can i feed my savanna monitor mice?

Damian

i know that in the wild they eat mainly insects. but if i monitor how much i give him (so hes not overweight) can i feed mice as a large part of his diet?
and of course some bugs!!

Answer
No !
Rodents alone should not be a large part of a Savannah Monitor diet.

Download and save these booklets on rearing baby monitors:

and

There is also a very good book on Varanus exanthematicus that you can download and save for reference:

.

What should the humidity be in my baby savannah monitors enclosure?

Raymundo

Ive been reading alot of different things about humidity levels, and my sav is pretty skinny and not eating so much (could be because i got him 2 weeks ago), his temps during the day are 100-110 at the basking spot, about 90 in the general area and 80-85 at the cool side, but now im not sure if my humidity is correct

Answer
Humidity should be around 35% - but your monitor needs water deep enough to submerge in.

See these 2 booklets we have written on rearing baby monitor lizards:

There is also an excellent book you can use for reference, just download and save it to disc first:
