' is better, makes them more relaxed around bub during the day etc. But for others, 4-6 months is normal to still be sleeping in the same room, or even co-sleeping in the same bed.

It's entirely up to you when you want to move your baby into the nursery. If you're not ready, then you should wait a while longer. If you are, then do it.

Video baby monitor with ip capabilities?

Q. Twin baby girls on the way and my wife and I are looking for a video baby monitor. I would happily throw down some more dough if they made a video baby monitor with ip capabilities so I can watch them at work. I would buy just a good ip camera but I cant find anything that can link a wireless handset to it. If there are any solutions without having both a monitor and then a separate camera please let me know. Thanks.
The ip setup isnt the big deal. The problem is that we'd like to set up a portable monitor (as seen with regular vid baby monitors) to use around the house. The home portable monitor would be the primary use, while the ip settings will be my selfish way to still be with all three of my girls =)~... Let me know if theres means to accomplish =) thanks.

A. I have heard of a friend-of-friend who uses the following setup as a dog monitor (to watch the dog from home via webcam) which might work for you:

1. wireless IP camera setup to view whatever you're after,
2. create a skype account to run at home,
3. set the skype account to use the IP camera for video calls and
4. set the skype account to auto-answer incoming video calls.

he can then video-call from his own skype account at work to the dog's account and see what's going on throughout the day. and the camera can be moved to a new location without moving the computer.

the catch is, you can't operate the panning of the IP camera via skype. if you need this, perhaps something like Team Viewer might be better - it's a remote desktop app free for non-commercial use, that will let you remote in to your home computer and access the IP camera controls that way (Team Viewer is REAL easy to use).

for your case, I suppose you'd want sound as well, so seek out an IP camera with mic (if you want to hear them) or with both mic and speakers (if you want them to hear you too).

**Edit** Oh, I see what you mean - you want a portable receiver unit with a screen to relay the video to. I had a poke around and came up with not alot.

I can find wireless cameras with receivers (usually 4 cams + 1 receiver) - ie. glorified baby monitors,
and I can find a couple of iPhone apps to receive a signal from an IP Camera (see links below), but no IP Camera portable receiver.

I stole from my job, I know I shouldn't have. But without proof there's nothing to do, right?
Q. I'm 20 and I was working at an office.

My mother is pregnant, I received a call and I was told she was rushed into the emergency room and a C-section is going to be practiced right away, she was found to have her blood pressure really high and her age also makes it a bigger risk (mid 40's). I had a week working as a secretary for a private company. My boss left the office to me, I spent the time alone in there. There were no cameras in there since that's the room where we monitor the cameras all around the business. Plus just to feel more comfortable I would search around, up and down and there was nothing recording.

I KNOW IT'S WRONG WHAT I DID!..

But I got so worried, and my boss is a jerk, I knew he wouldn't understand the reason why I left the job so suddenly. And I was right because right after I left he called me and told me that it doesn't matter how big the emergency is I should have waited for him before leaving. It's my mother!

Anyways, I had a long time looking for a job then I found this one, I really need some money, why? Because my mother doesn't work, at least not for now with the baby, pregnancy, and health issues. So I'm a bit stuck, before I left the office I took a phone and a camera (an iphone). He had a pile of those just standing around. Off, without use. I'm sorry, I know it was wrong. I KNOW.

I figured I could get a quick cash out of it, plus he wasn't going to see me again.

He called an asked about the phone and camera, I told him it wasn't me if that's what he's trying to say. I also told him that in order for him to accuse me then he better be speaking with proof of video and such and he replied "This is a locked up room I have no camera here, I am just asking because I had these two objects in the office, I'll just lock it with keys and not let anyone come in if I'm not here".

I played it off (YES YES I KNOW it's wrong) And I told him I didn't like the way he asked as if he thought it was me, he has a bad temper but he controls it, with a serious tone he says "No I'm not saying it was you I just have no trust in leaving the office unlocked again, just come by Monday and I'll pay you you're week's job."

Anyways I'm not asking for any of you to say I did something that was okay, I don't want to justify what I did, It was a moment where all I thought was about my mother at the emergency room and worst of all I thought of not having an extra $100 to at least help me out with food for my younger sister while our mother is hospitalized, that is why I simple snapped at that moment and took the phone and camera. Again I'm not justifying myself, it was wrong...

Either way my boss sounds like he doesn't even want to talk about the subject and told me to just forget it and to pass by to get my check and that'll be all.

I can't be accused, specially when other employer's would go in the office every once in a while, right?
I'm not saying that my "excuse" is valid, or that it should even be taken into consideration. But then again if you've never done something you shouldn't have done then you're either lying or not human. I feel guilty as it is, you don't have to be considerate toward me but don't be rude either. Can anyone answer the question please?

A. Theres no excuse for stealing sorry

ideas for the iphone, opinions?
Q. hi what do you think of these 2 ideas for apps on the iphone. one is a thing where it monitors a baby crying and then you input what that cry was about. for instance, your baby is crying one day and you figure out he wants food. you record the cry and say that is a food cry. then in the future you just show your iphone near a baby crying and it will tell you what they are crying for by measuring his or hers pitch and tone. another one is a shock thing, like in the arcade. you hold the iphone and get shock waves through your hand for however long, and send your high scores online and the person who gets the longest time holding it gets a prize or something. what do you think? also do you have any cool app ideas?

A. Awesome, in-fact I can also record sounds on my Nokia, or Motorola, or Samsung, or Sony Ericsson and also make them vibrate.
Wow I think I got a cool phone! Not?

A NEW BETTER CAMERA APPLICATION FOR THAT TRASH PHONE CAN BE A BETTER START!

what type of camera is a spy camera?
Q. im looking for a camera that you can put in one room and in another room you can see whats going on the place you put the camera in, actuallly i need it because my sister shes disabled eats all the food in the kitchen and i stay in the bedroom and cant watch her. her and my dad stay in the living room and my dad never watches her going into the kitchen. she eats all the meat cooked. i couldn't buy a lock for the refrigerator because i dont want to deal with opening it all the time it should be easy access. so what type of camera can do that like spying in another room

do you guys know any iphone or ipod apps that can do just that like download the app on your ipod that has a camera and put it in a living room and see the recording on your computer or something

A. Interesting question. You have two basic options.

1.) Video Baby monitor: Some can be used over the internet to monitor your kitchen anywhere, anytime. Can be wired or wireless. It's powerful and most mothers use it nowadays. Downside is, it's not discreet and once your sister knows it's there, she can find a way to evade it.

2.) Video Spy Cameras: Your best shot. They are covert, can be hidden anywhere. You can easily find wall-clocks with hidden cams, flowerpot, tissue box, even a tape recorder. I bet you can also find microwave oven with hidden cams, so many more.

Of course there are other options but these two are the cheapest options you can get.
