We have this one above and loved it. You can't put a cell phone next to it or does that buzzing thing, but it picks up the babies noises down to breathing softly.
I liked that I could turn the monitor off, and the sound down and the lights would flash if she was making some noise..then I could either turn the monitor on or the sound and decide if I needed to go in there.

Even with the buzzing once in a while it was great.

Has anyone had a healthy baby on epileptic medication ?

Anna

I am 32 and would like to start a family. At present i am taking lamotrigine 500mg a day and keppra at 1000mg a day. I have also been taking folic acid for ages. Has anyone been on this medication and had a healthy baby.

Answer
The more important question is, whether these medications (and doses) would be safe for Your (planned) baby?
Read the following information and discuss with your doctor before deciding.

1) A Direct quote from Wikipedia 'lamotrigine':
"Lamotrigine is rated Pregnancy Category Risk C. Use during pregnancy is recommended only if benefits outweigh potential risks. In September 2006, the FDA issued a warning stating that taking lamotrigine during the first trimester of pregnancy may increase the risk for cleft lip and palate malformation in newborns.[30] Since then, review studies have found that overall rates of congenital malformations in infants exposed to lamotrigine in utero are relatively low (1-4%).[31][32] This compares to a typical 3% rate in the untreated population. A prospective study on cognition in children (mean age = 4.2 years) exposed to lamotrigine in utero did not indicate any adverse effects"

2) From drugs.com, an extract from the article on Keppra:
"Seizure Control During Pregnancy
âPhysiological changes may gradually decrease plasma levels of levetiracetam throughout pregnancy. This decrease is more pronounced during the third trimester. It is recommended that patients be monitored carefully during pregnancy. Close monitoring should continue through the postpartum period especially if the dose was changed during pregnancy.
Lamotrigine is found in breast milk; the manufacturer does not recommend breastfeeding during treatment. In "Medications and Mothers' Milk," a frequently updated review of scientific literature, lamotrigine is rated as L3: moderately safe"
